My apologies. I’ve corrected my post with respect to your name. I was responding to your post.

Agree! I started doing it when I worked with a woman who greeted me every morning with a comment about how I needed to fix my makeup (“omg girl! Put on some LIPSTICK!” etc) because I looked “tired.” I had a newborn. (She never had kids.) Yes I was tired. Exhausted, really. I started saying “oh, your work is overwhelming…

For the same volume, muscle does weigh more than fat. I’m pretty sure that’s what most people mean when they say muscle weighs more than fat, and Andia didn’t say a pound of muscle weighs more than a pound of fat. There are countless posts on MFP about how people who have gained muscle have smaller measurements despite not…

Doesn’t look like it.

Sure. I’m losing 10 pounds per month. June is 7 weeks away. Set your MFP loss rate at 1.5 pounds a week. Then stick to your calorie goal and exercise without eating every exercise calorie back. ETA: just answering the OP’s question. Whether it’s an advisable goal wasn’t the question.

Try “enough about ME. Let’s talk about YOU for awhile.” Most of the time, shifting to the other person after they’ve overstepped is a great tactic. Ex: Them: wow you look awful You: having a bad day? I’m sorry. What can I do to help? Them: no, I mean your face is so much older now that you’re skinny You: it’s not like you…

Exactly what I meant, but more succinctly stated.

Not true for me. I’ve always been very outgoing and confident and aware of my worth (and educated and competent) but when I’m heavier SOME other people treat me like they need me to acknowledge my lesser (fatty) worth by piping down. Or I’ve been treated like I’m invisible. When I’m closer to goal weight, I get more…

I've had big boobage and small boobage. I hate big boobage. Just thought that might help. Prob doesn't. Sorry.

Sure, if they lose fat. How do *I* lose fat? Calorie deficit, lifting and an hour a day of cardio (for additional calorie deficit). (Btw, at my most fit and with a strong core and low body fat, my stomach wasn't very flat because of the damage done by three pregnancies. I had my abs surgically repaired. NOW my stomach is…

There's no difference between drug abuse and alcohol abuse. Someone who has a drug addiction has no business drinking alcohol. Sure, it's probably difficult to find a partner who NEVER drinks, but people who don't ABUSE alcohol or drugs aren't uncommon. The question is whether you're far enough along in your recovery to…

You beat me to it. My niece put her WLS on her credit card. She lost some weight but gained it all back and was still in debt. I'd be more willing to finance skin removal/breast lift/tummy tuck. It's a good incentive for losing by eating less and moving more, which you have to do even with WLS.

Honesty and being rude are two totally different things [/quote] You're right. Honesty is stating facts, and whether someone is being rude is an opinion. It is a fact that sara is looking older, she is shocked at it herself and says so. So others notice this fact. When they notice this fact and talk about it, it's your…

It probably wouldn't have tasted very good anyway. Good for you!

New PB on bench today: 165 :)

Because they're eating more calories than they're expending.

Poundcake.

At three weeks it's easier. After twelve weeks it's habitual and probably enjoyable.

Sounds like you trust your own MFP logging. Go with it.

Tough crowd. #hangry

In the past I've been in the mindset of "that's not enough calories" but right now I'm eating 1300 calories and although I'm occasionally hungry, I'm usually able to end dinner with about 100 calories left over (which I do eat). I don't want to be judgy but I don't usually have dinners that go much over 450 calories. For…

Cooked. No idea if that's right.

When a participant on "Naked and Afraid" loses 42 pounds in 19 days, it's hard to argue that "starvation mode" is a thing.
-
Serious question: what's "starvation mode"?
-
I had a breast reduction to fix that. Ymmv but insurance covered it because (mental picture time) the pendulum effect was bad for my upper back. Best thing I ever did.
-
I totally agree. I get on the scale with a long term attitude ("maybe I'm up a pound today but by my weekly weigh in I'll likely be at goal" or "I didn't hit my goal for the week but let's see what it looks like tomorrow"). So many of us have had No Loss, No Loss, No Loss, No Loss but then a pretty decent loss suddenly…

Watching "Survivor" causes me to gain water weight. So does looking at a dessert menu. I just pretend there's a guerilla war going on in my body and as long as I don't give up, the water weight won't win.

Weight loss gremlins?

Until I'm no longer at an obese weight, I'm not eating back my exercise calories. Since I don't even know for sure how many I'm burning, it works for me. I do log what the machines tell me, just for my own records.
