  • last night I decided to heed some advice and raised the treadmill incline to 2%. I managed 2 miles (previously only managed half a mile before pain set in) and I have woken up pain free.
  • I too have been suffering knee pain after running so watching this thread for information. I'm a little confused though - whilst most advice would be to slow right down, I've heard that you should actually speed up so that your cadence is about 180 to avoid over striding? How can you slow right down and have a high cadence…
  • When I first started I could barely run a minute....now I can fairly comfortably do 30. Keep at it and go slow

  • yes I've been icing it but admittedly not every day. walking on it is fine, swimming fine, elliptical fine, rowing machine fine etc its just running that causes the pain!
  • so I rested for 4 days and went for a run last night....again bloody pain on the outside of my knee. time to book a physiotherapist I think!
  • yes I am fairly new to running so I guess it could be an overuse problem. going to give running a miss for the next 4 days and do some swimming instead.
  • was a given a nose and ear trimmer for Christmas.....it really hurt but they are much smaller now!!
  • My local pub is offering 2 courses for £10.....I've gone for Photography and First Aid!!

  • Thanks everyone. The pain is usually just below the knee cap and also on the outer side....I will certainly see a physio. The shoes are fairly new so certain they aren't the issue. I just thought it very strange that forcibly heel striking and leaning back felt so good!!
