  • For me probably at the end of February 2019. I am about 6 lbs away from goal currently. I am still undecided though if I will try and lose another 5 lbs after that. If I do it will be a slow loss...probably take at least 3 to 4 months.
  • I was always into exercise but I had this weird all or nothing mentality...I would start the day thinking okay this is it, today I am going to exercise for an hour and eat perfectly..then if something happened that would change plans I would use that as an excuse to blow it for the rest of the day. If an event was…
  • Started back on March 27th...IF was my choice to lose weight. On March 26th I stumbled across a post about IF, read about it, then started the very next day! I do either an 8 or 6 hour feeding window daily. I have had a few days over the last 9 months where I resorted back to old ways of eating but would always refocus.…
  • This^^ we went to SIL for "lunch" get to her place and she is like I was thinking we could eat around four. .
  • Love IF myself, even if I am eating not great for whatever reason, as long as I stick to my 6 or 8 hour eating window I feel in control of my eating. I have had too many days prior to starting IF where my eating was out of control basically eating from sun-up to sundown.
  • The OP said she has personally used it and has had friends who have used it with great results so why is she asking if it works???? Probably trying to drum up business for her friends.
  • LOoks like a typical pay to lose weight scheme.
  • IF is probably your thing then:) I love it myself, even if I am not watching what I am eating the eating window period gives me structure and control and I need that.
  • If you are interested in doing IF then do it! To me a 16:8 is not that big of a deal so you stop eating for the day at 5:30 or 6:00 then not have something to eat until 9:30 or 10:00 the next morning, that is it! Workout at the time that is convienient for you...either in the evening or in the a.m. and there you go. If you…
  • Lost 25 lbs on it in 5 months. I did not count calories, however I just tried to eat in moderation, ate what I wanted but when I ate something such as chips/chocolate, etc. I just ate less of it. I would eat unlimited fruits and veggies though. My eating window was 6 to 8 hours on average. I am a big exerciser too...would…
  • Canada here too! You have to adapt. I do kickboxing year round but also tend to do more outdoor workouts in the summer/fall, etc. Because of winter/cold I started about a month ago going to the gym first thing in the morning 3 or 4x per week before work, to makeup for not being outside as much, and I love it!!! I have a 30…
  • IF has been so good for me. I am someone who is not interested in counting calories/points, etc. So IF has helped me immensely it gives me structure and control. Even when I have a day where I am eating whatever I want in the amounts I want (and we all do this) I still feel in control as long as I keep it in my eating…
  • I tend to do it more if someone is retiring or perhaps sympathy flowers, etc. are being purchased. I agree with you about the wedding. I don't know him that well and have never met his now wife so no money from me.
  • Holy smoke, I can barely handle 18 hours without eating some days:)
  • I love IF too! It has also given me structure. Even if I am having not a great eating day as long as I keep it within 6 or 8 hours I feel in control of my eating. How I gained weight was my eating was not controlled, I was an all or nothing person. Plus for me counting calories/points, etc. does not appeal to me. Prior to…
  • Sounds like a diet that someone would do for a few days then give it up.
  • Mixed on this...on one hand I get what you are trying to do but then I think let them deal with it with each other. *kitten* happens and sometimes it just blows over on its own and sometimes it doesn't. I don't buy this blood is thicker than water crap that people say...that family is forever and you should do whatever you…
  • I agree with you, I have revamped and am doing on average an 8 hour feeding window instead of six. I do pretty good on average with working out anyway but some of those "bad" eating days I tend to say screw it with working out I will just lay on the couch stuffing my face. So my commitment to myself is mandatory 8 hour…
  • Started at 181...currently 158.5 lbs. My goal is 150.
  • Think as well..what is the alternative? Gaining the weight back? ..I am in the same boat. I lost 25 lbs this year and am close to goal and the fear of gaining the weight back scares me. I was at goal back in 2012 and gained back the weight plus....never again!
  • Maybe switch to some other type of exercise? That might shake things up and increase your motivation.
  • Absolutely...honestly I think it was because I was close to my goal. It is like whatever, if I gain one lb or so not the end of the world, some of the pressure has come off and because I was closer to my goal I figured that the weight loss was going to be slower anyway. I have been thinking about this and have decided that…
  • Yes for sure...but my issue is when I revert back to old habits such as eating from morning thru till bedtime or feeling that I have to eat the whole family size bag of potato chips (this way they will not be around the next day) instead of shutting down my eating window and saving some for the next day. However that is…
  • LOL never said that...I am a huge believer in IF regardless. However just because I have 5 months or so of doing it does not mean that years of bad habits come undone. I will still continue to do it I just have to be more diligent with it...no different than someone counting calories/points, etc.
  • I would think it would depend on the kind of fat...there are good fats and bad fats. Fat is no longer the enemy...sugar is worse.
  • I disagree...I don't think it is too restrictive at all. I had these moments when I was counting calories/points/fat grams, etc. etc. etc. I have no interest in counting anything...except the hours that I eat in the day:)
  • Disagree. .if not for IF I do not believe I would have lost 25 lbs. Even though I have been hit and miss with it the last few months I always go back to it.
  • I think for me 2 factors: 1 - all or nothing mentality which I have had for years 2- low fat ....for years low fat was my way of thinking in my head thus eating cheese/nuts etc triggers in me that I wrecked my day as those foods r high in fat
  • It is almost like I think who cares I only have 8 lbs left to lose so even if I gain a bit....but it is like wtf keep doing this and by six months i will be up to where I was. I tell myself if u r going to do that at least keep the eating contained to six hours but nope my triggers get activated and I go back to all or…
  • Interesting explain please
