  • I have been using MFP for almost a year now (Jan. 15/17) and, while I have lost around 48 lbs, the weight loss stalls regularly - the trend is almost like stair steps. Only 3 lbs away from my goal weight but that goal seems so far away at times. The NSV is that today I took my measurements, as I have done from time to…
  • This is so true! Especially the two pounds up - takes a conscious effort to get my head under control when this happens.

  • Your diary shows (recent) exercise calories earned ranging from 600-1500ish. That might be a bit high if it is based on number of steps and weight training, particularly if you are eating most of those back. For comparison, a hour of running earns me about 400 exercise calories and I rarely eat back more than 50% of those.…

  • @dutchandkiwi That is an absolutely beautiful post - so inspiring. Congratulations on your accomplishments and especially on the new job!
  • Exactly this. I am amazed on the number of people on trails that have absolutely no situational awareness. When you pass them, they are obviously startled. If person with nefarious intent (!!) came along...........they would have no chance!
  • Thanks @tammierlewis. I definitely benefited from the support of other MFP users to keep going when the scale seemed stuck or my motivation was absent!
  • @lizasalsera Welcome to MFP and 'well done' on your progress and commitment. You have a great attitude: So now I have a choice, focus on the negative and resign myself to operations and re-couperation over the next 12-18 months, or, work with what I have and find a way to get the job done. I chose the latter. This is a…

  • Went shopping today for a dress to wear to our staff Christmas party in a couple of weeks. Decided to check out one of the thrift shops to see what I could find. And did I find! Got a jean dress that is lightweight, a bit of stretch and a good length (at knees). It was a size medium and I hoped that it would fit but could…
  • Exactly this! Madwife I, too, have read your posts about the activities you do with your children and have commented on your amazing mothering skills. This was just one very small moment out of so many that you have with your children. I get that, as a parent, we beat ourselves up, feel guilty, etc. - try to let go of what…

  • Absolutely. Too much of the so-called free/zero point food contributed greatly to my 40 lb. weight gain over 10 years. Sure, they are low calories foods but those calories add up.

  • In my experience, people who see me frequently don't notice (ie. co-workers, good friends) - and I can understand that. It's the people who haven't seen me for a while that notice. A few comment but many do not.
  • Northern Ontario here. Love the outdoors, so winter running and snowshoeing are my activities of choice in the winter. For those days when it is bitter cold (wind chill), swimming with a wonderful sauna afterwards is my goto activity and cross-training. Had to learn to embrace winter ;)
