  • I try not to buy things that I stress eat (mostly peanut butter and chips), so now stress eating involves mostly pickles. Also, if I stay out of the kitchen I eat a lot less.
  • I'm 5' 11", 160, desk job, but go to the gym daily, and I maintain on about 1900 net.
  • Two things: 1) always buy a sample so that you can try before you buy a whole bunch; and 2) always cost compare with your local warehouse store (Costco) or Amazon, you will usually get a much better price than buying it from a sports nutrition type store (no sense paying an arm and a leg at a specialty store when it is the…
  • I second the fork dipping tip and some of the lower calorie dressing options (Bolthouse and Litehouse). I like to put olives and pepperoncinis (banana peppers) on my salads as replacement for dressing. Olives have a few calories, but you can pretty much have however many pepperoncinis you want. I also like to go to the…
  • Hot water right after working out may reduce muscle soreness.

  • It tells me why I am so tired some days, typically due to a lot of light sleep. Also, it helps me make sure I am getting enough sleep (total hours).
  • Old Navy, but I don't usually need anything fancy.
  • What do you have available and what do you like to eat? Roasted vegetables are always a good place to start adding vegetables into your diet.

  • I usually eat at maintenance the week before my period. That way I don't have to worry. I don't really have cravings, it is more of an insatiable hunger for a couple of days.
  • You don't have to eat breakfast, but breakfast can be pretty much anything. I had leftover pizza yesterday and a protein bar this morning. I know you said you struggle to eat eggs, but I like to make quiche on Sunday and have it for breakfast all week. I eat a lot of eggs because they are super easy, but so are things like…
  • From what I understand, the only way to make it taste like take out is to add a lot more peanut oil than you probably want to. I have an acquaintance who says that lo mein depends on peanut oil for that take out flavor, as well as a very hot wok, sugar, and MSG.

  • Drink if you are thirsty. If you are worried talk to your doctor; excessive thirst can be symptom of other issues. It is hard to really drink too much water if you have kidneys that function properly. How much you need to drink will depend on a wide variety of factors. FWIW, I typically drink 4 to 6 liters of water a day.…
  • They should stay in your "recent" list.
  • Interesting study. Probably won't make me eat more white meat and less red meat. Although, I have to wonder what the tipping point is for statistically increased risk, maybe I already eat an appropriate balance.
  • You can reduce your serving size, but that is usually disappointing. Also, you can do some BG testing to see how different foods affect you. Some people only have issues with white rice, but can tolerate brown. Typically, for this kind of issue (pre-diabetes/insulin resistance), the problem is more related to how many…
  • It could just be more protein than you are used to in one meal, since your are typically vegetarian. Sometimes eating more protein than I typically would in a given meal will give me a stomach ache.
  • My biggest recommendation, if you can manage it, is to donate or store out of your kitchen all of the carb-heavy items that will tempt you. Think cereals, oatmeal, flour, sugar, pasta, crackers. If you eventually decide to stay keto, you will have to get rid of these items, but if you decide that it doesn't work for you…
  • Cottage cheese with salt and pepper is good, but I also like it with various fruits added in (peaches, berries, pears). I don't do it much anymore, but I used to make a quiche on Sunday and eat it all week. Crust-less or alternative crusts help with the calories and you can add in whatever you have on hand (cottage cheese…
  • Here is an ice cream recipe... which I haven't tried because I just found it last week. I make these pancakes with a vanilla powder that I can't stand and the pancakes are awesome.
  • I always cost compare and usually Costco is less expensive in my area.
  • Costco has a good selection of both powders and bars in my town; the selection is mostly vanilla and chocolate powders, but a pretty good variety of bars. They have the lowest prices I have seen by far. Sometimes I order more specialty products, like grass fed whey or special flavors, from Vitacost, although I do cost…
  • If you open your diary, people could give you more specific advice based on what you are already eating. However, generally speaking, and I hate saying it because it is my least favorite meat, but chicken breast is an easy option to add protein. It is basically fat and carb free. You can bake a bunch at once and add it to…
  • I have never consumed more calories than I normally would on the day before or after a fast.

  • I don't really like cloud bread as a bread replacement, but I do like to add a bit of vanilla extract and a stevia drop or two to the standard recipe to make a low-carb pancake alternative. They keep okay for a few days in a sealed container on my counter and taste good with sugar free syrup. I just heat them in the…
  • I typically eat out at lunch on Saturdays and Sundays; usually fast food on Saturdays and sit down on Sundays. This is only because I am with my parents doing things, if I weren't I would eat food from home. Eating out is expensive.
  • I like to make jello and use half and half or cream as the cold liquid. I usually do sugar free, but it will work fine with regular.
  • Unless you have some kind of condition that requires you to limit sugar, that doesn't seem like a lot of fruit. The question is, does eating fruit fill you up and keep you full? Since you are on a 1200 calorie diet, you probably need to make sure to choose foods that keep you full for minimal calories.
