I’d be interested in being an accountability partner. I need one also. I’m 59 in pretty good shape because I work out like a dog....lol. Just kidding. I am in pretty good shape because I cycle a lot also, retired so lately I’m riding around 9000 a year. I tend to slack on weight training from spring to fall because I’m…

Good morning all! It's weird there are so many posts here that are before mine that weren't there last night. Anyway, like @donimfp mentioned, I totally have found that it is much easier to be alcohol free than to moderate. It turns off almost all of the "drinking thinking". It just take less mental energy, and so far I am…

I'm doing great with the not drinking...not so great with logging food on MFP. I logged today despite having loads of sugar ugh. I have been alcohol free since mid January. This weekend we ate at a fine restaurant and my husband got the wine pairing with his meal. When it came to my favorite (Chardonnay!) with the main…

I can so relate to this. I would make sure my husband always had craft beers that he liked on hand so that he did not try to “steal” any of my wine. I would also watch how big of a glass he poured for himself and would worry about running out, or not getting my fair share. This line of thinking was embarrassing to me but…

Fellow cyclist here and yes this was me to a TEE! I am ramping up my cycling lately and I see a clear connection in the the exercise and drinking! So far so good but I am aware of how they were previously so connected. It will be challenging when it warms up and we stop at the brewery after long rides. I definetly need a…

@crazykatlady820 wow! That many days is awesome. And yes alcohol is an anesthetic and not a very good one. Glad you realized it as did I !!! I often would have a drink to soothe my physical aches and pains as well as psychological! From the history of anesthesia: “Alcohol was also used, not very effectively, during the…

Still enjoying not drinking any alcohol. Truly amazing to me. I started out trying to moderate but wow that is a lot of mental effort and I am finding the more I read about alcohol and its depressant, anesthetic, and carcinogenic effects, I really just can't imagine starting to drink again. I don't like to talk about it…

Went out with friends on Thursday for dinner and a crafty event afterward (kind of like those places where you paint but instead we made a centerpiece box). ANYWAY, it was a wedding shower of sorts so it was all ladies and the wine was flowing. Normally I would be the ringleader...but I stuck to Perrier all night long. A…

That is exactly what I said! The packaging says “new”. It looked and tasted exactly the same to me but my guess is that they either did not account for the peanut sauce originally or they have added fat to the chicken stuff inside. Either way definitely not worth 680!

I'm new and would like to join. I started out this January with a goal to moderate. However the more I read and the longer I went without alcohol, I realized that maybe cutting it out entirely was the way I should go. I 'd like to be the person who can have a glass every once in a while but right now I'm not that person. I…

My husband recently bought a Bike Friday, but he did not like it vs a regular road bike. He sold it after one trip to Hawaii. Rental bikes (good ones) were available there for as many days as we would have needed so would have been way cheaper than shipping ours like we did. We have also been looking at the Ritchey…

Made it through 2 wine events events yesterday! And I had to shop and bring wine to both...phew. I've been reading up on the psychology of cutting back on drinking. One of the things I read is that it is important, IF you are going to drink to not give in to an urge but to decide that you are going to drink in advance. So…

So far it has been tough, but I've stuck with it. I WAS (using the past tense already, positive thinking!) a daily drinker, at least 2 glasses of wine each evening. My husband has cut out the wine (has beer instead, I like beer occasionally but usually only after a long hard bike ride...not to relax in the evening. So his…

I'm in as well. In the past I have gone Jan to Feb 14 but did not do it this year.
