  • I've only gone down 1 jeans size after 40 pounds from a 36 to a 34. I think it has to do with where it comes off. First it was my gut then my arms. I ended up going from an XXL shirt to an L.
  • Lunges with dumbbells. You can keep your body upright while still working the hamstrings.
  • Depends on what type of training you're doing. Weightlifting typically takes me anywhere from 30-60 minutes. Cardio becomes less effective the more often you do it, as the body becomes more efficient, so you need to either increase duration or intensity to have the same effect.
  • All that really matters for weight loss is calories in versus calories out. Some days I eat a little many times, others I eat once. Depends on what works for you. Just make sure to stay around your goal calories. I will say that since I've started eating breakfast more often I feel better throughout the day.
  • Just added you. Trying to lose about that much. 20 kg by the summer will be super hard though. Hoping to be there by the end of the summer.
  • Practice makes perfect. You want to train under conditions as similar to the ones you will be racing in as possible.
  • @Makx2017 if you're trying to lose 1lb per week you need to be in a caloric deficit of 3500 calories a week. So if you need to eat 2000 calories a day to achieve this, and you exercise 500 calories per day, you in theory need to eat 2500 calories per day to achieve 1lb a week of loss. 2250 and you'd lose slightly more.…
  • You said you drink fairly often on weekends, alcohol tends to be stored more in the abdomen if my recollection isn't failing me. If you drink heavily on those days it could be why your WHR is off. Also if you're doing that much activity (running and walking and the gym) and only net 1100 per day, I'd put money down that…
  • Get a fitness tracker, I bet you move more than you think at work. All those steps add up. How long did it take you to lose those 7?
  • Less on food, more on supps.
  • Life used to be exhausting for me until I started working out. Once I started working out I don't need to find the time I make the time because I feel great afterwards. There are plenty of workouts to suit just about anyone's constraints. My friend does bodyweight exercises while watching tv after work. I go to the gym…
  • Man, I've got a long way to go lol. 6'0", 265 at start and currently 218. Honestly thought I'd look more like you by now haha. Good job dude.
  • At first yes, you will probably appear larger. I went through this phase when I first started lifting. However, increased muscle mass = more calories burned per day. Now the weight is melting off. I would keep at it. The weight mainteneance/gain phase lasted around 4 months for me but I kept at it. Ultimately your body…
  • Any green vegetable.
  • Fitness tracker and MFP. MFP alone was good for a while but my progress has improved 1000 fold since I got my garmin vivoactiv-hr. Macro counting is what I have found to be most useful. Allows flexibility with what you eat while still providing enough of what you need to eat.
  • Do you take a multi vitamin? Helps ensure you're getting enough nutrients.
  • Starvation mode in the sense that it is taught in fitness circles, from my understanding, is more geared toward competitive bodybuilders that want to hang into every ounce of muscle they can. If you just want to be a healthy weight, calories in vs. calories out is pretty much all that matters, from my understanding.
  • Your body needs at least a minimum of calories to maintain healthy processes and hormone levels. Since you are probably at relatively low body fat (BMI is not the greatest benchmark) it may be difficult for you to achieve your desired physique (bodyfat level) without exercise. I would try exercising such as weight training…
  • I eat a looooooot of meat, as well as eggs and egg whites. My kick lately is buying sirloin tip steaks and chicken tenderloins for the week. The grocery store I buy at has a frozen "stir fry blend" so I slice up the steak or chicken, brown it, throw in the blend and 5 minutes later I have my meal(s) for the day. 5 minutes…
  • This happened to me when I first started lifting. Muscle holds a lot of water, so as your lean body mass increases so will your weight. Tracking your body fat percentage (such as with a caliper) will show your progress more than just weight loss. Of course if you aren't lifting there's some other issue probably at work…
  • Honestly, IMO, and what has worked for me, its just about counting macronutrients and calories. This works for me because I can still enjoy foods that would be off limits on certain diets. If I have consumed few carbs and few fats for the day, I can eat a pack of M&Ms and still hit my macros. Macros can also be tailored to…
  • All of those are good carbs if you just don't eat too much of them. I eat all of those things. I just count my macros. 100-150g carbs, 200-250g protein, under 70-80g fats. Around 1800-2100 calories daily. It's highly refined processed sugars that should be avoided, such as chips, soda, candy, sugary cereals, etc. I have…
