  • Just pick healthier options at the restaurants, assuming all the food isn't the type of place that covers everything with an inch thick of grease. The more plain it sounds (and shorter ingredient list), the healthier, and by healthy I mean lower calories. For tracking sodium intake, if it's a chain restaurant, you could…
  • Yeah, I also go for 1 g/lb. I just found the article interesting.
  • Wow, I'm dumb. Yeah, I realized that just now. Thanks for that. I'll look at what I post from now on. Hah I meant trial and error instead of empirical. It makes sense if you don't think about it. lol
  • Yes, I'm the same way. I had ice cream and chocolate cake over the weekend, and other really high calorie foods, yet still lost weight. You'll have to track, like others have said and what you said you are going to do. I started tracking and realized it was below maintenance. As a last resort, I'll have a mass gainer…
  • Depends on many things, like bone structure. If you have a small bone structure then any muscle you'll put on will be noticeable, in a good way. So it made me realize weight doesn't really matter, it's how you look (besides being healthy of course). My pic was my most leanest state though, so that's why it was so light.…
  • No one said that was big. That's my goal for this year. I'll then have another goal after that. I don't know how big I can get, but you'd have to take into account bone structure, genetics, etc. It would probably be around 160 at 5-6% body fat, naturally, maybe 170s with a large bone structure. This article discusses that:…
  • I understand you probably won't read that article, but you should. And not "every big guy" eats that amount. The person who wrote that article is big by natural standards (pic below). Well-researched science always trumps empirical evidence. I follow natural bodybuilders and their advice on building muscle and losing fat,…
  • Based on research, there's no benefit past .82g/lb and that's with a mark-up. http://bayesianbodybuilding.com/the-myth-of-1glb-optimal-protein-intake-for-bodybuilders/ Your arms look ginormous though. You on the juicy juice?
  • We can be friends. I don't wash my food either. I grew up in south Texas so Mexican food is popular here. It's my favorite. It's hard for me to gain weight though (had cake and ice cream twice over the weekend and lost weight), so I'll eat anything that's high calorie. Ha
  • Freezing your body to get thin? Funny you should ask, I tried freezing myself in the ice of Antarctica. Must have been year 1810. Didn't work. Woke up the same body fat with strange boats flying in the sky.
  • Nice transformation man.
  • Gee golly, wouldn't want to offend anyone who might give a toot about my ding dang dottily doodling. That's how you curse here I think
  • Feel free to add me if you need help, advice, someone to talk to, etc. I'll add anyone.
  • I've been working out 3 days a week (mon, wed, fri) with weights. 4 rest days. The first year I did push/pull/legs twice a week and took Sunday off. It worked for half the year, then I tried manipulating volume/eating more to try to progress, but it didn't work any longer. The second year I tried working out 5 days a week,…
  • Yeah, consistently low calories isn't fun. Once I plateaued for weight loss, I simply increased calories for the weekend to maintenance level. Low calories for the week. Then I started lifting much heavier weights ( just 3 days a week) and that seemed to help me lose weight faster than ever before. I think it's much more…
  • There's nothing wrong with that. I think Timothy was just saying that dinner, for most people, is the largest/highest calorie meal. Here's a research article on it. It discusses this under the section, "Meals v. snacks in relation to nutrient intakes". https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4501369/ I like chocolate…
  • Well, I was 135 lbs. in my profile photo, a couple weeks ago (never measured body fat % before) <--- 5'8, so pretty close to your height. I'm gaining muscle again though, 'cause I think I should gain more muscle, so it's just a personal preference. And I'm not sure if you're a man or woman, but a guy would want more muscle…
  • Das not it mane. Just ignore emotional responses. I'm new here and I've noticed people here are extremely sensitive on this site, hence the potential for copy and paste response she sent to you. But you shouldn't have replied to her original comment, since women get offended by someone who is younger calling them older…
  • Not just here, but on any website anywhere. Some guys are desperate and will hit up strangers on the internet at random places. That's any site though, from what I've noticed. I'm not really sure what those guys expect when trying to hit on someone who is even across the planet sometimes. I'll accept anyone on here, but…
  • I do this, in a way, even when gaining weight. I'll have small snacks throughout the day and then one large dinner. This is usually five or six days a week. It will be Intermittent fasting, 8 hour eating, 16 hour fast. The big dinner will be anything I want, but is usually healthy... such as chicken, beans, and rice. Some…
  • I'm about that weight in my picture <---- I'm gaining muscle again, but depends on your amount of muscle, if BMI is in healthy range (it is), and if you like to be that weight and feel good at that weight. Otherwise, start lifting heavier like what I'm doing to gain muscle. It comes down to personal preference, so it's…
  • Here's an article about the myth of 1g/lb + for protein intake. There's no benefit past .82 g/lb and that includes a mark up. http://bayesianbodybuilding.com/the-myth-of-1glb-optimal-protein-intake-for-bodybuilders/ When people say "just eat more", they usually have a high amount of fat on themselves, but if the OP doesn't…
  • Yes, but if your BMI is in a good range and you feel and look good, then that particular weight should be fine. People thought my goal of 135 lbs. at 5'8 was too low, but it looks alright to me... which is my current pic. <--- Now it's time to gain muscle. I wouldn't worry about other people's opinions. Your goal weight is…
  • I workout at home so the max weight I have is 205 lbs. I did one rep of that at around a measly 135 lbs., 5'8, about 8% body fat or so, medium grip. I'll be at that weight soon, again. I'll try it again once I'm leaner to see if I can still do that. I wanted to try for two, but didn't want to decapitate myself.
  • Yes, I agree. I noticed I have to remain aware of how much I'm eating once I'm lean during the summer, otherwise, like most people, I'll gain too much fat in the fall/winter. But this year I'll try to be somewhat lean in the winter so I don't have to go through with losing a lot of weight to get to what I 'normally' look…
  • I just googled that article in a few seconds. I'm sorry though. I didn't understand my comment would offend so many. I'm more prone to change when I understand how negative something is. If sugar is bad, I simply stop having as much. I don't overthink things. If they can't/won't/refuse to change, then there's something…
  • That's because I was reading an article that discussed research of the addictiveness of sugar compared to cocaine/heroine. hah Here's an example: http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/health/sugar-addictive-cocaine-heroin-studies-suggest-article-1.356819 It was interesting.
