Curious to find out what happened with this man!

I wish you all the best

The specific question I saw was: "I'm trying to cut down on both sugar and carbs for weight loss, but should I be focusing more on not eating sugars, or carbs?" I overlooked her second post, so if she's not hitting her calories, then you're right, she probably isn't overeating, and there's good reason for concern there.…

There you go OP - your gold standard as recommended by WHO is to eat no more than 25g or 6tsp of sugar a day. If you aren't aware of the sugar content of most processed foods already, have a look at a label on ketchup, for example, or even a packet of chips. And do check out Gillespie and Wilson.

There's a lot of oversimplification in these replies. There's lots of research to say sugar, in particular fructose, is addictive, and encourages overeating. That's completely different from other carbs, although the more processed they are, the worse. Check out the work of Sarah Wilson and David Gillespie on this. Adult…

Wow, sounds like you're doing amazingly well, congratulations! I guess it's just a long process of learning these lessons. We've all been learning them over and over - that's why we're here. And one day they'll stick! I reckon those pounds are going to come off much quicker than they did the first time - you have some…

this is appalling and I hope you complain to management!

I'm with the teacher on this - because a Pop Tart isn't food. Any food-like substance that is not only completely nutritionally worthless but also actively dangerous shouldn't be given to children - and children should know this!

All welcome to add me! Log religiously and post regularly. I believe in the power of support - it's helping me a lot and I find it motivating to support others too.

Everyone is welcome to add me

Do add me if you'd like.

Also, you're obviously an intelligent, articulate, and extremely caring person - there's a lot more to you than just the number on the scale (but still, I feel ya :)

Don't worry. You've already set the stage for brilliant success with your amazing home habits. Parents are absolutely maddening; that's why we leave home! Worst of all, we can't change them! This blip won't make much difference at all in the long term.

everyone is welcome to add me too!

i was standing in the pantry looking for something to mindlessly snack on when i realised 1) I didn't really want the block of chocolate there even though it is one of my biggest "treat" foods and 2) I can feel the bottom of my ribs! I managed to close the pantry door this time :)

We had an earthquake six weeks ago and our bedroom mirror fell down and broke. I haven't bothered to replace it yet because I am looking for something I really like. So because there are hardly any other mirrors in the house I have not been able to see myself much. Today I was at my mothers house and happened to glance in…

Flavoured tuna and a can of beans with a crunchy salad! Or a baked potato in the microwave with homemade chili and cheese.

Add me too! I have an open food diary and enjoy sharing and chatting.

Good reminder of the weekly spread, thanks!

I see party and afternoon snacks are counting for 40% of my calories! Major hint there ...
-
Well considering I've lost nothing in these first 3 weeks I'm clearly doing it wrong! I'll give myself a higher allowance and maybe they'll help the feeling of satisfaction -or I could just cut out the celebratory junk in tjthe first place! Have never done MFP or counted calories before so it's a big learning curve. Thanks…

Thank you! I tried to listen to my appetite - still had a bit of a blow out but could have been worse ... could have been better too! Hope your night was a success!

Have a look at some research on fructose (sugar) and how it triggers appetite hormones. It's not you .. it's the hormones telling you that you need something. Cut out the fructose and cravings for food - any food! - will slowly dissipate until your appetite is reset.
