Tomorrow is my weekly weigh-in day. Week before last, because I had been screwing around with the food, I was horrified to see I had actually GAINED three pounds :s !!! Got back on track this past week and I certainly hope I get better news in the morning.

Thanks for your kind words, Keto! I've been spending hours a day making graphite drawings but these don't take nearly enough energy as easel painting. I'm hoping that OMAD will eventually provide the energy and motivation which I'm lacking now. ;)

My God, Keto, your meals look like spreads from Gourmet Magazine. You obviously are the kind of person who, when she decides to do something, she does it right. Mazel Tov!

@ KetoKaHee: I agree, Keto, multiple meals throughout the day is a time (and budget) consuming bummer :( . If you'd like to see my work, go to www.paintingsilove.com/artist/jimflanagan.

I like anything that's high in calories, especially fats, proteins, and starches mixed together! My favorite staples are strictly working class: chicken thighs and rice, franks, beans w/sauerkraut, macaroni salad w/canned salmon, fried eggs and potatoes, potato salad wrapped in thin ham slices. I have to go easy on my…

Today's my 8th OMAD day and I finally figured out how to structure my meal. I've been trying to emulate Joe's one plate/one hour method but frankly, because I'm a compulsive person :# (Big News!) it was making me nuts trying to get the foods requiring different types of prep and cooking methods ready to eat at the same…

One of the things I like most about OMAD is that you only have to interact with food once a day. For someone like myself with serious control issues this is like the lifting of a great weight and has already increased my sense of well-being and mood as I go about my daily activities. :)

Just found out that Joe is going to do a video on what got him started doing something "crazy" and "unhealthy" like the OMAD lifestyle. I'm one of those guys who HAS to know about the origins of things so I'm really looking forward to it. @ KeetoKaHee and Blambo61: I lost all my excess weight back in the 80's at Overeaters…

One of the strangest things about being a compulsive eater is that over and over again I would order binge/trigger foods with my regular groceries and tell myself, for example, I'll eat a half cup a day of the Haagen-Dasz and it will last the week. Of course there was no way I could stop myself once I took my first bite.…

Thank you all for your kind words...and right back atcha! :)

WOW!!! Every Monday morning I get a robo-call from Humana in which they get an update on my weight and other medical info so Monday is my regular weigh-day.. This morning I was astonished to see that in my first five days doing OMAD I dropped from 284 to 278...six pounds in five days! (Joe has now become "St. Joseph", my…

That's a big part of how AA members stop drinking, Blam. Just as effective for people (like me) with eating disorders.

Thanks everyone....the hunger pangs fell off considerably last night so I guess the beat-up old bod is beginning to learn a new trick. Just sent a message to Joe asking him to make a video telling us about how he got started, who were his influences and why he picked this particular method of intermittent fasting. There…

It's after 10pm and I got through my 3rd day swimmingly. Since I'm hitting the big "Eight-O" this year I'm wondering if I'm the oldest guy doing OMAD, A big part of my motivation is I really don't know how much time I have left and I want to experience all those benefits Joe describes, especially the mental clarity,…

Hi Brenda...went back into my profile and downloaded my avatar again according to your instructions but still no luck. Maybe I should change my name to Gray Eminence. P.S. Your weight seems to be sliding off nicely and your food photos are amazing! (How have I gotten this old without tasting venison ???)

Thank you so much Keto, Levee, Brenda, and Blambo for your encouragement. I appreciate your kind thoughts more than you know! <3

Thanks so much, Brenda. Jim

Enjoy!

Thanks everyone! Can anybody tell me how to get my avatar to show intead of that gray thing?

Hi John...your experience with hunger matches my own exactly. Hunger pangs can turn a grown man into a coward. For me there's nothing more humiliating than instances where I was stuffed to the point of sickness and threw whatever was left of my binge food into the garbage can...only to find myself a little later reaching…

Mom2Annie and Leveejohn: Thanks so much for your kind welcome....had my one-plate meal at 10:30 (1000-1100 calories) consisting of chicken with rice, spinach, potato salad, and grapefruit juice. My daughter Emily dropped by and while I was eating she graciously cleaned up the kitchen which I had utterly destroyed preparing…

Hello everyone! My name is Jim Flanagan and I'll be having my first OMAD meal later today... I'm 285, 5' 6" and will be 80 yrs old come September. My initial weight goal is to get under 250 and my eating window is 10 am to 2 pm. I'm very sedentary and arthritic (I hobble around on a walker) and I'm guessing that around a…
