  • It might be just me, but I find if I consume more than 1 or 2 things with Coconut or Almond flour in a week, I'll see weight gain or stall. So I'm pretty careful with them and tend to choose my "baked" goods wisely and sparingly. One: it triggers weight gain and Two: baked goods can trigger the need for more "sweet"…
  • The only issue I have with Sardines is that I have to share them with the cats. If I even try to eat them by myself I'll be surrounded and glared at. They can hear a tin opening a mile away.
  • @Steph_Maks Thanks for the link. I was consuming a tiny bit of the bone broth, which had some duck fat in it (when I made it I added duck fat and lots of salt to the broth). Not a ton mind you, so maybe it wasn't enough - or maybe it was just enough to stimulate constant hunger. I figure it's all a big experiment and a…
  • @Steph_Maks thanks for that! I am just now breaking mine, five days in... sadly, but I could not sleep I was so hungry and the headache was too much. Not sure if I did anything "wrong" or if maybe my body just didn't take to a longer fast? Disappointed in myself a bit (trying not to be, five days isn't anything to sneeze…
  • @Steph_Maks can I ask..did you have any weight REgain after your fasting whoosh, now that you're eating again? I don't seem to be holding water, losing weight on my 7 day fast here rather rapidly it seems (though none off my belly where I WANT it to go), and just curious what kind of bounce back I'm going to see once I eat…
  • My pants were quite baggy so I went to buy something new - saw a pretty skirt in the "non" plus size section.. a Designer skirt, and thought "okay, I'll try it on... I doubt it will fit". But it did! So now for the first time I'm sportin' a snazzy "designer label" skirt at work (not that designer label means much, but I'm…

  • Steph_Maks Wasaga Beach! Ahhh.. I remember that... (I'm from Ontario). Nice! That is a most awesome NSV. My goal is to climb these North Vancouver hills and not want to die... lol. I hope I make it there!

  • Good for you for making it to 7 days, that's quite an achievement! I have done 24 hrs once, but otherwise I'm pretty much 20/4 so far. Did it make a difference on the scale or measurements? Again, amazing!
  • @kyucifer I am sure there is science there, but not being a scientist I would not dare to guess. My determination after 3+ mos. of keto-ing, and researching, reading, culling through boards and science, is that the body is NOT a calculator and rarely adheres to calculations, each body likes different things for different…
  • I've found I cannot tolerate too much "carb substitute" stuff, not even nut flours. I can tolerate the fat head pizza with almond flour every other week, or "keto pancakes" every other week, but that's about it. Quest bars and keto bread etc... just either stall me or cause a gain, and I see it immediately or a day later.…
  • laughed out loud, literally. that was awesome.
  • Holy *kitten*.. that article was beyond misinformed. I must be some kind of deviant with my diabetes reversal, inflammation reduction, gut improvement etc etc... lol. Gods, what a piece of garbage that article is!
  • @Steph_Maks WOW! That's inspiring and amazing! I would probably throw up.. lol, but that's a great NSV!!

  • I use Monkfruit Sugar, I was lucky and there was some pure stuff locally. I prefer it to the "Swerve" stuff - smoother and better to bake with, and I use less of it. Does not seem to spike my blood sugar at all. :)
  • I wish I liked the cauliflower stuff, but I just hate the taste and texture of it. Thanks for the responses so far.. hopefully someone who checks blood sugar checks in, I'm interested in other folks results for sure!
  • Date night dinner - Lobster tail, prawns, and veggie fritters (with lots of garlic butter). :)
  • @Steph_Maks I don't know if this helps at all - but 7 years ago I lost a great deal of weight (on what I now know was a lowcarbISH diet), and got down to 190lbs. I too, had lots of loose skin, and I was getting rashes where to skin folds were - it made it uncomfortable to exercise and was really embarrassing. Anyway, the…
  • My goal is to get to a point where I don't feel I have to track - for now, because I am a major Sugar/Carb Addict - I track.. to keep myself on point, but try not to obsess over calories at all. Just the carbs. Still losing also (yay!). I also like the charting of things (my analytical side). But again, my goal is to have…
  • @KnitOrMiss that makes sense, although I do TRY To sleep - sometimes my brain will not shut off despite how tired I am. I'm also an incredibly light sleeper and noise wakes me easily. Makes for a bad sleeping combo (especially with a snoring husband).
  • I have found I sleep pretty solid but wake up at 4am or so and can't get back to sleep. On nights when I can't get to sleep I have tried Melatonin.. but it rarely helps, if anything, it feels like I have a "drowsy window" and if I don't fall asleep in that window then I'm more wired than I was before. I figured the waking…
  • I've been on a work retreat for 2 days. I've been presented with cookies, pastries, chocolate, bread and criossants, desserts, potatoes and loads of alcohol - I have passed on all of it. It's been hard declining and not caving to social pressures to drink and party.. and to have Co-workers wave cookies in my face and laugh…

  • I know for me (and I only speak for me) - I simply do not believe in the whole CICO thing. When I was young, (like, 16), I did not have a whacked out metabolism or hormones, and weight watchers managed to help me lose weight on a lower calorie diet. When I became metabolically disordered, it did NOT matter what kind of…
  • I figure he might be saying stuff you've heard before, but I thought the argument for not obsessing over calories b/c the food we eat is satiating all on it's own, it's HARD to over eat it... obsessing over food, for me, is something I really don't want to do, I'd rather food be a natural process I just do... instead of…
  • I can be a lurker.. I'm fairly new so "lurking" is a way to get the lay of the land - and then I post when I feel I have something to contribute. Most of the time I feel like I'm too new to contribute much of anything. Also - introverted by nature, so observing is far more comfortable for me. Having said that, I appreciate…

  • I do, fairly new to it, but I love access to the interviews/videos etc.. and recipes - it helps keep me on track.
  • Mine is also fairly boring, but it's open :)
  • Congrats!! :)
  • @RalfLott not lifting yet, just using my own body weight for exercise (push-ups, pull-ups, planks etc). My first goal is to get under 200lbs - at which point I can start doing more training/lifting. I have a back injury so I need to be careful (I don't want to end up on a cane again, NOT fun) - and I have had fascioctomy's…
  • @RalfLott - I did ask about when it would be good to come back - he suggested about six months, but it's a personal preference. He gave me a monthly body fat % loss breakdown and weight suggestions.. so I have a 6 month target and will probably go back then. I used to joke that "underneath all this fat is a bunch o muscle,…
  • @FIT_Goat exactly... here I am thinking I should eat 1200 calories a day and if I go over I'll never get to goal... and I find out yesterday I should probably be closer to 1600 calories a day b/c of my lean muscle mass - and to not be scared of eating more (within the realm of keto that is). Better to be healthy and strong…
