  • My doctor years ago had told me about curing the diabetes with weight loss and I remember having the same disagreement with some others on that old message board. I had lost 125 pounds by healthy dieting, writing everything down on paper, measuring everything and walking. I was told my diabetes was cured. But when i…
  • Hello Everyone. Wow, I love reading your stories. I'm new here about 24 hours or so and I'm prepping for my surgery but will have a duodenal switch. Just by reading I am learning some wonderful tips and info to keep tucked under my hat. One year....Awesome, and congratulations! A lot of people have a negative view about…
  • Wow! Congratulations on your progress weight loss. And to be off your diabetes meds....WooooHooooo! I am so happy for you. To walk for an hour and a half.... awesome! I'm preparing for my surgery and starting some exercise. I can walk only 1-2 houses down my street. I'm starting the 6 week fitness challenge that starts…
  • Thanks for sharing so maybe I can start now adding those vitamins and nutrients to my diet to help prevent it some. I'm getting ready for the duodenal switch in a month or so. Going through the prep now.
  • Awww.... I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sure she'd be happy to know you're trying to make some positive changes in your life. Maybe she CAN see! I can't imagine what I'd do if I lost my mom. I really feel for ya and send some hugs your way.
  • Hi. I'm from Indiana and I'm prepping to have bariatric surgery. I have my psych assessment on Friday. I think I'll be having the duodenal switch. You're experienced so maybe I can learn some things from you. I'll do my best to support you and give you a boot when needed. LOL.
  • You both said you figured it out but neither posted how. Help please. :)
  • I'm new here and I would have the same question. I wear a pedometer religiously and I don't seem to get any credit for my steps. I just add it to my "notes" and give myself credit. LOL. Maybe they will have something like that in the future.
  • I live in Indiana but my son lives in Surprise, AZ. I hate him being so far away. He visited here in December and the year before I went there for 3 weeks over Christmas and New Years. Love that area!
  • I'm new here and looking for friends, too. I hope you'll add me. I haven't figured out yet how to do that. I'm going through the prep process now to qualify to have the duodenal switch. People don't usually gain back weight on this one, or at least not much. It's a risk though and is major surgery. But I just couldn't keep…
  • Attention mjj79 You do what you have to do and that's okay. First check with your insurance company to see how much will be covered and then you'll know more what steps you want to take. I'm going through procedures and doctor visits now so I can get qualified to have it myself. The very first step in my city was to attend…
  • I think I'd like to join this group. I'm new and was skimming the posts on the boards looking to see if there were any Christ followers and I ran across this group. I have lost and gained so much over the years. Once lost 125 pounds. Now at age 63 and a problematic type 2 diabetic, my doctor suggested bariatric surgery as…
  • Thanks, tichondria! I have my psych assessment on Friday and that should be my last thing. Then I wait to make sure the formal pre-authorization comes from the insurance company. Once it is in I start classes and have my physical with their medical doctor and also one by their surgeon. Hopefully they won't find any issues…
  • I'm still pre-surgery but I've been pricing some of the protein supplements. The good ones seem so expensive, but I need to remember that I should have extra spending money since there will be no more stops at Taco Bell or Dairy Queen.
