  • Hi all, I am not new to MFP, but for some odd reason I had not heard of this group until the last 24 hours. But then I did, and am here now. I have always had a weight issue, bet the list of diets tried is way longer than not tried. Until really in last 3/4 years. I started here on MFP and low carb in 2016 at did not last…
  • Yoga and Stretch exercises on the floor. I have now lost 80 lbs, and still have quite a ways to go. And to be honest it has only been in the last month, that I can easily get up and down from the floor. Before I was terrified if I went down, I would not be able to get back up by myself. Was doing Yoga from Chair and some…

  • If your husband just started Keto in December, then his lipids being high have nothing to do with KETO. I am a type 2 diabetic. My numbers were not good at all in August 2019, because I had fallen off the wagon and was eating carbs all over the place. But I came to my senses, and went back to eating low carb, not quite…
  • When I started I wrote down my list of why this time was going to be different. I have that list in my Iphone, and on my desk at home. And review it ongoing. Still on my journey but down 80 lbs. But so far I have made it back to being a controlled Type2 diabetic, all my blood lipids are normal. I want to be healthy as I…
  • Go to Goals, at the top on the left hand side there will be an edit button. You may need to play around a bit to get them to what you want, as there are defaults set in system but you can override them. You can put in the percentages you want, to get to total calories system states per day. I knew how many grams I was…
  • You can do this, you knew to come back and get back in the groove again. I started at 305, I am now at 226. Final destination not totally sure. Right around 165ish, I am 5'9" and 61. There is a monthly challenge for losing 5lbs each month, I have been on that every month and have found it very helpful. You can aim for more…
  • To lose weight, there must be a reduction in calories. Meaning overall we burn more calories than we are taking in. So calories are always the leader. But for some and I fall in that category as I follow low carb for a medical reason. I have a split of macros that equal out to amount of calories I am allowed per day.
  • So if you were having blood tests done that required you to fast prior. In general that means nothing to eat or drink 10 to 12 hours before the blood is drawn. The only time, I then drink additional water prior to the test, is a minimum amount to take medication. And yes, I admit often at the lab where I go, I end up…
  • Behavior modification is a real thing, and huge in changing the way we view food. Great job.
  • Congratulations, great progress so far. Sure you will make that goal.
  • That is a great success story!
  • Normally, I would agree with what others wrote. But I happened to notice another post you wrote in. I think it depends on when you take your diabetes medications, how much you take. Are you following a specific low carb/keto plan calorie wise? While I understand no two diabetics are completely the same. I have found…
  • Starting as of Wednesday 1/1/2020 I am doing overall well. Have had a few days where missed Fiber goal. The plague has visited our house as well. I had the easier version, I think but now have a sinus/ear infection. So the netti pot and lots of hot tea are being used. As of 1/12/2020 down 2.4 lbs in January 2020. Water: 96…
  • Great motivator and great job so far. I am down 75 + plus and am T2 diabetic so understand all about that. You look great in your update pic! Keep up the good work.
  • Great topic, and I totally agree. I am 75+ lbs down and still going. It is interesting to say the least of where I can tell a difference and where I think when will it change any. But I know it has to have changed because reducing sizes of clothing. Plus after the first 40 came off, I actually started measuring which I was…
  • Interesting topic, and while I can say that for vegetables I do tend to get organic, buy at vegetable/fruit stands local. Much more than buy at large chains. And really make a concentrated effort to use up all the edible parts in veges and fruits. For meats/poultry/fish I aim to buy in portion size or cut down to portion…
  • Me I follow low carb, however what drives that is how many calories I am to eat per day. So yep my LC still is driven by calories in, calories out.
  • So when your Dr. did chat with you. Did he/she by chance suggest any type of nutrition plan? Reason I ask that prior to making any type of suggestion about macro splits is with those type of numbers. I would have guessed that a Dr. office would be suggesting a type of diet, or sending you off to see a dietician. MFP has…
  • Original starting weight - May 2018 305 January starting weight - 228 January goal - 223 Ultimate goal - Once at 188, I will determine a more realistic goal. I weigh in on Saturdays 1st - 228 4th- 227.8 11th - 226.4 18th - 25th - So far down 2.4 lbs in January. Back to routine, and making sure for me to drink lots of that…
  • Take it slow and easy, small things count as well. Park a bit farther away when you go grocery shopping or run errands. Not at the far end of parking lot, but maybe 10 spaces farther than what you normally would. When that becomes easy, make it farther. Start walking, at a pace you are comfortable with and over time you…
  • Congratulations on your progress! I too am on that journey lost 77 so far, and will lose the other 55. I joking tell people I am losing a person. And you are so right, until we overcome the mental part, it does not happen. You go lady!!
  • Original starting weight - May 2018 305 January starting weight - 228 January goal - 223 Ultimate goal - Once at 188, I will determine a more realistic goal. I weigh in on Saturdays 1st - 228 4th- 227.8 11th - 18th - 25th - Total loss for January - HAHA I will take the .2 I was up 3 lbs on the 2nd. Up through the 27th I…
  • Here is another source that shows it a bit differently. Does not list every exercise but quite a few major ones. https://whatscookingamerica.net/Information/CalorieBurnChart.htm
  • I remember seeing the following on a post here in 2019. Was by someone with lots of posts, and much more knowledgeable than me. There was a factor used for walking I think it was .31 X what your weight is. Then take that number and multiple it by how far you walked (miles). That would roughly give you a good estimate of…
  • Consider pre-logging food. I have found that to be extremely helpful. The other thing that has really helped me. Is that I bag up snacks in the 100 to 150 calorie range, including their carb, fat and protein amounts. I do low carb (diabetic). I have a decent size breakfast, bigger lunch, and dinner is the smallest. I…
  • Agree there are lots of net carb entries in data base. Another way I do it is on the reports section you can see in chunks of time how many carbs per day, as well as how many fibers in grams per day. I also changed out on my macros sugars for fiber. I am always under for sugar so did not feel it was important to track. But…
  • Until my head was in the game, I did not lose weight. Outside things will not make you lose weight. I made a pro and con list for what weight loss would do for me. And I taped that list, it was brutal to my desk hutch. Pro things like being healthier, able to get off some of my diabetic medication. Maybe not having to get…
  • So do you really think lots of people fall in this category really? I do low carb, not Keto but pretty low carb. And rule number 1 is what is the calorie total for the day. I am always creating dinners and so on. And I never make anything without building in a recipe calculator which means yes I need to know carbs, fats,…
  • So the Thinsters cookies are out too. And they even promised no fake anything in them. All good food like real sugar, real butter, no preservatives and so on. Very tasty. but I never not even for a nano second thought gee if I eat these they will help with weight loss. The article about the diet soda, incredible...
