Good call out, I hadn't seen that. Just because that poster isn't interested in being healthy, that doesn't mean the rest of us shouldn't strive to be.

What makes you think that anything you are saying is bringing value to this conversation? Just because it didn't kill you doesn't mean it was a wise or healthy decision on your part, and when you try to defend your foolish decisions, it could be encouraging others to make unhealthy decisions as well. So capping your…

And this surprises who? Anyone? Definitely not me.

It always cracks me up when people post something about how confused our bodies get by certain deviations in eating or behavior. When it comes to the processes in our body, there is no thinking involved, therefore there can be no confusion. The idea that our bodies don't know what to do when other foods are introduced is…

I do think it was a fair representation. This is what I was responding to: "Actually it does mean that processed foods are the reason for the obesity epidemic, in that the ready availability of processed, hyper-palatable foods changes the way a large number of people choose to eat. When a behavior is epidemic, what that…

You aren't talking science Gale, in fact most of what you post defies what science has proven. Here are the facts: CICO is what determines weight loss, gain, or maintenance. Where those calories come from don't matter(in the context of weight management only, not talking nutrition). If I eat nothing but processed foods…

I am not sure where the disagreement between us is. I recognize that there are hyper palatable foods readily available now, but I also recognize it is my responsibility control what I consume. The fact that the foods exist doesn't make those foods responsible for making a person obese. It is still ultimately the…

It must suck having to completely exclude so many delicious foods from your life because of paranoia and fear. If the roundup doesn't give you cancer, we will all most certainly become obese, and be turned into carb and sugar addicts, right? Or, instead of going to extremes based on fear mongering, people can actually…

You may have lost weight by eating more food, but your total calorie consumption was without a doubt less. Your whole post is confusing and really doesn't make sense. You didn't eat just once a day if you had lunch and dinner. That's two meals right there. You say you rarely snacked, but you didn't say what you snacked on…

I understand that OP is excited that he found something that works for him, but I also think its a bit premature to call something magic after 11 pounds. I think its way too early to know whether or not this is sustainable. There are a ton of people on here who have sustained weight losses in the triple digits because they…

Exactly this. There is no way I would give up pizza for no reason. Carbs are great for fueling workouts and they make me happy. I couldn't be happy eating on a diet as restrictive as keto especially when the restrictions are unnecessary for weight loss.

The bolded is not true at all. There are examples of athletes who would be considered outliers by BMI, but they are still by far in the minority. Even then, most outliers would be in the overweight category, not obese or morbidly obese. BMI is just a general guideline that holds true for the majority of the population and…

Good point. He clearly can't do keto anymore because its "magic" and he will continue to lose weight no matter how much he eats.

It was the Tonight Dough pint slices. 290 calories of deliciousness. Sure, it has plenty of sugar, but I worked out hard yesterday, had plenty of calories to play with, and it was great for my mental health because it made me happy.

Yep, its me. I am very much a proponent of eating what makes you happy, but doing so in moderation. I had Ben and Jerrys last night because it fit into my maintenance goals(currently working on a recomp). To be honest, I don't stress about much besides getting an adequate amount of protein and making sure my diet is well…

Wait, first you said that it was a recognized diagnosis(its not), now you are saying that medicine is not up to date? You can't have it both ways, so which is it? You are trying to discredit everyone else in this thread and it is making you look foolish. What cracks me up the most is as I was reading through this thread I…

I didn't see anyone advocating for eating lots of sugar, people merely pointed out that sugar is not the devil that the documentary makes it out to be. Focusing on sugar alone sets the OP up to fail which is why others advocated for a balanced, sustainable, diet consisting of everything in moderation. If a cookie or cake…

Oh, so it is all the foods fault, and individuals bear no responsibility whatsoever in their obesity? Thats good to know. I had no idea that there was no such thing as processed foods in the past and they suddenly appeared and made people fat. You say the amount of willpower in America hasn't sharply declined since the…

So Frito Lay wants consumers to buy more of their products. Shocking. It's almost like they are a business or something and are concerned with making money. The study just proves that it is easier to overeat hyper palatable calorie dense foods. Nobody is putting a gun to your head and making you eat them though. Instead of…
-
Exactly. I could put the same amount of calories in Oreo's and milk on one table, and rice on another table, and I would imagine that most people would eat more calories worth of Oreo's because they are more calorie dense, and less satiating. It would be far easier to over indulge on a hyper palatable, calorie dense food.…

Ahhh, I thought that may have been the case, but I wasn't sure. I appreciate the clarification, I wasn't sure if I was missing something or not.

Why would it be better to underestimate if you are trying to lose? That's a sure fire way to go over your calorie goal and doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense to me.

She is not eating 1200 calories. If she was, she would be losing. 1200 calories a day of any food is not going to cause weight gain. This was not a strong first post for you. Maybe you should spend some more time researching legitimate sources before you start commenting, because your advice is not the least bit helpful.
-
There is some serious irony in the bolded section. The problem is, you just admitted that this was your opinion, yet your original post suggests that it is fact. As others have pointed out, there are some very serious flaws in what you are suggesting. If keto works for you, then great, but the reason it works for you is…

Almost everyone in this thread has tried to offer advice related to accurate logging, and your diary still has a ton of red flags. If you really were eating at the calorie totals shown in your diary there is no way you wouldn't be losing weight. Barring a medical issue, nobody should really struggle to consume 1200…

I find it funny that you would come to this conclusion with the limited info that has been given. If she just started dieting, is she still in a plateau in your mind? Going low carb may cut some water weight initially, but if her calories aren't on point then its not going to help a lot in the long run. The fact is, if she…

Lots of different topics get closed but that doesn't mean that the topic itself is discouraged. What is discouraged is being disrespectful of others and I think MFP is pretty clear about that. There have been far more keto discussions shut down than this one, yet the greatest volume of discussion still seems to be about…

Some of us recognize that carb binges are a result of a lack of self control instead of making claims with no science to support them.
