Everyone keeps saying that, but here a Fish Fry is a dish lol.

I have actually been to a couple of those places and their actual menus in the restaurant (or bar) say "Fish Fry" instead of "Fish and Chips". I am really enjoying this thread btw. Its cool to learn how different slang can be from area to area. :)

Never heard of Captain D's either lol. I'm in the Great Lakes region. I live in Buffalo.

A fish Fry isn't usually an event here. Its usually a meal. It's battered and fried fish served with coleslaw and french fries, and sometimes a roll. EDIT: Here is what Wikipedia says about it... "In the United States, the dish is most commonly sold as "fish and chips", except in Upstate New York and Wisconsin and other…

No Long John Silvers here lol.

That's a Fish Fry! Very big on Friday nights around here. Everyone has a Friday Fish Fry special.
-
We call that a Fish Fry with a side of Fries here in Western NY. Never seen "Fish n Chips" on any menu anywhere
-
I think it's the same as a Fish Fry here.
-
In the US, chips come in a bag and are flavored with BBQ, Salt and Vinegar or Cheddar and Sour Cream. What is a "Fish n Chip Shop"? I assume that's a restaurant that specializes in making a fish fry that is sitting on top of french fries?
-
Chips as in French Fries for those in the US/Canada lol
-
Agreed! I use unsweetened vanilla cashew milk in my cereal. Its very good

I started the morning with a large coffee with 2 splenda from Tim Hortons that my wife had waiting for me when I woke up (she is the best!!). After that I had an Aldi brand Gluten Free wrap with sliced ham, a slice jalapeno cheese, cherry tomatoes, romaine lettuce and vlasic sriracha topper. Then I had a second cup of…

It is! Duffs has the best wings around!!
-
Even Pepsi and RC Cola are "Coke"??
-
I went to Duffs for wings yesterday! So good!!
-
I use the term bum or butt. But my kids will laugh hysterically if I use the work "fanny" in front of them.
-
I have never heard of using the word "Coke" for all soft drinks. That seems so weird to me. It would be like calling all fast food restaurants "McDonalds".
-
Well, I guess you can call me Canadian then, because my beer of choice is Labatt Blue Light... Labatt even has their US headquarters here. And once a year we go to a farm that makes fresh maple syrup for all you can eat pancakes. But no polar bears on the roads here lol. :p
-
I live in America lol. We don't have those here.
-
What is "In-n-Out"??
-
AMAZING!

Until a few months ago our Dunkin' ration was much higher. One day almost all of them closed. They didn't even tell the employees they were closing. People showed up for work, but there was no job. :open_mouth:

I do live in the great lakes area!!

We had a Krispy Kreme here, but, Tim Hortons put them out of business lol. Shipley's is something I have never heard of...
-
I'm sorry but I couldn't disagree more with this list... I live in the US and everyone here uses the term "Pop" for soft drinks. If someone says "Soda" they are usually read the riot act lol. Also, who calls a burger a "Dinner plate"? I have never heard that term! Personally I'm a Large black coffee kinda guy, but, every…

I use a Microsoft Band and love the integration with my Windows Phone. Besides all the normal fitness stuff, I can recieve (and reply to) emails and texts with it and my Band can be synced to MFP

I have been eating about 1200 calories a day (as MFP recommends) and I have been gaining weight. I am up 5 lbs this week alone. I don't know what to do.
