I couldn't agree more!!!!

I have never done shakes/smoothies for anything other than breakfast. I loved them!!! I will admit though I've gotten away from them out of laziness but I need to go back so I get those added daily fruits. I buy frozen berry mix at Wal-Mary or Sam's Club. I use a Nutri Bullet and fill it about 60% full with the fruit. I…

Here is the United States food labels show what amount of cholesterol is in the foods we buy. So I watch that and when I tack my meals here on MFP, it gives me a max cholesterol to not exceed in a day and I shoot for about half of that or lower.

98% of all my sugar comes thru fruit. In maintaining a healthy lifestyle I just don't worry about naturally occurring sugars. It is the items with added sugars that will get you. Don't sweat the small stuff. Just read your labels. Eat real fruit not prepackaged juices. No sodas diet or otherwise. Stop all sweats!!! This…

Thanks for serving!!! I was an AE (aviation electrician) some years ago. When you get to boot camp if your BMI is out of wack they will put you in the FBI club. I saw guys that were obese come out lean mean fighting machines. Regular exercise, proper amount of sleep, and regular meals and you will shape up. Again, thanks…

For me personally, I don't do diets. I lead a very nutritional lifestyle. No, I'm not vegetarian. But I found this lifestyle to be one I can do long term. My dad did the same thing 39 years ago, lost 75 lbs. and has maintained that weight ever since.

I have a very physical job. Tons of lifting and my Fitbit logs 15k-17k steps a day. Today I was just shy of 1000 calories gained.
-
I try but don't always succeed. At minimum I weigh myself 3/4 times a week
-
Not sure what your exercise regimens is or what type of work you do. I work in a food warehouse and it is very physical. Lots of lifting and a truck load of steps. So I've set myself up with added steps based on my Fitbit. I easily get 15k-17k at work so my goal for 2017 is 20k steps a day. I don't do gyms, but I did drive…

Sure, I could stand to lose a few pounds but my cholesterol and blood pressure is my main focus. After studying the 10,000 different diet plans that are out there, I decided to meet with a dietician. Even though I thought I knew a lot she really opened my eyes. Basically all I am doing is eating healthy. I'm watch…

This depends on whether you and I are after the same results. I'm working on blood pressure and cholesterol. My dietician told me if I followed the right guidelines, any weight issues would automatically align fairly quickly. She was right. The other, main issues will take time.
-
Get your doctor to refer you to a dietician. They can be very insightful and helpful

I will check this out. However, I use many different websites. I find recipes that sound good to me the. I study the recipe to see what I can alter so that if fits into my nutritional lifestyle. I find this fun and it makes me a better cook. Just yesterday I found a Salmon stuffed portablella mushroom. It looked and…

Like many of the other Comments, I don't believe there is any benefit. However, I am a huge believer in cooking all my meals from scratch. No pre-packaged stuff. No, I don't make my own pasta but I'm not buying shrimp linguine in a box.

Salmon stuffed portabella mushrooms topped with a garlic aioli with sides of sautéed asparagus and acorn squash.

For me personally I hate the word "diet". It's a lifestyle change. Of the plans that are out there, the one that puzzles me the most is these 30 day plans....so what do you do after 30 days?
-
I had started a new eating lifestyle well before quitting smoking. Had I not, I probably would have gained.

I have never joined a gym....I drive by one a few years back. I do recognize that activity is healthy, regardless of how mild or extreme and that being sedentary is not healthy. I would never gone out and bought any type of pedometer.....however, thru my work we are enrolled in the Humana vitality program and I was able to…

Sugar/food addiction is no different than addiction to cigarettes or alcohol.....part mental and part physical. Regardless of the addiction it is hard. Been there/done that. You can get all the tips and tricks but until you decide you want to stop eating sweets, you won't. I smoked for years. Tried to quit 100 times. It…

I'm new here. How do you add friends???

I have had a lot of water pass under my bridge in my 54 years in this earth. One thing I've learned is there are folks out there that just aren't happy with themselves so they strike out at anyone who is doing something positive for themselves. Partly out of jealousy and partly out of ignorance. I don't care if they area…

My blood pressure dropped 10 points the day I gave up Facebook!

If it weren't for being enrolled in the Humana Vitality program thru my work, I probably never would have purchased one. However, hindsight being 20/20, I would say it is great because it helps keep me from being sedentary. I am competitive by nature so the challenges and daily step goals keep me rolling.
-
Some great advice in these comments. If you are looking constantly at your ultimate goal, then it will be easy to not succeed and give up. Baby steps. I know it is cliche but one step at a time.
-
How about regular pancakes and a side of smoothie made with your protein powder?

I am fighting high cholesterol as well along with high blood pressure. One thing the doctors never tell you is that it takes time, in order to lower your cholesterol by diet and exercise alone. Now I am not telling you to give in and take the drugs but I am telling you this is a long term battle and patience is a virtue.…

I found this recipe thru my Humana Newsletter. The original recipe called for raisins but I opted for dried blueberries, available at Walmart. I also started adding 1/3 cup of unsalted, in-kernel roasted pumpkin seeds. I just don't have time to cook each morning. A batch makes 10-12 cookies s a batch lasts just over a…

Many different fruits and veggies....far too many to list

I make a butternut squash soup that is Devine. I also love acorn squash. I avoid all potatoes so this makes an excellent mashed potato or sweet potato substitute. Al the fall squashes are great.
