I just posted this in another thread but it seems appropriate here. I'd advise anyone getting involved in Keto to do your research. Dr. Boz has plenty of shorter YT videos on Keto and she runs her clinic based on keto as a go to therapy for many of her patients. The YT channel Low Carb Down Under has a series of lectures…

I turned to Keto not to lose weight but as a way of eliminating a lot of different foods from my diet to find a way to control my growing arthritic inflammation. I quit dairy at the same time. It worked so well I almost can't believe it. I was at the point last fall where I thought I'd have to retire early. My hip hurt, my…

I did CICO a few years ago to lose 20 lbs but it wasn't easy. Hunger here and there and rarely satisfied with the food intake etc. I've been a lifelong volume eater so I ate a lot of high volume/low cal vegetables and fruits to get me through. Of course, I gained back about 10-15 lbs in the next couple of years but my…

I put it in my workout shake 3 times a day since going keto. It's all protein so it substitutes for some protein powder. I've made so many dietary changes since going keto and had phenomenal results but there's no way I could isolate the effect of collagen among the rest of the changes.

There are tons of recipe sites for keto, I'd suggest using google. There are many egg recipes of course, bacon, sausages etc but I skip breakfast most days and go straight to lunch, something that's incredibly easy to do with a high fat diet. I also will eat anything for breakfast, not just "breakfast" food. Last night's…

MFP doesn't allow you to do that which is unfortunate but it's literally just subtracting one number from the other. I eat a lot of leafy greens and other high fibre foods some days so using the net value allows me to eat more vegetables compared to just using the gross amount of fibre.

Since I went Keto I rarely eat breakfast. My last meal is usually between 6-9pm and the next time I eat can be anywhere from noon to 4pm, once in a while going 24 hours. The appetite control and energy modulation is phenomenal.

I bought a Starfrit Balance scale at Walmart for < $30 and I can't imagine anything more consistent. Day to day it's very consistent and I can step on it several times and always get the same weight.

Low carb high fat keto gives you tremendous appetite control.

I went keto for inflammation and as an easy way to limit my foods to identify which foods were triggering my arthritis pain. It worked and my pain is 75-80% reduced but along the way I lost 15 lbs I could afford to lose. My blood markers are all normal to ideal. I can only speak for myself but I've talked with many other…

For me, Keto produces such easy appetite control I rarely snack anymore. I usually take a handful of nuts with me when I head to work because I have I'm self-employed with a varied schedule and never know when I'm going to get home to eat but most days I end up bringing it home. Nuts and seeds work well for me when I need…

Were you intaking extra salt (electrolytes)? I followed that advice and avoided the keto flu altogether if this is what this was. I also eased into keto. I spent a week eating keto meals for breakfast, then I added lunch the next week, then in the third week all three meals. No flu, no negative transition symptoms other…

Fat is linked to satiety. It's no surprise that by eating some fat it might help with your hunger pangs. If you want to test your satiety from fat, eat a very high fat breakfast a couple of days in a row. Some bacon, eggs, butter, avocado, coconut etc. whatever you prefer. Count the calories, don't eat any more calories…

@AngiesCookie I would also appreciate the link if you still have it. Thanks in advance.

What a bizarre question...and yes I do!!. I love pizza and while I was losing weight I used to buy a Blue Menu pizza every week and eat it as dinner. Only 640-680 calories with a super thin crust. When I finished losing weight I decided to try and make my own pizza for the first time in my life. I found Jenny Jones had…

Obviously not the heaviest thing I've ever lifted but I have a landscape trailer I don't use much anymore. It's about a foot high inside and there was a 30 kg/66lb bag of dry cement on the garage floor that I wanted to put into the trailer. Instead of getting out and scooping it up with two hands like I normally would,…

I enjoy eating now more than ever. I create things in the kitchen that I find so flavourful and tasty and can't believe how much I am allowing myself to eat while still meeting my goals. I never realized until recently just how much guilt I must have been carrying while eating. I feel free now, like I've been unchained and…

I didn't know what pcos was so I looked it up. A brief search tells me that it isn't low carb that's recommended but avoiding carbs that are highly processed resulting in lower fibre content like white rice, white flour etc. An all around healthy diet rich in whole foods and a variety of protein sources is recommended.

Eating better, being more active, counting calories.

The best way to kick start a diet is to kick it to the curb. Personally I don't believe in diets, I believe in developing good eating habits for life. Why would I want to temporarily eat foods I wouldn't normally eat just to lose weight? Once you have good eating habits with a good balance of fat/protein/carbs and are…

Did that a few times myself on the way down. I just logged it and moved on. Didn't seem to make much difference.

Carbs are just another energy source, same as protein and fat. I lost my last 20lbs by eating 60-70% carbs because it was the best way for me to eat a large volume of fruits and vegetables which helped me feel fuller. Now that I'm on maintenance I'm at 45% and that's still a considerable 280g/day and on workout days…

I'm surprised anyone does keto. I would never sign up for a diet with so many restrictions. I love my fruits and veggies too much! Add to that, it's completely unnecessary for weight loss and I just don't see the appeal.

Learned to love the goat meat when my Trini-ex made it once in a while. It's meat you have to work at a little bit but I really enjoyed it.

You're massively out of shape and now your body is telling you to recover, slow down and start again. You simply started too fast. Wait until the pain is completely gone then limit yourself to a mile or less, and do half walk, half slow jog. See how you feel and adjust accordingly. Overdoing it is a surefire way to…

Really depends on how lean the sausage is. A half pound of lean venison can be as high as 70g of protein but sausage meat is likely more fatty and less protein. Perhaps you input lean venison instead of sausage meat?

I love roasted vegetables. Most vegetables can be roasted simply by sprinkling a some olive or other oil on them and putting them in a 350-375F oven and turning them every 10-15 minutes. Favourites include oven potato and sweet potato fries, cauliflower, sweet onions, rutabaga, carrots, peppers, parsnips and more. Using…

It should also be noted that your country is not one that allows forced labour, indentured servitude or slavery. If you don't like working for tips, learn a trade, try another career, get another job.

I haven't had that extreme of an experience but I can tell you that, in spite of the miraculous (to me) results I've achieved and my overwhelmingly positive experience with counting calories, I've only been able to convince one friend to join MFP and her daily log is mostly empty. :'( She actually texted me the other day…

During my weightloss phase I actually upped my carb percentage so I could eat more volume, focusing on low calorie but high volumes vegetables. Worked like a charm. Hovering around 60-65% carbs most days for 4 months and I lost 20 lbs in a very steady fashion. Now that I'm trying to clean bulk, and struggling a bit to find…
