Interesting story, thanks for sharing. I'm not sure how you can get by on even 1500 though. I'm 55 and weight 163 and get to the gym 3-4 times a week lifting weights and my maintenance level is 2400/2800 calories. I'd think you should be closer to 1800-2000 to lose 1 lb/week.

I had a bread problem as well and I solved it by counting calories. During my weightloss phase I was at 1700 calories/day and I stuck to it religiously. I only eat Dempster's Wholegrain breads or home made and at 110-130 calories slice it wasn't worth the calories to me as it replaced too many bulky foods that kept me…

My advice would be to scrap the keto, go back to eating normal foods, set up a 500 calorie/day deficit and watch the pounds melt away. Keto holds no special magic for weight loss beyond the calorie deficit it creates but you can create the same calorie deficit just by eating regular food. The weight you lost in the…

If supplements and pills worked we'd all have great abs B) You generally won't see much of your abs until your bodyfat gets below a certain percentage and you've worked out pretty intensely for a period of months. Maybe a chat with a local personal trainer would be in order.

I wanted to start the Stronglifts again but I figured the every other day squats might be too much for me so I came up with my own semi-Stronglifts that goes something like this. I try to get into the gym on Mon/Tues and Thu/Fri. This gives me an extra days rest for the legs. Monday/Thursday Squats Overhead Press Deadlifts…

The only two foods I've ever tried that I didn't really enjoy are creamed corn and beets although I'll still eat them if someone serves them at a dinner. Other than that I've never found a food I didn't like.

Yet another member genuinely asking for some help, who didn't word her OP perfectly and is now subject to the usual MFP style of bullying behaviour that 99% of us would vehemently object to if it happened to us in our real lives. "Let's all climb aboard the pedantic express and ride this noob till she crashes!". Sometimes…

My guess would be that some people don't want their federal government coming in and enforcing food guidelines in their local school district. Kids are going to eat what they learn to eat at home, they bring their eating habits taught by us parents, to school. Throwing an apple and some oatmeal on a plate of someone that's…

Limit the HIIT, hit the weights, focus on a progam like Starting Strength or Stronglifts 5x5 that concentrates on the basic compound lifts of squat, deadlift, bench press etc. IMO I wouldn't be dieting if I was you, I'd be on maintenance or a slight surplus and really go at the weights for a few months and see what…

Getting a discount for not smoking means smokers pay more money which is exactly the same in the end as charging them more to begin with. I don't think many people would argue that people with diseases should pay more because that's mostly out of you control.

The risks of obesity go far beyond fitness. You can run and jump and ride if you're fit and overweight so long as your heart is healthy and your muscles are strong, but, if one is prone to carrying excess belly fat, there's a good chance it's visceral fat surrounding your internal organs raising your risk of diabetes, high…

A typical day might include berries on my breakfast cereal, a piece of fruit with lunch that also includes a soup or stew that is loaded with a wide variety of vegetables. A green salad before dinner with a base of either mixed greens or spinach along with a mix of spanish onions, mushrooms, red peppers, shredded…

A program like Stronglifts 5x5 might take you 30-45 minutes per session plus some warmup and cool down. It's every other day so 2-3 hours per weeks. It's a barbell based program so no really practical at home unless you have tons of room. You start light and work your way up fairly quickly. It's a great program, it was my…

If you goal is strength building you'll get very little muscle building benefit, if any, if long term you are doing 30 reps of the same exercise over and over. You need more weight and less reps and perhaps another set or two. I would start increasing the weights every workout by the minimum possible until you reach a…

At 97 lbs, even at 5'0", I don't think belly fat is really a concern for you. Use the tools that MFP provides to figure out your daily calorie requirements for maintenance and start there. You'll have to start entering your numbers religiously and purchase a food scale so you can be accurate measuring your food at home. If…

My route of choice to counter this my over indulgence tendencies wasn't abstinence or self control but rather pouring energy into creating alternatives that I thought were healthier and lower in calorie at the same time. Like eating a black bean brownie instead of one made with while flour and sugar. Is it as good? No. But…

I admire that you are taking the feedback provided in a positive light. A positive attitude goes a long way. I would advise you talking to a health professional about setting up some healthy macros and a healthy diet for you. I peeked at your diary and noticed that you only consumed 10 grams of fat - in the last 3 days…

Your cheapest vegan options are going to be combinations of various dried legumes, pulses, grains and seeds, many of which are super cheap to buy in bulk or in bags, combined with the less expensive vegetables like potatoes, rutabaga, carrots, onions etc. These vegetables also have long shelf lives, weeks or months…

I am sort of in the same boat. I am used to eating high volume, lower calorie foods now and it is a struggle to eat all my calories that way. I feel like I'm eating all the time!! Nuts and fats are the easiest boost for me. A tbsp or two of olive oil or flaxseed oil here and there, fry my eggs in butter, fatty salmon…

A 99mg supplement is microscopic. My RDI is 3500mg and 99 wouldn't even put a dent in that.

Not judging, but I always find it amusing to see guys in the gym with good upper body musculature and chicken legs B) To the OP, Stronglifts is a good starting program, easy to follow and easy to make good gains with it. Don't ignore the lower body though. Strong legs, buttocks, abs, hips etc. are the foundation everything…

You are free to do whatever you like and, going against the grain here, boredom is one of the greatest enemies of gym attendance. Some guys can just go and go and go, doing the same things over and over and they are happy. But if you're bored you're going to skip workouts and not put maximum effort into them when you do…

Insurance is separated into pools all the time. Try going to get an individual disability insurance plan if you have diabetes or high blood pressure. Try getting life insurance under the same conditions. Try getting car insurance if you've had two at faults in the last year. Identifiably higher risks pay higher premiums…

I actually eat less carbs now than when I was losing weight. I like to eat in volume and for me the easiest way to do that was eating lots of fruits and vegetables to give me that full tummy feeling but still keep a low calorie count. In losing my last 20 pounds I averaged around 60% carbohydrates. Now that I am on…

You could try making a cake with the recipes above. I made the chocolate peanut butter version and it's very soft and moist. Two layers of that, separated by some chocolate frosting and topped with chocolate frosting, would make a nice chocolate cake IMO, very high in protein as well.

Right. Carry on...lol.

I said it's sarcasm because it is. If you want to ask a direct question of the OP, you ask a direct question. Asking an indirect question where the answer is already known is mocking sarcasm.

Simple french omelette with an ounce of Kerrygold Blarney Castle Creamy Gouda and some pork bellies. Absolutely delicious. My second go at a french omellette. All my frying pans were cast iron up until now so I went and bought a new ceramic non-stick pan just for this. First time I made it I had the heat too high and it…
