Way to go, keep at it! May I ask just how much you have lost from picture to picture? I totally feel you on the bar/lunch/dinner situation, so stress inducing. Hard to explain to someone that you don't want to go to hooters because the lightest thing on the menu is almost your entire day's calories....

Something I have wondered about. Why surgery? Not being judgmental in the least, do what works for you, but I'm curious. Ive done a big loss without the surgery even when offered the opportunity, its required lots of work, and effort. But you have to do that even with the surgery. Its not a magical cure that will let you…

1400 cal per day since about mid February. I eat the exact same thing every day. A few days I have been waiting impatiently for breakfast, but its not been bad at all.

Before. Some of the food in the database do have after cooked weights, and are labeled as such but if you are reading the label on the package of food, it is before cooked weight. The foods you cook lose a bunch of water weight while cooking but none of the calories. Some foods are easy to calculate, like grilled…

Get a bike. I've been finding it enjoyable to work up to an 8 mile ride daily. Good burn double the burn or more of walking the same time period. And now that it is hot even 110 at 9pm here, I still get the wind in my face to help keep it cooler than walking.

Skinned red potatoes. Skin, cut into chunks, boil for 16 mins, drain off the water, quick mash. When I say quick mash, I go around the bowl 4 times with my masher just to get the boiled chunks together, not looking for "mashed potatoes" constancy. Then I squish it down into a tupperwear container. I put mine into the…

Agree, its helped change my mindset as well. Knowing exactly what I am going to eat doesn't lead to the trap of "oh guess Ill get a pizza" My doctor gave me a few weird looks and sent me to a nutritionist. Hard to argue with results and my blood work is fine 6 months in (massive drop in blood pressure and cholesterol) .…

Essentially yes. I also have some bran flakes, dry, as a daily snack. Once in a while I will have salsa instead of ketchup. Rarely Ill toss some minced garlic into the potatoes. Once a month I allow a "cheat meal" of a chick fil a sandwich but only adds in 100 calories above my 1400 daily goal. One day this year I had 2…

Ive had the exact same meal since January. At night I add chicken. In the morning I add some cheese. But its 14 oz of boiled potatoes (nothing added) every single meal. Done in the waffle iron, they taste better than french frys. Some ketchup and hot sauce Im good to go. 120 pounds lost since January.

IF is no magical cure, there is some evidence that it does help burn fat, but that is not my primary goal in using it. It all about meal timing for me. 16:8 knowing its only X number of hours till the next meal has really helped me stay away from snacks or the fast food trap. 11am breakfast, 2pm lunch, 6:30pm dinner. Small…

If it is not your first month you can do your own math if you track your weight regularly. First month is too much water weight and adjusting to give a good figure. Input your own numbers, and you can do shorter time periods, but 10-15 days is as short as I tend to checkup. Month will give you a better figure. Lets say you…

People are experts at everything, just ask them, they will tell you. We rely on advice from well meaning yet misinformed friends and acquaintances, without going and asking experts. That friend read an article in Cosmo 15 years ago, and got the story wrong in their head and keeps repeating the same wrong information…

I don't because it would lead me down a bad road. Its much simpler to not eat the 2000 calories, than it is to try and burn 2000 calories. I will have a special treat meal once a month, normally a chic fil a sandwich, but I fit the 440 calories into my day. Exceeding my calorie limit by just a little bit 100 or so. Don't…

Man I am right there with you. It just kills motivation to not see that number change!!! I'm 289. Burning 3600-3900 calories per day. Last 4 days in a row I've not seen the scale move. Just kills me man, normally I can shrug it off and keep on with it. But yesterday was the day I should have hit my 288 mini goal. On the…

I use IF for meal timing. It sure does help me knowing I have set meal times, and its only X number of hours till the next meal. Has completely eliminated my snacking and solved most of my hunger problems. Once in a while its a pain to have to wait 6 hours after I wake up to eat, but been doing it since January and its…

Yes slight exaggeration. I should say very little fat. It was my birthday, went crazy and had chick fil a for lunch and dinner. Instead of just one a month as my "cheat meal". You know what they say, If it works, it aint crazy. I'm full every day, and do't fall into my old trap of no plan for a meal so I get fast food or…

Ive lost 106 pounds since January. I eat the same thing every day, 1400 calories. I care nothing about macros, I eat mostly carbs, no fat and some protein. Literally chicken and potatoes. Simply put there is no miracle eat this don't eat that diet. Its all math. If we are talking strictly about loosing weight. Not general…

Do the math yourself. Then set a calorie limit to achieve what you want. Since you have lost a bunch of weight already (WAY TO GO!!) you can just simplify everything and do your math. Keep in mind it changes as you loose weight or gain muscle. So you have to keep track of it, and update it as you go. For example lets say…

I'm essentially Matt Damon in The Martian.

Weigh, measure, everything. Estimating is the enemy of weight loss. Example. I eat the same thing everyday. I had been guessing at the amount of ketchup I had been using just logging it at 3.5 tablespoons per day. Well I ran a test last week seeing how long it took for me to use the bottle up.... ummm closer to 8.5 per…

The first month or so of weight loss is more rapid. So numbers based on that wont be accurate. Depending on the amount of weight you want to lose a month is a good measure taking out a lot of variables in hydration levels/general body processes. I use the math to spot check my activity level. I'm constantly changing my…

As stated calculators here or any other are just general guidelines. Some use different formulas to come up with an answer. Use whatever guideline you desire for a month (seriously logging calories everyday) then do the math yourself to see where you work out to. Calculators tell me I should be burning 3117-3456 per day.…

16:8 faster here. I eat breakfast at 11am, lunch around 2pm then have dinner around 6:30pm. Been going since January, once in a while its a challenge to make it to breakfast. Recommendation, keep busy, don't complain to friends/coworkers about how hungry you are, it will only make it worse. If you have free time in the…

For my 100 pounds lost this year and my weight starting with a 2 for the first time since high school... I bought new clothes because the old ones don't fit! That is a pretty awesome reward in itself. Not having to pay DXL $40 for a tee shirt and being able to buy a $5 one at walmart was a life changing experience. In fact…

You can't outrun your mouth. Exercising and burning a few hundred calories per day is GREAT!! for your health in general. But not eating the "700" extra calories a day is better. Weigh everything that enters your mouth, log it accurately. Ignore 99% of the database because you will find it is wrong. Verify everything from…

Don't consider it cheating works for me, I just consider it a different food than I normally eat. I eat the exact same thing every single day. So once a month I have a chicken sandwich from Chick Fil. My everyday lunch is 320 calories, the chicken sandwich is 440. I could skip my snack that day and come out still under my…

Thanks for the input everyone! Essentially yes. I have to skip a few things due to a knee injury (no squats/lunges) but I try and make up for it by doing something I can that works the same main mussel.

Thanks, Not my first month, I've lost 80 pounds so far this year (146 since 2014). Not at my half way point yet. I understand the reasoning behind 2 pounds a week, and making it a lifestyle change etc. That makes sense when you have 30 pounds to loose, not 200+. As I approach a reasonable wight, Ill make additional changes…

I step on my cheap scale once before I make breakfast to "wake it up". Then after I have everything prepped and it cooking I weigh 3 times. If I don't get wildly different numbers I take the 2 that match. If I get inconstant numbers, or too high/too low from where it should be, I wait till tomorrow. I got tired of having…

You have to be very careful of the advice you listen to and follow. As far as the statistics, yes it is a very low number that keep the weight off. BUT ONLY OF PEOPLE WHO CRASH DIET. Make your new diet a lifestyle change, not a short term "OMG I HAVE TO LOOSE 40 POUNDS NEXT WEEK". Start eating right, within a calorie loss…
