  • Well I think that outlining the argument is very stupid. Yet you can't overcome my arguments, Enjoy your clogged arteries!
  • For the record, it was 14% down, not 0.14% and also not an extrapolation; although it is self-declaratory, "People who scored highest on the PDS had a 14 percent lower risk of developing heart disease and stroke."
  • Why do you accuse them of wrongdoing?... because it doesn't match your little agenda? lol This is NOT just another one's opinion. It is from acknowledged professionals at Harvard and it has been published in American Heart Association’s journal. Great credentials to me. This was not a scientific experience, and no, a…
  • Interesting... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-12680645/Move-Mediterranean-diet-New-portfolio-diet-silver-bullet-health-Americas-cardiologists-say-foods-invest-in.html
  • Good catch... I meant omega 3.. lol. sorry for the confusion.
  • What I mostly see in the literature is the ratio total cholesterol/HDL.... Mine is 3.06, can't complain, according to this. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321484#ideal-ranges As for triglycerides, I am at 1.22 mmol/LL or 110mg/dL...all fine.
  • How about BOTH. Reducing food that are detrimental and adding the ones that contribute positively. For the record, I was going to replace 1-2 of my weekly bacon/eggs/butter breakfast with oatmeal (which I already eat and like, especially with blueberries & a bit of brown sugar). I also eat a large can of kidney beans…
  • It is not eating out 4-5x a week, I meant a total of 4-5x meals with meat as the main course. We typically land at steakhouses or chicken places... my options are limited, but I can also improve this. For the others, I warned you; *not interested*. :) I want to get under 150, a zone that there is really near 0 cardiac…
  • It mind-boggles me that something as light as 18g should have 280cal. Does cooked bacon have 16cal per g? At the same time, see the hits I found on MP.
  • This week I tried a cheeseburger at Five Guys. Expensive a for a burger but I didn't regret... excellent.
  • I would enjoy/love a "little scare" to make me drink less. Not something general, but down-to-earth evidences that it affects the human tissues. At the same time, I know that it can't be good. At least, it didn't affect my weight.
  • I did one every two weeks and succeeded to lose a lot of weight. I think one a week is too much, considering that you need a few days to recover each time.
  • Goal for August; no more alcohol at home (my liver talked to me). I don't mind occasional social drinking.
  • I wouldn't stay on a Keto with cholesterol issues. I'd switch to a mostly plant-based or flexitarian in an heartbeat.
  • I did a dry January... now I need a dry July lol... June was a bit excessive.
  • I suggest that you lower your meat intake, eat more veggies and add curcuma.
  • I agree with OP and now I need one, after so many years... all the 900 cal. of it! Burger King is almost dead here. Another chain I regret is Quiznos (similar to Subway but better, IMO)
  • I was big most of my life, was 176lbs at 16, got near 240lbs and I always considered that I had a large frame. Until the useless fat came off to realize that I have only a medium frame, not large (or small). A good clue is the size of the hands. I never had large hands even at my max. weight.
  • No it is not. :) All those offiicial sources says 18.5 (not 21 like a vague article) https://www.cdc.gov/healthyweight/assessing/bmi/adult_bmi/index.html…
  • The real lower BMI figure is 18.5 (not 19 likely just rounded) and this matches129lbs for 5'10". Millions of adult men in the world prove that it is nowhere underweight. Again BMI is an empiric shortcut to discuss % bodyfat. The endgame is to conform to wcrf/aicr #1 recommendation for cancer prevention (and other…
  • The best way to win the argument is not to announce the goal, but achieve it like you did. Now I try (with mitigated success) to keep them for myself. >90% would judge my body goal "unrealistic". Male 54yo 5'10", has been near 240lbs, now low-150 and I want 130 or less. IDK the BF%, probably around 10%. I think…
  • I lost a lot of weight 10 years ago, having a day off every 14 days. It makes life MUCH easier for social happenings. It had a cost though. Every time it was 3-4 days to return to the best scale figure of before. It probably reduced the weight loss by 25%. Which is nothing if the goal is long term. Tomorrow I will complete…
  • Tubes are usually repaired with rubber patches and you don't need to scrap them on the first leak. Often it is because they were improperly mounted if you see nothing on the tire. I would trust them more than spray (but I have no actual experience with spray).
  • I didn't stop junk food. I still eat them but only 2-3 times a month as I try to cap my meat intake. My limitation is to not have side dishes as French fries. I was in vacation away last week, I ate junk food at every lunch. Because I knew the calories involved and a 565cal Big Mac is so easy to register on MFP. :) At…
  • Rotation & T-Factor diets by Dr Katahn. That was so 30 years ago! https://www.amazon.com/Rotation-Diet-Revised-Updated/dp/0393341313 (a #1 Ney York Times bestseller) https://www.amazon.com/T-Factor-Diet-Martin-Katahn/dp/0553285084/ I am convinced that the guy was sincere and it worked for him but in retrospect, his…
  • Same level is debatable, but apparently, the short answer is yes. Caloric restriction is a common trait. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/blue-zones#TOC_TITLE_HDR_4
  • This doesn't make sense at all. Caloric restriction for life is a clear differentiator. https://health.clevelandclinic.org/dont-eat-until-youre-full-instead-mind-your-hara-hachi-bu-point/#:~:text=Hara%20hachi%20bu%20is%20a,a%20fairly%20long%20life%20expectancy.
  • I am surprised that the key factor was not mentioned; caloric restriction for life. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17986602/
  • Did you change the battery? Polar are good products, I use wahoo them and would recommend as well.
  • From what I gathered, about everything non-genetic about cancer is related to time & exposure, a very gradual thing. With +150lbs, I would be more concerned about my heart, blood pressure and glycaemia. Any weight loss with the right food will improve thiem probably much quicker than the cancer risk.
