  • I was thinking the same thing today when I looked at my glucomannam supplements as it has this written on the bottle. It has given a value of calories but the has a ++ Fiber is not digested, thus has no caloric effect note added. But I've only just started actually looking at what a label says for each fat/protein/carbs…
  • Could it be bloating? My step mum bloats easily with no weight change. She is still trying to work out what triggers it but some foods are worse than others.
  • I ran before getting hypothyroid and run now that I am medicated. I noticed a big difference in my ability to run faster. Within a couple of weeks of going on medication my max heart rate jumped about 20bpm and my ability to hold a faster speed increased. I had a pretty set running route and routine at the time so it was…
  • Can also be an indicator that its on its way out. My blaze started dropping its battery life, now I've noticed that only 1 heart rate light is working. My morning catalogue delivery earnt me 275cal for 40min walking but my 10km run tonight gave me 99 (but while i was running at about 8km it said 499 cal so not sure what…
  • I am your height and also stall about the same weight, its on the cusp of obese and overweight. For me its about the weight I start to feel a lot more confident, my belly roll is almost gone etc. I am not sure why I keep getting to that point and cant move below it. There's been a mixture of stuff that has happened at that…
  • If you didnt know what your bpm was before you cant stress about it being 58 now. Mine is usually between 55-60, perfectly normal for me, just like my blood pressure is normal for me at at 120/60. Because I know what my normal is I know if a result is abnormal, but you first have to know what normal for you is. BTW I am…
  • I'd agree with relooking at the Monday weigh in, esp if you do more exercise on the weekend as well as maybe eat more sodium over the weekend. While I dont weigh everyday anymore, after doing so for a while I worked out that Friday was usually my lightest day each week. For me I do catalogue deliveries Mon & Tues (about…
  • I am a member of 2 running clubs, both offer timed events. One does a run at different spot each week and also the odd bbq afterwards or special event the other is the same course each week. Both are purely social, motivation comes from the fact it is times and results are recorded but also seeing my family weekly (my Dad…
  • Are you allergic to anything? I ask because I am allergic to soap. Recently I bought a dif laundry liquid and then started having itching episodes. Took a shower which helped then wiped down with a towel which started it all over again something about my body being wet made it worse, clothes I wore during the day didnt…
  • I have really bad smelly feet and have tried everything and for me nothing works, I do wash my sneakers from time to time in the washing machine (put inside of a pillow case or laundry bag and take out insoles as they will wash better if separated). Best advice I can give is if you run a lot alternate 2 pairs of shoes so…
  • I was more pear in my teens, really overweight I was getting more apple. I am more hourglass at overweight rather than obese. But I can see my waist will never be a tiny as it once was but my shoulders are also wider now so more balanced.
  • I think BF and weight have been con You arent going to lose just body fat so to lose 5% BF its going to mean losing more than 7.35lbs. Adequate protein and strength training will help reduce muscle mass lost but wont eliminate it. I imagine you would probably need to lose at least 10lbs to lose 5% body fat with your…
  • I agree with no knee pushups, I personally was never able to transition to full pushups from them despite months of training. I didnt start on the wall but used a bed frame, then couch/weight bench and finally was able to do one full push up after about 8 weeks.
  • I was under the impression that 1% a month was reasonable http://www.livestrong.com/article/433037-how-much-body-fat-percentage-can-i-lose-in-one-month/
  • I wasnt suggesting to avoid salt, actually the opposite might be needed. After adding more salt into my diet I no longer suffer dizzy spells as it helps raise blood pressure. I have relatively low blood pressure, when I donate blood I am often asked to about dizzy spells, I once asked if all the water I drank beforehand…
  • Its sounds a lot like low blood pressure, have you cut out a lot of salt from your diet (moved away from processed foods?)
  • For 3 months I weighed everything, wore an activity tracker and kept a spreadsheet of all the data. I never hit the projected weight loss (I kept a track of what it said each day and averaged out for the week and then compared at the 5 week mark). I did use the data to predict my weight loss based on the data I collected…
  • My personal opinion is once you hit goal adjust amount of cardio or food to start with not both at the same time. I would start with adjusting the amount of activity you want to do per week and then look at food adjustments. One big reason I see on the forums for reverse dieting is to avoid the sudden jump in glucose…
  • A change in dr saw a change in what was considered normal for blood test results for me. I have also found a correlation for me between resting heart rate and thyroid. If its low over a period of time I know its time to get another blood test.
  • I have the same strategy, my upper body is quite weak so I am focusing on upper body over lower body when I am doing weight training (I only lift twice a week) although I also run once a week and walk twice a week (carrying a backpack of catalogues) so legs get additional workouts. Given you have a rest day between lifts…
  • What are you doing to treat the plantar fasciitis? I saw a podiatrist and wore a compression sock all day for about 4 months, changes everyday shoes to more supportive shoes. Didnt walk around in bare feet at all, got orthodics and did stretches/massage daily, ice after exercise. Overtime its mostly gone (about 6 months),…
  • I think the reason people see big ranges in carbs for a low cal diet is keto uses net carbs. Total carbs less fiber being net carbs. To be in ketosis you need to keep net carbs under 20g but total carbs might be 50g-80g (depending on the fiber content of the food).
  • I cant wear a lot of sleeves in office type clothing cause me arms are too big so I tend to go for sleeveless. While my arms might look better in sleeves the overall look more sack like for me. It does amaze me when I see much larger ladies wearing the same shirt style and they have all this room around their arms under…
  • Keeping active the next day helps, not sitting too long, short walk that type of thing. Icing after exercise, there are these neat new compression pants that have sleeves for icepacks (recoverrite). There's a reason atheltes jump in ice baths after a game:) You havent actually mentioned how often you run, if you are new…
  • Yes you do expect to be lower but if you put on 40pds during pregnancy and you baby was 8pds add 5pds for placenta/amniotic fluid . What's the other 27pds made up of? Mixture of extra blood, fluid retention etc. Thats going to take time to come of but if you weight yourself shortly after birth esp when your hormones are…
  • I got the surge for the built in GPS but found since I like music that I tend to carry my phone anyway. The band of my surge wore away, although I found a replacement band online that was easy to change and there are also sleeve covers now which would prevent the wear I had. I've worn it daily for about 2 years. I actually…
  • Ive never been able to do a full push up. I have had better luck moving from against the bed frame and now to a weight bench than trying to move from knees. To do a push up you need to be able to bench press about 65% of your bodyweight. I havent tested how much I can bench press in a while to see how much I have improved…
  • It was a great read, very honest. Your GP sounds great BTW, I havent had that type of positive relationship with a GP for over 10 years. I've tried a few but never clicked. I remembering bringing up weight with 1 who was quite dismissive and I came away embarrassed. Another who thought only ordered tests because I…
  • Without any stats. height, weight, age no one can offer an opinion. Distance traveled would also help to assess average speed.
  • While one of my best friends hasnt yet set a date I am expecting a wedding late this year/early next year. Knowing I have a fair bit of weight to lose I thought best to start now:) TBH I haven't dialed in my eating completely as yet and I have been trying to make exercise part of my routine. I have a goal of doing a 13km…
