  • I have a deadline driven job, a long commute, a hectic schedule, and kids. I understand what you're going through. I'm still struggling myself. I hope that you get back on track. Don't lose sight of how far you've come.
  • Hi. If it were me, I'd report the FBG upon rising, even though it's higher.
  • I had gestational diabetes with 3 pregnancies. The first was undiagnosed and my baby's BG crashed after birth, prompting a stay at the NICU. (I gained 25 lbs.) The second was diagnosed early and controlled with diet. (I gained 13 lbs.) The third was also diagnosed early, but I was unable to control it with diet alone and…
  • Me, too. I just came back from the doctor. My A1C was up to 7.4. I need to get my *kitten* together once and for all. :-(
  • I was supposed to start on Farxiga a couple of months ago. I had seen something like this already, so I've been putting it off trying to work on stabilizing BG with changes to diet and exercise. I see fairly good results if I'm good about a low carb diet, but it's still hard for me to follow all the time.
  • Hi. Online, go to My Home, then Check-In. There, you can create new categories of things you want to track, like blood glucose or A1C. Later, to update it in the app, you need to go to Progress, then change the category, and renter your values. Hope this helps.
  • My BG is too high lately. I generally take Metformin first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Since it says to take with food, I wonder if taking it with dinner, or based on this suggestion, a little before dinner, would help. I read that if your BG goes too low overnight, it could contribute to morning highs.…
  • So, the Victoza was giving me tachychardia (accelerated heart rate), but it was lowering my BG. Now I'm on Januvia. My heart rate is back to normal, but I see no beneficial effect on my BG. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I don't lose weight easily. I'm thinking of doing some sort of strict juicing diet to lose some…

  • That is something I struggle with all the time too, finding that middle ground of making meals that are healthy but that also appeal to my family.
  • I find that knowing the calories and macro content of what I eat is very helpful. I also like having the tools to combine diet, exercise, and BG logs. Feel free to add me, if you like, but I do have my food log private.
  • Turns out that shortly thereafter I started my (excuse the TMI) period. This isn't the first time that I notice highs right before that. I wonder if other women have experienced the same thing?
  • 117 at bedtime last night, 242 when I woke up ! ?
  • Started Victoza yesterday. For the first time in a long time it's low enough in the morning to be acceptable, 134, at 5 a.m. I went back to bed after taking my metformin and woke up again at 118. I'm concerned about the possible side effects of the new med, though.
  • I don't have any insights, but I hope you feel better and figure it out soon.

  • 152 yesterday. 172 today. I can't tell you how tired I am of failing to control it. I admit, I could be more careful, but sometimes there's just no good reason for bad numbers, other than you're stuck with this condition.
  • I didn't grow up thinking that I had a family history. I got gestational diabetes that eventually turned into Type-2. After my diagnosis, I've found out that my father and my uncle have developed diabetes, and through some ancestry research, I've found a good number of relatives on their side whose cause of death was…
  • I had started here last fall, but slacked off over the holidays. My next doctor's appointment is in a month, but I don't think that I've made any progress since my last. I'm aiming to get back on track.
  • I wasn't testing often at all for a few months up until about two weeks ago. I went into a period of denial. But now that I'm back to business, I've been testing 4-5 times a day to see the effect of what I'm eating. I've noticed some patterns that I can now address. During most of 2017, I've been under a lot of stress at…

  • I just got my A1C test results back. It was 8.1 (equal to about 211 average). My last one had been 6.7. I knew I'd been running high, but this just confirms how high. I have an appointment next week. I know that the doctor will suggest changing my meds or maybe adding insulin. Right now I only take metformin for the BG. I…

  • This morning at 4 a.m. it was 144. Had some nuts and went back to bed. I woke to 119. I'm learning that my body doesn't respond well to fasting, but I'm still puzzled by this pattern.
  • 128. For me lately, that's a vast improvement.
  • My morning BG tends to be high, too. I've been testing different options and found that, for me, it's best to have a low carb snack before bed and a low carb breakfast. Delaying breakfast made my BG go even higher.
  • So far, two days in a row, my post-breakfast reading has been lower than my fasting after a low carb breakfast. The readings are still high, though, just not as high.
  • 188. Getting frequent highs, even with low carb meals. :-(
  • Too high, 173. I'm running high all the time lately.
  • Welcome. I, too, am looking to MFP to get motivated and make the necessary changes. I can't believe that was diagnosed about 10 years ago already. I've been on Metformin and managing through diet and exercise. During the last year, though, I've been very careless. I hadn't been testing my BG, and I've eating a lot of…
  • I read through this thread last night, and since I'm waking up with high numbers, I decided to try to delay eating to see if I BG dropped. Surprisingly, about 30-40 minutes after waking up, I was super hungry, but my BG had gone up 16 points. Evidently delaying food won't work for me. My next experiment will be eating a…
  • I need to do low carb to control blood sugars. Motivation needed.
  • Thanks for the welcome. I hope to lower my glucose levels to as close to normal as possible. They're not super high right now, but not great either, and I need to lose a few pounds, too. I just bought a Fitbit today in the hopes of motivating myself to move more. I'm definitely not active enough.
  • Hello. Same here. I was diagnosed about 10 years ago. Not doing a good job of managing it. Looking for support.
