How do you get your potassium?
I relatively eat a lot of potatoes, bananas and beans, but according to MyFitnessPal, this accounts to less than 1500mg of the daily 3500. I wonder if some people here take potassium supplements? It is hard to get 2000mpg K supplements by caplets. Going in powder might be a better option; 10g of potassium bicarbonate…

Not pleased by my total cholesterol
If your position is that total cholesterol doesn't matter or is fine under 200, don't bother reading any further! In my previous blood test, my total cholesterol was around 160mg/dl. Two years later, I expected 140 by eating less and weight less, but I am at 180. Three times a week, I have breakfast with 2 eggs and bacon…

The Bacon Case
Guilty as charged; I like by bacon 3x a week. Ideally I should replace it by something like oatmeal or beans, I know. The bacon I used to buy was reported to have 210cal per 2 slices. However I bought some from Costco (Kirkland), the slices are bigger (67g raw). I weighted them this morning and it was 64g. Cooked in paper…

MFP calories expenditure figures can be so off.
Since the beginning of this year, I added cross-country skiing to my daily routine. For a moderate effort (in sweat) and my weight, MFP estimates 705 kcal per hour. I noticed that my weight loss pattern has changed in the last 2 weeks. Looking at other calculators, MFP is the highest of all by almost 200 kcal. Moral of the…

If a calorie is a calorie, why do we see this?
https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1002/oby.20460 So 1400cal in both groups, first BF ate 700 / 500 /200 for breakfast / lunch / dinner and the D group ate the opposite. And the kicker: That's massive. "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper."

Ketogenic diets and the $33-billion diet gimmick
This is the actual title of the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oePve0-8W0I Interesting how the initial weight loss is more associated with muscle loss. This video ultimately demonstrates that going low-carb makes you lose weight slower than low-fat.

Eggs substitutes in pancakes
This is not about "eggs are fine". I found plenty of websites with suggestions. This morning I tried to use 1/4 cup applesauce instead of an egg and I was already putting flax seeds before. Two practical problems. I use a blender because usually it chops the banana better. The blender didn't process the mixture easily and…

Why is there something as minimal blood pressure by age?
At 50 I should have a minimum of 116/81, normal is 129/85. I find this insane. I have 114/72 and expect to return to 110/70 after losing the 15 pounds I gained in the last 3 years. Africans and Asians in good health and small frames/weight stays with the same blood pressure all this adulthood.

The low salt idea is wrong?
This guy thinks so: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-4546722/Salt-won-t-heart-attack-says-scientist.html Also in evidence the video in which a cardiologist from Halifax reviewed a few studies and concluded that our salt intake was too low. I'll have to dig for it.
