  • I'm not a fan of lower calorie versions of things - but I do use light mayo and Greek yoghurt instead of sour cream. I don't drink any drinks with calories choosing water as my main drink. Black coffee and herbal tea. I use almond milk instead of dairy milk too. Mostly I eat what I want and fit it in my calories. If I want…
  • I always have whatever I want for a late lunch / early dinner which is usually my last meal of the day. It can be anything - yesterday I had a giant plate of sausages and mash loads of veg and 2 custard filled chocolate choux buns. Not the healthiest meal but I'm recovering from Covid and my taste buds are weird! I pre…
  • On the theme of cleaning - I have a friend who is a hoarder Her flat is absolute horror film disgusting! I have tried to help her but it's impossible. Her partner and her grown up son do nothing! The irony is that she works in mental health. I worry about her and her living situation more than she does. After 20yrs I have…
  • I'm not a fan of traditional exercise and the horror of going in a gym is too much for me to bear! But I enjoy outside activities such as hiking and cycling. The benifits from a hike/ bike ride for me definitely trump the calories I burn from it. Burning calories is just a bonus. There's no way I would go in a gym so I…
  • Validation in the form of social media is addictive. I'm not judging anyone that uses it as like you say a tool to motivate or inspire - but it's mostly ego boosting bragging that usually only has a small element of truth in it. Every time I Google someone I know well their online persona is usually hugely exaggerated.…
  • The way that I see it is that life is going to happen anyway - so instead of doing a 'restart' which basically in my mind gives me permission to binge out over Christmas and go all gung ho in the new year ultimately leading to failure. It's best to just try and make sensible choices each day starting now. If you don't-…
  • Exercise never burns as many calories as you think it does. And Fitbit etc .. is unreliable as far as counting exercise calories go. But like others have said it depends on what exercise and how much of it you're doing.
  • Most peoples 'success' is determined by what other people think. Likes on a social media page and what your job title and relationship status is. Not forgetting your bank balance and how much 'stuff' you own. Validation is 'success'
  • This is what I'm doing at the moment. It's kind of a diet break too as I am recovering from Covid and my tastes have changed food wise. I'm losing at a slow but steady rate.
  • If I'm going out for a meal then I usually guesstimate and accept that it probably isn't accurate. I try to make sensible choices and if not then I do the best I can to log it and move on. I think that if you're having 95% of your meals at home or prepared by you then you can afford a meal out. It's all about what you do…
  • I always have whatever I want and fit it into my calories. Something to keep me satiated until lunch needs to involve some sort of protien so I'll have some sort of eggs or greek yoghurt with fruit and nuts. Porridge with fruit and nuts is good too. Or sometimes I'll have leftovers from dinner the night before. Don't…
  • I think wanting to see instant results is natural - but not realistic. You have to be in it for the long haul whilst remaining consistent. Counting every calorie honestly and making small changes will make a difference over time. It's not instantaneous - slow and steady wins the race 😊
  • Whilst browsing in a shop yesterday their camera TV screen caught my eye. I had to double take at the woman on the screen that was me.
  • Greek yoghurt with cinnamon, nuts and fruit helps me satisfy sugar cravings. It sounds manky but it's actually delicious and filling 😊
  • Ewwww nooooo! I smoked for about 25yrs On New Year's Day 2016 I decided enough was enough - best thing I ever did. It's such a ridiculous habit! Smoking won't make you less stressed or help you in any way - only negatives come from smoking.
  • I've been doing IF for about a year now I'm not super strict and play around with 20/4 and 16/8 with weekends off. I've lost 50lbs. It's changed everything for me - I find it so much easier to keep my cravings at bay and my calories down with IF. It's a way of life for me now and I won't go back to 3 meals a day again.
  • I really fancied a gin and tonic with lunch today 🤣 I didn't do it. Win 😁
  • Do you think your overly strict plan is sustainable for maintenence @revinso? Because as soon as you stop doing what you're doing you will gain the weight back if you don't learn to moderate rather than restrict. Like others have said - I think it's important to listen to others that are already at maintenance and take…
  • Breakfast- boiled eggs, toast, avocado, cherry tomatoes and spinach. Snack chocolate peanuts. Lunch - baked chilli chicken with broccoli and cauliflower in cheese sauce. Apple.
  • I find this thread really interesting. I never had an eating pattern when I was nearly 250lbs - I just ate. I ate and ate and rarely stopped unless I was asleep. It was totally mindless - every day I would have a slice of cake at work - sometimes 2 that I later realised had around 600 calories per slice. It would be eaten…
  • This! Accepting that a life change is needed and that there is no 'end point' is key. Small changes rather than unsustainable deprivation for fast weight loss make it easier to maintain. It took me a long time to fully understand this.
  • Porridge with apple and cinnamon- I always through a handful of almonds in there - but they're high calorie if you're on 1200 cals. Greek yoghurt with Berries and nuts - same again with the nuts. Some sort of eggs with veggies and cheese - I normally have toast and avocado - to lower the calories leave out the toast and…
  • Breakfast - caffe latte protien shake, almonds and black coffee ( I'm really tired today) apple. Lunch - 2 slices seeded toast, guacamole, fried eggs, spinach and cherry tomatoes. 75% dark chocolate.
  • I don't count black coffees, teas, herbs and spices or the odd splash of milk here and there in scrambled eggs etc .. I don't count salt either. I weigh everything else as I'm awful at eyeballing portions. Everytime I have a weekend of guessing calories I gain weight - I'm usually way off.
  • Protien shake, Almonds and ALL if the coffee
  • Me too 😍 I have the most beautiful bakery dedicated mainly to homemade desserts a 5 minute walk from my house! I'm ignoring it 🤣
  • Buttery scrambled eggs on toast with marmite and an apple.
  • I've got a seasonal cold/ flu thing and just feel wretched and want to eat all the sugar and curl up under a duvet on the sofa 😷 But I forced myself into a hot bath and noticed how much extra room I have in there now! I'm celebrating with a hot chocolate instead of the entire bakery that I was planning on buying 😁
  • Breakfast- fried eggs with toast, butter and marmite. Snack -Mocha, Almonds. Lunch - cream of mushroom soup with croutons Jelly Dinner - baked garlic chicken with broccoli, cauliflower cheese.
  • I prefer to call it 'off plan ' 😄 I go off plan most weekends. It slows my weight loss down - but gives me something to look forward to. I usually do it when I have social plans so I can enjoy myself and not worry about calories. I still log them - but then I move on and get back on it.
