  • Why not play with your kids? Have a crazy dance party, kick the ball around, ride bikes, chase around the park, make up games/activity that will engage you both and give you exercise. I'm sure a 4 and 5 year old would love that. Of course, my kids have fur so that is just a guess...lol.

  • Personally I do well on 1200 calories a day but each of us is different. If I were hungry all the time I wouldn't be able to sustain that kind of eating long term. It is great that you are listening to your body. That is what I would do as well. For me the 1200 calories is set to give me a 2lb/week loss but I don't worry…
  • I changed the battery in my scale to make sure it was reading accurately. I also take measurements once a month as sometimes the scale doesn't move but the inches do. It is hard not to be discouraged but remind yourself that this is a marathon and not a sprint. If you keep working on the plan the changes will come. Good…
  • I have been on 1200 since the beginning of Jan. 2017. I am not very active. I have pretty much stuck to it with the exception of a couple days vacation or a meal out here and there. I have lost 16 lbs to date and 9.5". I have not had a lot of cravings which makes it easy for me to eat very well and keep treats and junk to…
  • I generally weigh after cooking and when I look up a food item in the list I look for one that specifies cooked.
  • Wow. I had no idea what some people were putting up with at home. While my husband really needs to lose weight and he isn't doing anything about it, he is definitely not unsupportive. He hasn't commented on my weight loss but is encouraging when I update him on pounds or inches lost. He complains sometimes about being…
  • I dropped from 2 to 1 tsp sugar this morning. It was alright. Not too bitter. I may get off sugar yet...or not.
  • I was down 6" with about a 10 lbs loss. It definitely happens.

  • I have the opposite problem. I always think I am smaller than I really am. I think it is because I was so underweight growing up. I was always the skinny boney one. Once I put on a little weight I stayed fairly steady because my work was so active. When I got a desk job I didn't even realize I put on 25 lbs until I saw a…
  • I drink less smoothies in the winter cause I hate the cold, but... Cucumber and Pineapple together is really good, add whatever milk/water you prefer, I add frozen spinach instead of ice I had cookies and cream protein powder this morning with a banana and almond milk If you are craving a treat, something ice cream-like, a…
  • I started with deep breathing as a way to manage pain but the other side effects were relaxation and stress reduction. Just taking a few minutes to sit quietly and focus on your breathing can make a world of difference. It doesn't have to be a long formal thing. And I did also do it lying in bed at night to quiet an…
  • I am weaning myself down. I used to take a liberal 2-3 "teaspoons" (like a spoon from the drawer) and plenty of cream, now I take an actual measuring spoon and take 2 real teaspoons and 1/4 cup 2% milk. I am not brave enough to go cold turkey. Might be time to try reducing the sugar a bit though. I probably won't ever skip…
  • I'm sorry you are stuck with this. I ended up on Depo Prevera and that worked wonders for me. No periods at all. However, one of my friends can't find anything that works for her. Depo had the opposite effect for her. The body is an amazing and difficult thing to understand. Before Depo I had a prescription for Naproxen.…
  • I use You Tube as well, Jillian Michaels and Tiffany Roth. I also picked up a super cheap exercise bike second hand and got some resistance bands.
  • You don't have to eat at a set time or on a schedule either. If you are hungry at 9 pm then keep some calories and plan for a snack or a late meal. I am not very active and my calories are 1200/day. You don't have to eat rabbit food either if you cannot reach 1200 calories a day. It is ok to eat more fat or higher calorie…
  • Congratulations. You can do it, slowly but surely is the way to go.
  • Until your thyroid is at a controlled level you cannot do much. I gain 10 lbs in a blink when mine is under treated with no changes to anything. You just need to continue eating according to your calorie goals. Make sure you weigh and measure everything properly and log everything you eat. Keep building on those healthy…
  • When my thyroid is under treated I can easily gain 10 lbs without any changes to my diet or lifestyle and it also makes me very tired. Since you are in the midst of having your dose adjusted I would say to continue what you are doing. You are developing good habits with meal planning, weighing and measuring your food. I am…
  • You can google it and find examples
  • When you are struggling and feeling down, pop over to the success boards. There are tons of inspiring people and pictures that have lost a variety of weight. It is such a motivator seeing that other "real" people were able to succeed, it reminds me that I can too.
  • FYI @RaeBeeBaby ...Barley has gluten. I make my own granola. It makes a lot and lasts quite a while. If you have a bulk food store nearby you can buy just the amounts you need. Mine has a great GF section. I eat granola with yogurt and fruit most days. If you want to be healthful as well, skip the GF pasta and use a…
  • I hop over to the success stories and look at the amazing before and after pics. It reminds me that I can be strong and do it like they did. I make a chocolate peanut butter smoothie that is awesome. It is just a frozen banana, 1 Tbsp. cocoa powder, 1-2 Tbsp. natural peanut butter (or other nut butter) and enough almond…
  • It has been helping me a lot. I have an under active thyroid but it is well under control. I only have issues with losing weight when it is undertreated, when that happens the pounds appear like magic. In the last month (since I joined) I have lost 10 lbs and 6". I am not super active (yet) and have my calories set at…
  • I love tuna, I mix it up and have it on lettuce. Also chef's salads with lean deli meats and egg whites. I make sweet potato hash and top with a fried egg and some cheese. I eat a lot of stir fries with either pork strips or chicken. I also love pork tenderloin. I use ground turkey or pork to make taco meat and serve over…
  • I've eaten 1200 calories for the last month. Feel free to nose around my diary to see what I have been eating. I am just gradually adding workouts. You sound much more active so you would want to make sure you eat back a chunk of those exercise calories to keep you going. I am careful to try and eat balanced so I haven't…
  • I create my own recipes in the app. Just measure/weigh and input all of the ingredients you are using. I usually guesstimate how many servings and than adjust it afterward once I actually see the end result. It works really well since trying to cook separately for me and my husband was a huge pain. MFP will save your…
  • If you are eating well and exercising with a goal to be healthy you will get there. It isn't always about the number on the scale. Losing inches and feeling good is just as good an indicator. I weigh often but only actually count it once a week. If you find yourself obsessing over the scale you may want to just weigh in…
  • My motivation sort of came out of nowhere too. I have been at it for a month now and dropped 10 lbs and 6". Mainly through keeping to my calories. I am working on being more active but I consider that a bonus. I have never been fit in my life. Slim but not healthy. What keeps me going is how unbelievably good I have been…
  • I do a 10 minute Tiffany Roth video on You Tube. It doesn't seem like much but I really feel it the next day. Jillian Michaels also has 6 week 6 pack on You Tube. She does cardio intervals with it as well. I can't do the whole thing but I am working up to it.
