You posted another thread about your summer job. I think you might need to leave that job, with the drinking and the lack of sleep, before you can be healthy. It's just not a healthy lifestyle. I've had BED for years. My therapist said that the #1 cause of eating disorders is restrictive dieting. She said this isn't widely…

I love exercise because it makes a big difference in my mental health and the way I feel. There are tons of reasons to exercise. I second all the advice of posters above.

I've had anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder at different points in my life. When I was about 18, after two years of anorexia, I read a bunch of books on eating disorders that espoused similar principles to intuitive eating. I loved the books, but I also have PTSD and at that time in my life, being present with my…

@AoifeFitzy Thank you for writing this. It brought tears to my eyes. I've spent a lot of time hating my body, feeling like I'm fighting it. But this made me feel like I could actually start taking care of it because I love it, not because I hate the way it looks.

If you wait too long to see your boyfriend he might worry that you don't like him anymore.

When I gained 20 lbs, my boyfriend asked me to lose it, but my friends didn't say anything. I don't talk about weight with my friends unless I know one of them has been working hard on losing weight and is seeing results. It really makes no difference to me whether a friend loses or gains weight. I love them for who they…

Don't worry too much about your cheeks getting that sunken look. I have super high cheek bones and I know my face gets that when I'm at a low weight, so when I get to my goal I'm just going to have some fillers like Juvederm put in my cheeks. I love that stuff- it's amazing what professionals can do with it. If you don't…

I've heard that when you start strength training your muscles retain water so the scale won't move, so that might be contributing.

You can add me too. I'm recovering from binge eating disorder. We can do this!

I'm sorry that you guys are in a tough place. I'm wishing you all the best and hope things work out in the best possible way for both of you.

I gained 20lbs in the past year. My boyfriend had a talk with me about my unhealthy habits (I am recovering from binge eating disorder) and the rapid weight gain. He was worried about my psychological health. And he said if I kept gaining weight it's a deal breaker. That gave me the jolt I needed to really get serious…

I sometimes feel guilty about all the time I spend working out.

That's what I'm planning to do. Once I reach my goal weight and have maintained it for at least a year I think I'll get surgery for any loose skin.

Yes. Realizing this for myself was my "ah-ha" moment. Exercise is soo good for you and it helps create a calorie deficit, definitely include it in your plan. But yeah, a short walk will not create a calorie deficit with the diet you've described. Not to be rude, but it's like you were eating five breakfasts in one sitting.…

Do you know what is causing the pain? My mom has severe arthritis in her knees, there's no cartilage, it's just nerve-rich bones rubbing together. Every step hurts. That's much harder to work around than some other possible causes. Maybe see your doctor about it so you can fix the root cause of the pain. I occasionally…

Don't worry about it too much. People might notice, but trust me, it's not the end of the world. It's none of their business. I know it's hard to not care what they think, but try not to. Weight doesn't have to be a hugely emotional and shameful thing. I try to look at it as a fact- I gained weight. It's just a fact, like…

My boyfriend's chest and broad shoulders, and the muscles that ripple down his back. And he has a great bum. What's something you hate but you do it anyway for the OS?

Don't panic. Don't try to lose weight too fast through super restrictive dieting or overloading yourself with exercise. You've got awareness, that's the first step. Try making a list of reasons to lose weight. It's okay if they're shallow. You'll need to focus on what motivates you so you can get through the tough times.…
