I find it easier to not go over my calorie limit when I eat 3 meals a day, instead of one large meal a day. If I'm super hungry by the time I sit down for my meal, then I can't seem to be able to stop when I'm full. Starvation-mode, on the other hand, is a myth. I guess for me the motivation is being able to run again, without risking injury to my knees. Whenever I'm tempted to give in to my cravings I remember how good it felt to run when I was 10 years younger, and how I can feel that way again. It has worked so far.

Remember how your feeling stronger and fitter did not depend on one particular article of clothing fitting or not fitting. Try to recapture that feeling. And stick with it. I keep a box of precut veggies in the fridge these days. If I get cravings for junk, I saute them in water and munch on them. The cravings go away…

Thanks, sorry I should have mentioned. My diet includes both. So my diet right now has lean chicken, fish, egg whites, oatmeal, tomato slice, whole wheat bread, spinach, banana, yoghurt and banana. I can't eat another banana without going over my carb limit, and I can stand only so much spinach on a daily basis :(

Are you going grocery shopping while hungry? I find that I make much better choices when I go after a full meal. Weird, huh? Could it be that you're actually under your calorie requirement and the hunger signals are actually real?
