I need to cut my 3x-a-week breakfast with 2 eggs (no yolk) and bacon. I blame this for my high 174 total cholesterol.
-
It is a lot related to time. IMO, drinking alcohol is a problem when it becomes an *activity by itself*. Occasional "high-functional heavy drinker" here, but admittedly I have some nasty physical symptoms such as liver pain, so count me in for April.

I wonder how they can separate the mushrooms variable from the rest of the good habits in those people who eats them.

A&W offers a Beyond Meat burger and I tried it. For sure it wasn't as tasty as a Teenburger or Mozzaburger, and it looked like they want to gouge the customers with it, so no thanks, I passed the next time. Admittedly the BK one might be a better value and more tasty. But about all Burger King restaurants vanished around…

https://www.verywellhealth.com/can-coffee-lower-your-cholesterol-697708 Of the word 'may'. But many studies support this. Using paper filter avoid this. I drink my coffees with paper filters. 'a lot of them.

It may sound like semantics, but I don't like 'weight' and avoid gym like the plague. Resistance training looks more important to me, although I do cardio often (country skiing this PM :) ). Intense but brief, through simple exercises. No 'weight' is needed. The extreme way to do it.…

A&W has one now. I tried it today and was disappointed (especially at $7 a piece). Not much different from a typical veggie burger. First and last.
-
Most of my weight loss, I had a cheat day every two weeks (and now too). Very convenient for social happenings.
-
It is not a new argument. You missed it twice; the 'exactly' was explicitly written in the article, I copied their extract in this thread yesterday 6hPM.

Sigh. 97% means obviously that there ARE exceptions and those can't justify throwing a baby out with bathwater. In this case, close enough and no risk. I'll take my chances, thank you. There is no equivalent scientific study of this magnitude which supports the low-carb phobia.
-
Demagogy. 97% is close to 100%, 60% is not. And scientists around the world invest billions on this assumption. Of course, this kind of research needs to be replicated/validated. But this is a large one, with some credentials and a study as meticulous as this one is rare. In short, their conclusion is that an excess of fat…

So do we. We are omnivorous, share 97%+ of DNA with mice. https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn2352-just-2-5-of-dna-turns-mice-into-men/ You'd think that those searchers would waste money if the dynamics weren't exactly the same? It doesn't pay to be in such denial. lol...

It is all relevant and they don't prove anything against CICO, as I understand;

I use my Wahoo Tickr X almost daily. It works great.

Everything is on the table. * Caloric restriction for life - I do it, consequence is being very thin...if you want to entertain breast cancer, be overweight. * Minimum intake red meat - I eat 4oz twice a week * Crazy amount of antioxydants - I did a 180deg in nutrition 3 years ago. Beets and broccoli - a lot, I mean a LOT.…

Proteins intake is overrated. I stick to RDA requirements meaning for me generally 55-65g of proteins for a 160lbs frame, or about 0.4g/lbs. I am not vegan but eat only 1-2 small portions of meat per week.
-
I tried a few varieties including the Kirkland; the winner in my book is 'Smartforlife', also available at Costco, regularly discounted. You can get them on their own site but they are expensive
-
keto = a real case of carbophobia. Irrational but trendy phobia of carbs.
-
Well that's what I said. "Not saying at all that CICO "doesn't work""
-
I wished. Aren't we on the St.Patrick's day, or something? >:)
-
Not saying at all that CICO "doesn't work", but there are some variations in food absorption. For example, nuts ingestion in the following case proved to be 128 calories, although 170 was on the label. https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/guest-blog/the-hidden-truths-about-calories/
-
Easy to fix; just take the whole damn bottle. lol. >:)
-
I agree. Whatever the diet, calories restriction and being lean/active will do wonder to your body.
-
Ok with this kind of approach, we are done.

I am not specifically referring to any particular study - you did. So assume what you want. And you present it wrong anyway, as the results were there and you just chose to ignore them. Bill Clinton is a good ambassador. After massive two coronary events, 2004 and 2010, he went mostly whole food plant-diet and he claims…
-
OP asked for "Opinions on the keto diet?" I think it is very overrated. Another fad trend. I favor 70% of unprocessed carbs and a combination of 30% of proteins/fat. Whole food plant-based diet is the only one proven to reverse coronary conditions. With keto, you are doing the opposite.…

When I cheat, I CHEAT. I allow myself one cheating day every 2 weeks. And I still lose weight. It is highly convenient for social happenings, and whenever it happens I don't weigh for 3 days. I typically feel like cr*p for those days anyway. I also cheat almost the whole time in vacations like 3-4 weeks a year (like next…
-
Guidelines for total cholesterol in blood was max 200 mg/dl (not to be confused with daily cholesterol intake). A third of people with coronary events have theirs between 150-200, while people with less 150 have almost never such conditions, a rarity. So it is not correct to report at large that cholesterol needs no longer…

The overweight kids should definitely adjust down their food intake. It is dieting, then yes be it.

I use a wahoo chest strap monitor every day, associated to my smartphone. The app posts the results on MFP automatically. Beau-ti-ful.
