  • Picking back up is so hard. That is a huge success. 👏🏻
  • Looking good!
  • Evenly enough to where slight gains are hard to notice, with an emphasis on hips/thighs. I tend to lose first in my waist, face, and fingers.
  • Put some cheese on it! I struggle to keep my fat macro balanced....most of this is because of my abiding love for full-fat dairy.
  • Seriously, that Salsa Authentica. Would eat that stuff on cardboard.
  • The Greek Gods. I’m pretty sure they have a nonfat version, although I use the whole milk version.
  • If you are a straight up beginner, I would recommend dropping in on a few classes before transitioning to an at-home practice. A quality instructor will help you learn the basic poses and provide modifications to some of the more challenging positions. As said by others, yoga doesn’t offer a large calorie burn, but is…
  • Like others have said, I tend to use the closest chain restaurant proximate, although I rarely eat at chains. Not 100% accurate, but close enough to not break the (deficit) bank. I’m so craving Mexican now....there is a Mexican place right next to my gym, and I’ve been smelling fresh baked tortilla chips every day. Gonna…
  • #ExerciseSelfCare. A reminder to both practice self-care in general, and that exercise is part of how I take care of myself mind, body, and spirit. "Is this worth it?"--this is my "diet". I lack the patience and inclination for anything more structured that calorie counting and asking myself this question. Is it worth the…
  • I'd personally be as mean as a striped snake if I only ate once a day, but so long as your are well-nourished and satisfied, I see no harm in one meal a day.
  • I try to snap up deals at consignment stores, and stick to garments that I have a good "range" in--something that will still look OK a bit down the road. Nothing too fitted or tailored, stretchy and flowy fabrics, that sort of thing. Belts and safety pins can also be your friend. :-)
  • Does your Y by chance have a women’s only workout room? That’s where I started doing free weights. It’s a lot less testosterone-y, and got me to a point where I feel somewhat comfortable using dumbbells. Still not 100% comfy, but getting there. Good luck!
  • I normally work it in to my goals. I have found that at my current activity level, I can work in moderate indulgences and still lose. It also helps that I generally only eat two meals a day on Saturday/Sunday, and don't feel the need to snack as much as I do during the work-week. Today I'm probably eating at maintenance. I…
  • I do Blue Apron, which I believe to be similar. It helps with portion control, the ingredients have been good, and it's broken me out of a pretty severe "meal rut". I'm probably going to take a break from it in the summer--I'm an adjunct professor during the Fall/Spring semesters--but it's done a lot to preserve my time…
  • Generally I just walk a whole lot more than usual. I love exploring new places on foot.
  • For me--yes. I can't comfortably maintain a deficit or, frankly, mental health without it. For you--maybe not.
  • I did "Whole 20" January 2017. I had intended to do the whole program--made it to Inauguration Day. I HATED it. I've known lots of people who have tried it, loved it, do it on the regular for a "reset". It just did not work for me. I probably take too much pleasure in food and eating (hence the 50-ish pounds I'm trying to…
  • I'm an Apple Watch user, former FitBit user. It helps remind me to be active and helps track my calorie expenditure. It's good motivation. It's not 100% accurate. For instance, it thought I was exercising when I was waiting on a verdict announcement on a case I tried. Just apply some common sense to your calorie…
  • Every. Single. One. I wear an Apple Watch, which seems to be fairly accurate since I'm losing at about my expected rate.
  • I do my best to fit it in to my allowance. I mostly drink bourbon on the rocks, so no extra mixer calories.
  • Mashed sweet potatoes and turkey sausage is my go-to to-go (hehe) breakfast right now. I've been varying my toppings a bit--this week it was raisins and coconut, last week it was chopped pecans. Next week may be adobo sauce, I love savory stuff in the mornings. :-)
  • I am definitely motivated by the idea of being able to wear more styles. I stick a few different cuts to best flatter my current body--lots of stretchy fabrics, A-line/fit and flare, skirts and dresses only, no pants. I'm known for my style, and I enjoy how I dress, but I think at the end of this I will feel more…
  • Whisps. They’re made out of Parmesan cheese, 13g protein per serving, and crunch/salty/delicious.
  • One thing I try to do is go talk to my coworkers rather than email or call. Win/win, as it gets me up and builds rapport.
  • Try it both ways and see what feels better. For me, it works better to exercise on an empty stomach. Like, much better. Better performance, better stamina, and (tmi) much less likely to nearly poop my pants mid-cardio session.
  • Put ice in a glass. Add bourbon. Drink. OK, I realize that's a bit extreme for most people. I made some tasty cocktails this summer with muddled fruit, mint or basil, and fizzy water. Gin, strawberry, and basil was my favorite. Bourbon, blackberry, and mint is also quite tasty.
  • Me! 5'9", 235-ish, aiming for 175. 1800-ish feels pretty good to me--it's high enough to where I'm not hungry all the time, but low enough to keep me losing at a good clip. My daily intake ranges from about 1600-2100, so it's more what you might call "guidelines".
  • I work 60ish hours a week (attorney plus adjunct professor) and definitely have to work out in the mornings. I go to the gym near my office, take my work clothes, and get ready there. It’s a pain in the *kitten*, as I have to prepack clothes, toiletries, as well as breakfast and lunch, but worth it. Plus not gonna lie, I…
  • I generally exercise on an empty stomach because I find it more comfortable to do so. Exercise tends to get my digestive system going, so best not to have too much in my belly. I’m also generally not hungry until I’ve been up for a couple of hours. Occasionally, I’ll wake up ravenous and will eat half a banana or whatever.
  • My Nalgene has served me for several years and put up with a lot of abuse. I put it in the freezer half-full most nights, drop it multiple times a day, throw it in my work bag without leaks, etc.
