Well I'm caught in the trap of the bouncing yoyo of eating and weight. Staying the course has gone well, but it's interesting that the increase in my weight is inversely proportionate to the reduction in calories that I'm eating! Go figure - caloric intake down, steps up, weight up! Fortunately my weight is still on a…

@0Connell5483 "I cannot be in two states at once. It's impossible even if I wanted to." Maybe the solution is your boss takes on one? That might make it real to her. B) I admire your perseverence, your dedication and your calm level headedness that's emerging. And yes I get that it's just a job but it's one that's…

Well.. just for today I blew it! lol. But the mixed salads, fresh sandwich, veggies and cheese was soooo good ! Fortunately for me my excess today was only slightly more than yesterday's shortfall, so hopefully it will all balance out. But I still managed to log and step and drink tons of water!

My suggestions, if I may.... with looming deadlines it's time for critical thinking and time to focus on the main objective: the must haves (i.e. not the nice-to-haves) to get the job done. There'll probably be a myriad of things (noise) that will try to take your attention but it's just that "noise". If you can visualize…

Welcome to the group Nikki! Commitment (to ourselves) can be a tough challenge if we let it be. But it's really just a part of life - one moment, one decision at a time: consciously choosing to make ourselves and our goals the priority. Logging is easy - as Nike says "just do it" - the rewards are plentiful for just being…

Yesterday's goals ... ✔ Log, log, log ✔ Enjoy fresh veggies instead of pasta Ok, low on fresh veggies, but changed out the carbs and no pasta! o:) ✔ Drink, drink, drink lots of water - it's going to be a hot day today 40 ozs! Tried the Happy Scale app that @12774 recommended and it works well - love seeing that weight…

We're changing a lifetime of habits. And just like when we were learning to walk - it takes baby steps! Best of luck to you on this first step!

Welcome Newbie! Glad you've joined us. Appreciate the reminder that we're all "newbies" of sorts. Each day is a new opportunity to forget any shortcomings of previous days and take one step towards our goals with renewed determination. Best of success to all as we take that step towards our goals "just for today.

Definitely going to check that app out.

So exited today! I survived yesterday's BBQ/Garden Party and Canada 150 festivities, ate what seemed to be a lot at the time but came in at goal despite it all! Woohoo! On top of that it was check-in time this morning and while I'd been avoiding doing the measurement thing I found the courage and got a pleasant surprise.…

Friday before the extra long weekend and lots of partying happening. Thankfully with summer here, it's also outdoor BBQ time with an assortment of fresh fruits and salads! I'll be sticking close by the healthy goodies and have no concerns about being tempted by the sweet table or the beer/wine - lucky me! Now here's hoping…

Well, I'm back - after a lengthy break with a few "marbles" added to the jar - fortunate for me it was only a few! B) Tracking is on track for the last 3 days; water is good and am actually managing to get in some steps. So all in all, it's going to be a great week as long as I stay focused on the goal of taking it one day…

@joan6630 Sometimes it's easy to get discouraged when we look ahead to where we want to be and it seems so far off. We're changing a lifetime of ingrained habits and behaviours and expecting it to happen over night. The reality is, the fact we are aware and conscious of each choice we make whether aligned with our goals or…

@mary_clinton6 I checked and there's actually a "myfitnesspal" help Q&A. Here's the link to the page. Seems we can easily add steps in the "my exercise" section of the app. MFP Help pages... myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/300784-can-i-convert-my-pedometer-steps-into-calories- I never thought of doing it…

Well today's going to be a "fun day" not! Saturday bingo night with my Mom and sister and we know we can't just sit there and daub away without munchies. BUT I have a plan and that's half the battle! Bring along my usual food snackpack that I take to work every day (counted veggies, cheese, crackers) to munch on so I stay…

What kind of phone and app are you using? I use an iPhone and the Health app that interfaces with MyFitnessPal.

Losing my marbles! When I was on a weight loss program decades ago, the group suggested visualizing a pound of butter for every pound lost as means to measure progress and as an incentive - because we really are losing a pound of fat with each pound we lose Well, I still want a visual reminder of success, but I've opted…

@mary_clinton6 "My steps aren't always counted since I don't always have my phone on me" I just figured out today that I can add steps to my phone. So when I don't have it with me, I'm still counting steps so I can add them later on. Works great!

Starting day 3 and thanks for the support and encouragement. Yesterday's goals: Motivation - Stay the course for a 2nd day - Recording worked great, calorie count sucked. lol Water - Drink 2 containers (40 ounces) - Short 5 oz, but yes! Food Choices - Eat 3 meals + snacks - Yes and then some Activity - Do more steps than I…

@OConnell5483 - Re getting your activity in. How about when you get home, just drop everything at the door and go for a brisk walk around the block or two. The reward: once you're done you get to relax on the couch! >:)

Hi All ! Today is Day 1 of my new beginning and I'm so glad I found this thread. What a great idea: "just for today" fits with my approach - just for this moment, just for today, one step at a time, one ounce at a time! I have over 100+ pounds to shed and there's no time like now to start. :) As for goals, I'm happy I…
