That's the one. Nerd Fitness is pretty good about ads; they'll try to get you to sign up for their premium content, but that's about all. The best way - in my opinion - to make progress is to find a structured program that you like and stick with it for at least 6 months, then reevaluate.

Yes and no. I can still do everything I've ever done, exercise-wise, I've just had to modify some things to accommodate my aging corpse. Running and lifting programs tend to be aimed at a younger set; people our age won't be able to progress as fast as they call for. Slow down, take smaller steps, and take more recovery…

Had a couple of friends who tried MFP, but it 'didn't work's. They would choose the lowest calorie option for each item, like "oh, a slice of cheesecake is only 135 calories? sweet! and I only ate like 1/8 of it, so..." (bad math ensues) Nooo... that Cheesecake Factory slice was 910 calories and you ate like 90% of it!…

If I had to get dressed and go to a gym I'd never workout. I have a set-up in the garage: adjustable dumbells, barbell and plates, and a rack I cobbled together from 2x12s and some pipe from the home store. Anyone who sees the car in the driveway knows I'm "at the gym" and leaves me alone.
