@LolaDeeDaisy23 - I am not sure what a bod pod is, sorry! The DEXA scan is supposed to be one of the most accurate tools available. As for cost, I'm in Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada), and it was pretty inexpensive... 120 for the DXA scan, 220 including the Bone Density Scan. I got the bone density scan due to an…

I tried my first Quest bar yesterday - I can honestly say I felt awful after eating it... sluggish, wanting to nap, it was hard to get thru the day. Today I've been extra hungry and craving... so I don't think it did me any favours. I won't make that mistake again.

I am currently doing Low Carb/High Fat/Keto - and I have PCOS. I've been doing mine over a month now and have had success with weight loss and with my blood sugar levels for sure. (also just feel better). On the Low Carb group (http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group) there seems…

My cough is sticking around a bit still but otherwise doing much better... from the sounds of it this WOE is way better for the immune system!
-
this is where I really wish I had've known YEARS ago about this way of eating... I could have saved myself weeks of lung infection over those years!
-
Recippeeeeeeeeee...pretty please :)

I would be doing the dance of joy to be in the 180's. :) Congrats!

Quite a few moons ago I purchased "sugar free" (Made with Malitol) chocolates from a local chocolatier.. I thought "oh hey I can eat six of these and it will be fine!". Thank god they were pricey b/c six was all I was willing to spend $$ on, which I ate, all in one go, like a good chocoholic. I spent the entire night…

Nice!! You are inspiration to us newbies!

I must admit, I am a slave to my scale - emotion wins out over logic alllll the time and when I gain I want to cry and scream... but I think the best idea really... is that blow torch idea. The scale is an unrepentant liar and evil thing from the bowels of weight loss hell. *ahem.... in my opinion anyway!*

This is my first TOM on this WOE. The upside: I did not actually have much weight gain getting UP to it, (in fact I lost weight?), now that it is day 1 - I have notice a small gain (nothing huge) - the downside... with a healing body the whole process seems slightly more painful and sensitive. Anyway, question: should we…

treehugnmama - I've never had a problem with my BP personally... I don't think anyway. But my thyroid meds made me really ancy and my heart race.
-
I had gone to a naturopath who tested all my thyroid, she thought it was a bit low even though it was called "normal" by my doc... and put me on meds to increase it, but the meds made my heart race and they were awful. So I just don't know.... I so wish I could just pay to have tests sometimes... but I can't argue with our…

@KnitOrMiss - thanks for the valuable insights. I have had my thyroid checked and apparently it's all clear.. the neuropathy is minor and already I've seen improvements. I had constant itching in my ankles and feet and that has stopped.. and the nerve pain in my toes have stopped also. This is good. I am NOT on…

@macchiatto, pretty much... as soon as I vent about it, something happens, pretty much the way with everything! Patience is not my best virtue. :p
-
Of course the scale moves this morning... down 1lb... I'll take it. :)
-
@GaleHawkins that makes sense... I have T2D, pain issues, the beginnings of neuropathy issues, and I know my liver is none too healthy. I do FEEL better, which is keeping me going... b/c that's worth a lot in and of itself. I am hoping my body is just adjusting and healing and the weight will fall eventually if I stay on…

Yes.. weighing, trying to keep it at 1300Cals... I know I'm in Ketosis, and I feel better, just not seeing the scale move. But I'm glad someone did! :) Hoping it's just TOM issues and nothing else!
-
Currently - 10% Carbs, 25% Protein, 65% Fat - if I'm strict with anything it's Carbs.. but I rarely hit exact marks. I have been under and a bit over on occasion, but not enough to not be in Ketosis, which I am, in spades... so something here is working. :)
-
@retirehappy haha... I have tons of fat on my arm... lol... but sadly, I needs it! (the arm, not the fat)
-
@tcunbeliever - I know re: the protein.. I find it very hard to meet that goal as it is... I get full on protein fairly quickly so I don't get much. I have found that I am not so hungry (esp. now that I fixed the sodium issue) and most meals are hard to eat all of. NEVER thought I'd say that in my life... haha, but it's…

I'm new and all, and I know the blood tester and breath tester is the best way to go, but, I ordered some "Pee on a Stick" Ketosis dohickies - (I'm old, I'm allowed to say DooHickey!) - and I was happy to say I was a nice dark pink and well into Ketosis. It may not be something to rely upon forever, but it managed to put…

I came home and had a good cup of broth... and I already feel better. Just when you think you've done all the research..... :) Thanks folks for pointing the way, I was about to knaw my arm off there.... well, or eat a box of cookies.

Sunny_Bunny.. ooh.. did not know the electrolyte issue, I will check it out. Been feeling light headed so that may be it? It's also possible TOM approaches... so that may also play a part. Thanks!

Hi kilroy02 - I also have PCOS, have had it for many years. I never did Atkins, but I did a whole food low carb thing several years ago that worked wonders - it also reversed Diabetes, and for the first time in a long time, I had a regular cycle and could go off all medications. Like many people with Carb Addiction, I did…

That was a great video to watch... I sent to my husband, who keeps saying "I don't get why you can't just do this (diet) in moderation.." and just goes ahead and eats whatever he wants. He doesn't get why I ask him not to bring chips or chocolate or fast food in the house. I have tried so many times to talk to him about…

I don't feel like I could be 47 but I am (and my back reminds me of this). new to MFP, and LCHF as well. Hello to all :)

Great Video, thanks for posting.

I've had PCOS for many years, the only success I've ever had is on a low carb diet. I did a Low Carb/Low Fat type thing a few years ago with success but it was way to difficult to maintain and I was hungry alllllll the freakin time. Craved sweets constantly. I gained the weight back of course. Now trying the LCHF type…
