Good for you!
-
Did I say any of that? Nope. You said their opinion doesn't matter. I said it clearly does.
-
But the fact that there are so many non-users is why the newsfeed is going away, so I would argue their opinion does matter. At least to MFP.
-
Girl. Seriously. That's amazing. Keep it up!
-
Agreed. The newsfeed to me was entirely useless. Just a bunch of Neverending robotic entries of "so and so logged in for x days in a row." "So and so completed their diary" "so and so logged 20 minutes of yoga".
-
No, you don't need to. I don't track anything that doesn't have calories. Waste of time to me.
-
Hey Hey all.... look what got posted in the health section this morning 🤣 We can all lose 60-70 pounds in 2 months if we just sign up with this health coach on whatsapp!

That's more dependant on how much fat you have to lose. The closer you are to "lean", the more you have to worry about muscle loss. Despite public opinion, as long as you have plenty of fat to lose, it's true that your body will preferentially use stored fat and spare muscle.
-
Nobody can tell you that, as it will be different for everybody. Body fat percentage isn't so much about scale weight. You'd have to know how many pounds of fat you're carrying. The reality is you would just have to keep looking in the mirror and keep losing until you reach the point where your legs start losing fat. But I…
-
Women can tend to hold fat in their legs. TBH, it's the beauty standard right now.... so I don't know how hard I'd try to lose it. That being said, you might have to get to quite a low weight before the fat on your lower body goes away.

Alan Roberts did a whole series on this on his YouTube channel. Fair warning to anyone who checks it out... he is not kind to obese individuals. He very much describes obese individuals as being a huge burden on society, by their own choosing, and that they need to take personal responsibility.
-
I've heard of it happening. Sometimes your body can hold on to excess water as you're losing fat. Sometimes you can put on a little muscle, sometimes both. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
-
I mean, it's more that *corporations* didn't like it. Like it or not, corporations own America. What they say goes. We'd have to uproot the entire way the government works to change that. And that ain't happening.
-
You say you're underweight. Chronic severe calorie restriction can definitely cause gastrointestinal issues... which only your doctor can really help you with. I second Ann's question about what your doctor has said about it.
-
I don't know. 1 person saying don't lose more weight... I'd say just shrug it off, they're not used to seeing you smaller. But 3? That would give me pause. But I can't say, because I don't know your stats nor can I see how thin you are. So, in the end, do what works for you.
-
I mean, you could, look up a different vodka entry, but you'd be deceiving yourself. Vodka has calories, which, for these purposes, since they're alcohol calories, they count as carbs.
-
No worries, I wasn't trying to call you out specifically, your posts are always well considered and I know that wasn't your intention at all. It's more for people in general who, like me, tend to hyperfixate on particular aspects of our bodies.

Can we not bring this back? I really don't think it's healthy. At all. To compare waist sizes like this. The only people who comment are people with almost ideal ratios... because... well, we all know why. Personally, I got down to 80 pounds trying to get a 25 inch waist. And I never did. Even at 80 pounds. In my opinion,…

Anybody remember what happened when New York made it illegal to sell soft drinks in a cup over a certain size (don't remember what that size was). It was a fiasco. People revolted. It got repealed. And that was just telling people they couldn't buy sodas in gigantic cups. ETA: just looked it up, the limit was 16 ounces.

Yes, there are absolutely factors that complicate the "calorie in, calorie out" equation, particularly the calorie out part. I have never eaten back exercise calories, because it overcomplicates it and really is not necessary unless you're running a marathon. I agree that, yes, what you eat does matter. Mostly for reasons…
-
No, you don't need to use all your calories. You'll be fine. Calorie counting is inexact at best (meaning you're not actually eating that number of calories anyway). It's an estimate that helps you gage whether you're eating way too much or way too little. I dislike MFP's way of giving an exact number and saying "eat this,…

I'm a home workout person. Used to love the gym, but then found I just couldn't convince myself to go. So I started doing it at home.
-
Taking a break and eating at maintenence is fine. During your break, tighten up your logging and .take sure your calirie counts are right. If you're sure your calorie count is right, then you may need to consider lowering your calories a bit more after your maintenence break.

When I look it up, a "medium" apple is considered to be around 180 grams for 90 calories. So I don't know, but everyone's opinion on size of an apple will vary. Which is why weighing is key.

Beans, lentils, tofu, eggs (if you eat them) are all high in protein.
-
E Now we can all get semaglutide and look like.... skeletons? I thought we left heroin chic behind back in the nineties.
-
I could see this... if somehow someone you cared about didn't realize they were fat... for example they talk about being thin and very healthy but are actually 250 lbs.... but honestly, I think most heavy people realize they're heavy, and are aware of their own health issues.
-
Wait, what? How do you sleep? Do you work nights? I have so many questions now.

Slow loss is sustainable loss. This is a lifelong endeavor, not a few month race to the finish line (cause there is no finish line).
-
That makes sense! Thank you for the clarification.
