I don't know anything about the science or physical benefits, but I like the mental benefits of it. I didn't incorporate higher calorie days until after the first month, and it has been a huge game changer for me. And I haven't personally seen any negative effects from it (like plateaus or whatever), so I am all for it.…

This is what I was thinking too. I have really only heard of Keto/super low carb people counting net carbs.

Thanks everyone! I may keep trying new stuff. Just trying to find what appeals to me, but I also don’t want to fall behind in my progress because I’m stubborn.

I have a treadmill at home for cardio. For weights, I prefer BodyFitByAmy on YouTube. I occasionally do Yoga With Adrienne as well.

Yes this! I do like 2-3 lower calorie days a week to save up for weekend nights out, but I can't imagine doing that every day, every week, every month. It makes me hungry just thinking about it.

I like it. I use the Evolve shakes because they taste just like Premier Protein. Some of the powders do have a weird taste so it might depend what you mix it with.

Same as everyone else. I always plan, but rarely actually prep. But I log my meals and snacks ahead of time (I change them on the day if something else sounds good). For the most part, I stick with what I planned, and it does make it a lot easier to avoid last minute snacking.

I think anything consumed in excess could lead to negative health consequences, but I'm not a doctor or a scientist. I'm still going to drink Diet Soda because it keeps me from eating my weight in donuts and fries.

I am guilty of trying a few of the restrictive/fad/trendy diets, and it's so hard to pinpoint WHY I wanted to do them and what convinced me. I don't know if it's the novelty of doing what other people are doing, being in denial about how simplistic CICO actually is, or just wanting to be part of a diet community. But I CAN…

This so, so much. I have found that I am able to be more consistent by fitting in things I love into my daily calories (I also eat 1/2 my exercise calories) and also working off a weekly deficit. So some days, my calories are slightly lower because I know on the weekend I will have what someone would consider a cheat meal…

I have the occasional protein bar, but usually more of an after workout protein kick (which is my afternoon snack) or sometimes as dessert if I'm still hungry and have the calories. I just hate the ingredients of most of them. I don't "Eat clean" ( hate that phrase) but maltitol and sorbitol bother my stomach, and it's in…

My personal opinion is that it is okay if it's not every day, you aren't purposely trying to cut your calories/over-restrict, and you feel okay physically and mentally. But if you get to a point where after a few 1,000 calorie days suddenly you have crazy cravings or feel bingey, it might be the result of not eating…

I don't think you look like a scumbag if you keep it platonic. More than likely she just wants a gym buddy. I have many platonic male friends, both now and when I was married, and it was never a problem.

Eating too much, not being active at all. What led me to eat so much is a combination of compulsive overeating, always going for fast food instead of cooking, stress eating, a bunch of other factors. I started gaining almost immediately after high school, which is when my habits changed.

As far as weight loss goes, I think higher protein is just to keep you satiated. I aim for 80-100 grams a day, and that works perfectly for me to keep me full and give me enough energy. I can't imagine eating much more than that.

How far are you from your goal weight? If you're eating less than 50 carbs a day, you might be doing keto without realizing it. Have you talked to your doctor or a registered dietician not affiliated with your surgeon's office? They might have some more guidance beyond what the surgeon is able to help you with. That low…

I do both and think both are important. But I only did cardio for the first month or so.. I still prefer it and like the calorie burn.

Taking my dogs for longer walks instead of just letting them out. I started using a smaller cup for water so I have to fill it up more often. Instead of just cleaning like one day a week, I split it up so I do something every day - that keeps me a little more active on a daily basis. This condo is 2 stories, but the living…

Way to go! You look great!

Protein shake w/banana or peanut butter Banana w/peanut butter or almond butter Eggs and ham or eggs and fruit It just depends how I feel, But I always need some protein in the morning or I get cravey around lunchtime. If you can have gluten, the Thomas light english muffins are only 100 calories, so you could do that with…

Never. The only person who knows is my sister because I live with her. When I am in a situation like that, I just pick the healthiest of what is available. I never tell people I am dieting or explain my food choices. It hasn't really been an issue anyway. Nobody has been like "But why aren't you eating that?".
-
That's kind of what I'm personally afraid of, and why I refuse to tell anyone on social media that I am losing weight. I will also never post a progress picture (on social media). I will post selfies and if people notice, ok cool, but not making it a thing. I don't need people's constant comments and suggestions. But to…

Ditto. I have been working more with a weekly deficit since every day is different.

Follow SciBabe on Facebook. She is a scientist who has debunked this many, many times.

I sleep with 2 cuddly dogs, so definitely clothes.

It is so hard to compare sizes because of different shapes and builds. I am 5'6 and 235, and I fit in a size 18 jeans and pants.. but just barely. When I started, I was 253 and in a size 20. I have a medium frame and hourglass shape. My sister weighs exactly the same as me, but because her body is shaped different, her…

I have known 3 people personally who got the surgery. 2 of them have kept the weight off past a few years, 1 put it back on pretty quickly after the first year. But I have no problems with people who do or don't want to do it. It is a very personal decision, and you're right that they go through a lot before even being…

This depends entirely on what your definition of healthy is. I'm in the obese category and have been for about 15 years. No diabetes, no high blood pressure, no high cholesterol, have never had any issues being physically active, no knee or hip pain, literally nothing that would suggest I'm "unhealthy" aside from my…

I was just looking at this one! I think I might start with 21 Day Fix (not the food, just the workouts) since I'm between beginner and intermediate level. 80DO might be a bit much for me to get through. But I want to follow this thread to see how everyone likes it.
