  • Regarding vegetables:* I told my cousin that I loved lima beans, so she made me some. They were awful (she cooked them to mush). Definitely experiment with different ways to cook vegetables. I personally enjoy the convenience of Birds Eye SteamFresh veggies and eat a half a bag at a time. * Experiment with different spices…
  • Unsweetened applesauce mixed with walnut pieces and cinnamon, and sliced deli ham.
  • Regarding the exercise recommendations, do you mean cardio, strength training, or both to help lower cholesterol?
  • Not a thing. Here's a good forum post on the topic: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/761810/the-starvation-mode-myth-again
  • Because the spam was posted today... the exact same text on multiple old threads. Looks like it's been cleaned up now.

  • Me? No, but I only have my weight loss set to 0.5 lb per week. I use my steps to increase that deficit so I'm averaging a 0.75 lb loss per week. As others have suggested in this thread, you need to track your weight loss (for 4 to 6 weeks) and then compare it to your expected weight loss and adjust accordingly. Use this…

  • Ack. Pacer considers sedentary to be less than 3000 steps and lightly active to be 3000 to 5999 steps (from their FAQ). Stupid Pacer making me feel more active than I should...

  • Barbecue pulled chicken. You throw in your chicken and favorite barbecue sauce. I have my own sauce recipe, so I throw in the chicken and all of the ingredients (no mixing necessary). When done, I pull out and shred the chicken then add it back into the sauce. Yum!
  • I put chopped up baby spinach and riced cauliflower in my sweet oatmeal. Yummy! (I'm always looking for ways that taste good to me to sneak in more vegetables...)

  • LOL. I've ordered soda for breakfast for decades for my caffeine fix. I hated coffee. So, I got used to the comments and weird looks. I simply responded that I hated coffee. Although, I like coffee now, so I'll have to think up a different comeback...

  • Kind of similar to @AnnPT77's Method 3 in How to Find Your Maintenance Calorie Level (https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10638211/how-to-find-your-maintenance-calorie-level/p1). Specifically, I have a spreadsheet set up where I track my daily MFP net calories. I then average the 30 previous days (first…
  • Look at what a diet break is doing for my TDEE. Wow. Just wow. (Orange numbers are the end of the 14 day diet break. I probably should have started it sooner--it was 4 months after my previous diet break.)
  • I've been considering trying out sling TV. Not quite a la carte, but you can choose either the orange ($20/month) or blue ($25/month) lineup (or both for $45) and then add on other "mini packages" for additional $5 each.
  • I had been eating in a deficit at about 1200 to 1400 calories per day, but for my birthday last year, I didn't care. I had a big dinner and dessert (along with eating normally the rest of the day). I ate just under 3,000 calories that day. The next morning, I stepped on the scale and... had LOST 0.2 pounds from the day…
  • I hate cooking, but I had to learn to do it to follow the diet the doctor put me on. I've had to throw out a few things that turned out just plain nasty and inedible (and ate my "backup" meal instead). However, I've gotten pretty good with a few things and now like to eat them a lot better than prepackaged or restaurant…
  • Wow. You look so much younger. Good job!

  • Nope. But, I'm in the middle of a planned diet break (http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10604863/of-refeeds-and-diet-breaks/p1) and eating at maintenance.
  • Yes, please eat more. Here's an excerpt from a helpful post (http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10569458/why-eating-too-little-calories-is-a-bad-idea/p1) by @tinkerbellang83:
  • ^^^This, except I use a weight trending website instead of a spreadsheet.
  • My doctor put me on the paleo diet and told me to get the MFP app. 1) Did restricting your food choices make it easier for you to stick to a calorie goal well enough to lose a substantial amount of weight? Yes. I've lost almost 80 pounds. I couldn't believe how easy it was for me on the paleo diet. 2) Did you plan to…
  • Every day. I make sure it fits my calories. I've also heard (my family doctor, Dr. Mike Israetel) that science supports a 75%/25% or 80%/20% rule--Eat healthy (varied, nutrient dense) about 75% to 80% of the time and don't worry about the other 20% to 25%.
  • What an awesome post. Just read if for the first time (came here from another thread via link posted by @Tiny_Dancer_in_Pink).
  • Just to let you know, minimum healthy intake for a female is 1200.

  • Confusing. Labdoor ranks Garden of Life high on purity (heavy metal content below 1PPM). Clean Label Project ranks it low (arsenic/mercury/cadmium/lead). Labdoor offers the products for sale. Clean Label Project doesn't (not that I can see), but does offer "certification" that products can use in their marketing. Labdoor…
