Both! Weights are awesome, cardio is needed do you can outrun the zombies.

I find intervals very helpful. Run / walk - push yourself, but don't overdo it. If you don't like C25K, try Running. Similar concept. These help because you can concentrate on putting one foot in front of the other and the program takes care of the music and time to run or walk. Drink water!

Great comments! I don't believe 1400 a day would be helpful with lifting. He is your trainer- ask him to explain the 2000 a day. The development of trust is crucial. Change can sink anyone for a while. Good for you for taking positive steps! I used to struggle in the afternoon and be totally exhausted by evening with 3 kids to go home to and cook dinner for.
