  • Also worth doubling checking what device its choosing steps from. After an update mine switched from fitbit to phone steps (and I dont carry my phone around with me). In apps- steps on the PC
  • Reminds me of screaming in labor, my midwife basically told me not to waste my energy on it. I dont openly grunt either, there might be weird breathing noises and the occasional fart though:)
  • The 2200-2400 takes into account exercise from what you've said so it looks like you've been reading TDEE calorie suggestions(includes exercise burns in calorie allowance). Was this a ball park figure like in an article or a figure using your stats (height, weight age). No one's going to be able to knowledgeably comment on…
  • I am not sure what my ultimate goal weight is. ATM its getting out of obese and into overweight range. Even that I've broken into 2 goals. Then I would like to work towards a BMI of 25 or maybe a bf% not sure yet. Either way for me it easier to focus on small goals because the ultimate goal is probably like 30% weight loss…
  • If you'll use it and it keeps you away from food temptations I'd do it. I used to do a 45min class at the gym on a regular basis and if I didnt have clients wouldn't change back into office gear 1/2 the time. I am not a huge sweater so I could skip a shower. I didnt have a home gym at the time I had babies at home which…
  • I have a full time office job, but I also have 3 young kids. While I am at work my steps are inline with a sedentary person but outside of the office hours I have 3 (actually 4) people I have to run around after. I easily do 2k steps before I get to work @7:30 and we have an upstairs/downstairs house so plenty of steps…
  • Not sure a swim suit would give you you enough support in the chest, depending on what type you wear and what activities you are doing but if you belly's flopping.. I tend to look for tights that have a wide waistband (usually means they sit higher up and cover belly).
  • You may find it hard to hit max intensity on that machine now too esp as it seems some of your weight is supported by the machine. I have trouble getting over a certain speed on an elliptical, I think I can go faster but I havent quite got the right form as the machine starts to rock/move slightly so I am hesitant to push…
  • My Dad had a heart attack at 60, apparently it was genetic his Dad had 2 in a year at age of 50 (but Dad was overseas at the time traveling and didnt find out as his dad was recovered by the time my parents returned home) . Dr said the fact Dad was fit and didn't smoke would have contributed to him having one later.
  • I've never tried one myself but my Dad has one. Swears it was great for neck/shoulder pain as he was on the computer 10-12hr days. Now he's semi- retired and doesnt sit on the computer all day he doesnt use it.
  • Yes and my scales sync automatically so sometimes when I know it will be up due to haven't eaten late or excessive weekend I'll skip weighing in for a few days to try let some of the water weight go first. My newsfeed is full of posts about how I've lost the same 1-2 kg over and over for the month only down about 1 kg for…
  • I should have added that while running was my main goal previously I am switching to a strength focus ATM.
  • Adding in strength training as your cross training is a good idea. I would repeat the last 4 week cycle not the last week over and over as its given you a bit of a breather the week before leading up to the race with the 'long' run on the Sunday. My 10k training guide has the last week as 2 consecutive rest days before the…
  • I weigh 200pds and 22min on the elliptical was 267 according to my Fitbit. I do interval type stuff too. So your burn seems about right.
  • Different people have different heart rates. I have a low RHR around 50. I have difficulty getting my heart rate up during exercise as well and different exercises will affect my heart rate differently. A hard slog on the elliptical wont result in a heart rate as high as a jog for me. Being fitter/in good shape means it…
  • I find that if I clean vigorously one day I tend to be extra lazy the next day so it evens out. I avg about 7k steps with day to day activity and desk job but can easily do 15k on the weekend just doing normal chores. Mainly due to the fact my laundry is located downstairs.
  • The calories left will take into account the goal you've entered so if you have entered a goal to lose 1pd per week it will already account for the deficit you want to achieve.
  • I have a fitbit surge. I wanted it because I wanted the non-connected GPS. I had planned to buy headphone with internal memory. In reality they took way longer to come out (I was eyeing the Bragi ones) and by the time they did I had other things I needed to spend my money on. I have no idea if the calorie burn is right,…
  • I am in the same boat as you, I hate wearing sleeves as they are often too tight. In fact I cant wear my work uniform atm purely because my arms dont fit into it and my dominant arm has some definition that pops through even though its actually the bigger arm. Add to that the fact I am not flat chested so shirts are a…
  • Probably because there's less of you now so proportionally its bigger. I think it depends on where the tattoo was and when it was done. My sister was slim when she had a tattoo on her hip @18, she gained a fair bit of weight during both her pregnancies (from about 60kg to 80kg) first child was @30 and being on her hip its…
  • Yep that enough equipment for strong lifts. I like the work out rack! What to start with will depend on where your strength is starting from. If you havent done much weight lifting you'll make bigger gains quickly. We mainly have 10kg plates at home with a set of 5kg and 2.25kg for increments. Dont get too many small…
  • I havent noticed a difference in weight the next day, I do tend to drink more water than normal that day so that probably masks it.
  • I has gallstones while preg but wasnt diagnosed till afterwards. But its hereditary in my family so my sister managed to get diagnosed while still preg after recognising the symptoms from my preg. She had to follow low fat too so low fat dairy, very little red meat. Mainly fish (white) and chicken. Lots and lots of salad.…
  • Lactation may hang around for some time. I finished breastfeeding my 1st around 5 months too, I still had some milk until I fell preg again when she was 15mths old and I temporarily lost it. But weight wise it didnt have any affect on me.
  • We finally worked out how to change the resistance setting after 5 years! It provides a much better workout now.
  • Where are you logging it as exercise? If you log it in Fitbit it wont double count. If you log it in MFP well its shouldn't matter if you have them syncing as MFP will still refer to Fitbit for total cals burned. As a rule of thumb use only 1 app for logging 1 type of thing i.e. fitbit for exercise and MFP for food not a…
  • I usually only fit in 2 sessions M-F of exercise, Sat & Sun I am usually busy catching up on laundry and cleaning though that's a workout in itself. It was hard for me to adapt to formal exercise only twice a week (I was 6 days a week or nothing at all type of person). But I am getting used to it now. If you do find a…
  • Is this a new thing? My scales went a little haywire just before they died. My body fat dropped 10% overnight then they stopped doing bf%.
  • Using diet soda might help with relieving the symptoms (weight gain due to excess calories consumed during a binge) but its not actually helping the cause being the desire to binge. Is there an underlying reason/trigger for the cravings/binges? To give you an example. I am addicted to regular coke, having discovered I have…
