  • Excellent @EVP_NZ ! Keep up the great attitude and don't let the prednisone get you down. It will do what it will do while you are on it, and then all that will be in the past.
  • Welcome aboard Jason, and thank you for your service! Start your own discussion thread so we can follow your progress.
  • Well said!!! I was waiting to share this, but I spent my splurge day on my feet Sunday, outdoor cooking was involved, beers were involved, spaghetti and meatballs were involved, lots of candy was involved (because I was tired), end result 6 lbs weight gain! Six! Oh the humanity! ;) Back on track today. What's a week in the…
  • So glad you find it effortless, I think it's a lifestyle. Welcome aboard!!!
  • Some weeks are weird. I like weighing myself daily because it gives me more visibility as to what's going on, and also it's educational to know that some days, the weight either piles on or off with no evident rhyme or reason. But I know that Joe recommends weekly weigh ins, so consider this advice an outlier ;)
  • oh wow both of you are on it, that is so great! thanks for sharing @MandyxSchmitz and yes I identify too with wanting to eat the house late at night. This plan has done a lot for me too to calm that down. And yes, it's a life plan, not a 'diet', or a 'program'. Please keep sharing and get hubby on here too!
  • unstructured time on the weekends is my challenge as well. Drinking lots of water or zero cal beverages, staying busy, having a tsp of coconut oil if it gets really bad, that seems to help. Sundays are my usual 'splurge' day, so that helps.
  • That is awesome! The shape and slope of your weight loss trend looks about like mine.
  • Down 2.75 lbs this week, total weight loss is 27 lbs over the past 9 weeks. SW was 237.75, CW is 210.75 lbs. Still feel like I'm learning, but feeling more in control. Still not counting calories, just eating in a 2-4 hour window, trying to eat 'healthy', carb conscious but not low carb, exercising regularly but not…
  • On splurge days, I don't think it's a hard and fast rule either. I would echo @Mom2annie's caution about being too rule focused. The only mistakes I feel I've made on splurge days is to eat ice cream (I know, right?) and to weigh myself the morning after a splurge day. Just try to eat healthy and 'normally', however that…
  • good link, thanks!
  • Current weight 214, 206 by end of March
  • Wow, what an awesome pro tip!
  • Wow, I'm wearing a big ol' smile over here . . . . great decision, especially the part that you feel good and relieved! That's tells you something.
  • Coconut oil is solid at room temperature, and I like the taste of coconut, so I just dig out a spoonful and eat it. The stuff we have is by Spectrum. If you don't like the taste of coconut, maybe medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil? It's a refined coconut oil that people use for bulletproof coffee, for example. For that…
  • I find when I hit the chocolate my 'head hunger' monster really wakes up! I like to keep that big ol' boy asleep in his cave as much as I can . . . :p
  • But mostly just try to ride it out. Hunger pangs, when and if they come, are usually short lived.
  • If you have tough hunger pangs during the daily fast, drink lots of beverages. Hot or cold, your preference, just make sure they don't contain calories. If that doesn't help, several here have suggested taking a teaspoon of coconut oil. Those are calories to be sure, but no sugars, and it doesn't spike blood insulin much.…
  • I usually have my big meal when I get home from work, and then maybe have something extra like fruit and yogurt later if I still want something. But I think it's just a personal preference thing; not sure that doing it one way or the other makes much of a difference. The magic happens when you stop calorie intake for 20-22…
  • I've seen benefits adhering to a four hour eating window, but I usually try to contain it to two hours. But if I go over, I don't beat myself up about it.
  • Some people count calories and/or macro nutrients (prot, carb, fat), but I do not. I do try to eat 'carb conscious', which just means I don't stuff myself with simple carbs, but try to balance it out. Most days I am barely hungry. Sometimes a day comes around where hunger pangs return, but that is more of the exception…
  • Good goal!
  • Isn't it interesting to look forward to the fasting day, because you feel too full on the splurge day? I've had this too, and it IS surprising!
  • Right on the cusp of the 60's, congratulations!
  • Lowest in 10 years is darned exciting! Happy for you!
  • Good weekend, but a little off track so far this week . . . time to get it in gear!
  • what I do know is that if I concentrate on exercise, I can eat my way to nix all the benefits of the most intense exercise. The kitchen is for weight loss, the gym is for fitness.
  • Going to give Friday fasts a shot starting this week. Getting my gum ready . . . ;)
  • King cake is a pastry traditionally served between Epiphany and Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday, last day before Lent). Usually there's a plastic baby inserted somewhere in the king cake, and whoever gets the baby has to bring it next, so it's kind of a game too. Popular in workplaces in Louisiana this time of year. Here's a Baton…
