I just broke an unplanned 20 hour fast. I enjoyed a large, super nutritious lunch and just wasn't hungry for the rest of the day. I didn't feel hungry and certainly wasn't hangry. The only reason I broke the fast was because I have a minor caffeine addiction and had to have coffee this morning to avoid a headache. I am not ready to give up my HWC in my coffee.8

I went out for a friend's birthday dinner last night to an Italian restaurant. I studied the menu online ahead of time, and chose two possible dishes. When I got to the restaurant and learned my first choice was breaded (which was not stated in the menu) I went with choice number two, had them leave off the lemon wine sauce, sub out the potatoes for extra veggies, and was still able to stay within my macros for the day. Did not even feel neglected as everyone else enjoyed their tiramisu, gelato, and ricotta cheesecake since I was so full and happy that I can make decent choices and still have a yummy meal.16

I have lost in total 10 inches in my waist since Jan 2016. I just drill a new hole when it gets too loose. I figure all that extra leather that isn't needed any more is a reminder. Maybe it is evidence in case I get discouraged.
The day will come when I will buy a new one though.
I do that too. My favorite belt tightened enough now that the end wraps around and faces backward. I punched in 4 extra holes. LOL3 -
I may cry. I bought size 14 shorts today. I wasn't even this small in high school, and I'm 38 years old. Just a few months ago I was a solid 18/20. And these are WAAAAAAY shorter than I'm comfy with, but jiggly thighs be damned! Size 14!!!

I just finished my first 24 hr fast.15

My NSV was being told by a good friend at church that her and another mutual friend had an entire conversation about how much smaller I look! I'll take it and BTW, the scale is not showing that. Just another nail in the coffin of letting the scale dictate your progress!14

Well, I'm not at my goal weight, but I already look better in my goal weight clothes and I feel better too. Am contemplating wearing a dress soon to my dance night. I have a couple great ones and recently purchased a couple of lace shrugs to keep my flapping arms in check.
Now just have to get up the nerve to show my legs, and practice walking in heels again. It's been awhile. Dont want to totter around. If not this week, maybe next week.
That will be an upcoming mini challenge for me.
I really like leaving all the hiding and shame for my appearance behind me in tbe dust, even though it feels nerve-wracking at times.11 -
Ran the Peachtree Roadrace today
Ate no carby breakfast and didn't eat any sugary sports packs during the race.
It felt like any other workout16 -
Today I crossed something off my 'bucket list'... I did the 'Edgewalk' at the CN Tower. This is where you go outside ontop of the observation deck, and walk around the outside of the tower 1160 feet / 356 meters above the ground. See here: http://www.edgewalkcntower.ca
I've wanted to do this since they started in 2011. They obviously have a weight limit, and there's mobility requirements, so back then I just forgot about it, figured it would never happen.
It was exhillirating, exciting, and more than a little vertigo-inducing. But once you're used to it, it's a heck of a view.
They have you stand with your toes at the edge and lean out, they have you lean out backwards, and walk right on the edge, it's pretty challenging. You get about 25 - 30 minutes out there, slowly making your way around the outside of it, and posing for photos of course!
The only disappointment was the orange suits are super unflattering and I hate all the full-length pics because between the suit and the harness, all I can see is my big belly.17 -

I will be in Toronto later this month for work. I am terrified of heights which makes this more appealing as I hate being afraid of anything and therefore look for opportunities to confront those fears. That is a pretty steep price for short notice, though.3 -
Oh my @Steph_Maks! The glass floor was exciting enough for me! My husband and I visited Toronto in 2003. There was so much to see and do. I really enjoyed Casa Loma and the Royal Ontario Museum, Your public transportation is excellent and everyone was so helpful in directing us where we wanted to go.3

Yeah the price is a bit steep, but it's a thrill. You get a couple photos, a DVD, and the ticket includes access to the rest of the tower. Though after walking around the outside, the view from indoors isn't quite as compelling haha!
I used to think I was afraid of heights, but now I'm pretty sure I'm afraid of falling. The height itself doesn't trouble me. Having said that, I will admit the first minute or two I was having a lot of vertigo. By the end though I was totally comfortable. Standing with my toes at the edge leaning over and looking down, admiring the view.
@kpk54 the ROM is one of my favorite spots in Toronto. I haven't been in years, I live about 40km northwest of the city. This was only my second visit to Toronto in a few years.4 -

Actually, @Steph_Maks, even the falling isn't a problem.
The trick is to avoid hitting the ground....

It is the sudden stop at the end that gets you.

A couple of months ago a friend who hadn't seen me recently asked what I was doing because she had commented on how thin I was looking. I had told her lchf. Basically give up breads, pastas, potatoes and rice and enjoy some bacon and eggs. She laughed and said, "no way, bread and pasta is what I live on." Well a couple of weeks later, she had posted on FB that she had gone low carb and had lost 7 lbs. and was excited to continue eating that way and losing more.
When we stopped by her house yesterday, she looked GREAT. She hugged me and said, I gave up the starchy carbs, I feel terrific, my stomach issues have stopped. And she was down 20 lbs. She had lost the bloaty look she had when I last saw her.
She is in the middle of a divorce and trying to figure out when she will be able to retire. So her stress levels had been sky high. She was in a very upbeat frame of mind. She thanked me for being a good example, she would never have done this if she hadn't seen my results. Always feels great to witness a good conversion19 -
My wife had a "med check" appointment with her doctor yesterday for a chronic condition. Her doc asked if she had lost some weight to which my wife said no. However, when she stepped on the scale, she found she was down 10 lbs since the last appointment.
My wife is not LCHF. She is a vegetarian (or carb-tarian). However, over the last 3-4 months, I have gradually gotten her to give up cereal for breakfast and replace it with a cheese omelette. I have gotten her to replace her tortilla chips with black bean chips. We have all but removed pasta from our house. Vegetable and cheese consumption is up. I have gotten her to replace several of her normal snacks with almonds and walnuts.
In short, she has gone from about 70% carb down to about 40-50% carb with the carbs she is eating being much lower from a glycemic index standpoint. Even with just that minor (and gradual) change over the last few months resulted in 10 lb loss that was visibly noticeable by a doctor that only sees her once every 6 months.
I think, based on the conversation last night, my wife may be more than just a little open to a few more of my dietary suggestions moving forward.20 -
Last weekend I went to the beach and I walked to get a coffee and to a souvenir shop in a bikini top and shorts. This weekend I went to the pool and I walked to and from the water and laid out in my bikini. Normally I wear a towel to the edge of the water and then throw it off and jump in so no one will see me in my suit. lol. I still have some stretch marks, cellulite, and a smidge of loose skin on my stomach but it's much improved. I just decided I work out regularly and I eat right, I deserve to feel comfortable in my swim suit!22

Hi Gale, Well I'm some older than you 70 and goin down!! It is great that you are leaving the past behind, me too. Seems it is NEVER to late to love yourself. You're doing great, so keep up the good work. Cant wait till you're a size Medium..........GaleHawkins wrote: »Not popping buttons off my shirt or looking for the Widest booths when eating out is awesome. Down 40 pounds with 35 to go. Even though my weight has not dropped in a while I am still going down in size. Normally by now I would have had regained all that I had lost plus gained more. For me to not to be regaining is a huge victory. Being 64 I fully understand this may be my last shot to recover from some health issues by only changing my eating and moving lifestyle. I do not take any Rx's and plan to keep it that way. Most of you are much younger. Please stay with the low carb way so when you get 64 you will not be trying to pull out of a nose dive at 1000 foot.

Ha! Make that "had to put yet ANOTHER new hole in your belt" @2t9nty ?
I am stubbornly keeping the same belt and it has a 10 inch tongue these days. It was in fact another hole. It is always there as a reminder of things even when the scales or glucose levels have been difficult.
I went for a doctor's appt yesterday, and it seems they rescheduled it for September. I am pretty sure I never was notified of this. My metformin expired with this appointment, so the receptionist said she could get it renewed for me. I was a little irritated.

Well there are many things like my knee joints not aching anymore but having to wear a belt to keep my pants up and moving from the last hole on my belt to the third hole (close to the fourth) are my current NSVs.5
