Went to doctor who scheduled a scan which happened 3-4 weeks later and now the radiologist will contact my doctor in like another 3 weeks so it's a bit of an annoying situation. The smartest thing to do would be to wait another 3 weeks but I feel really good. I went for a 1 KM test jog and it felt great, I might try…

Got new shoes! Nike Zoom Structure 18s. Have not run in a month though. My leg does not hurt anymore but I am scared of coming back too soon and aggravating my injury.

"Mouth breathing is by far the best way to breath while running, largely because it brings in more oxygen than breathing through the nose. It get's better: Forcing air through the nostrils can tighten your jaw and other facial muscles, and tension is never good for running." From a google search with runnersconnect as the…

So I got my watch (Forerunner 235) and to my surprise it was refurbished. However no mention of such on Amazon, it only says new and it was sold by amazon directly which is quite weird. Hmm hmm. Seems to be in perfect condition though. Too bad I can't run with it for at least a week. And maybe 8 if the pain in my shin is…

I think I might have to take a week off and let my IT band heal. Going to be going to the gym and spending time on the elliptical or the bike I guess.

Ran 7.25 km instead of 13 due to my left leg hurting. I hope it's nothing. On a brighter note, I am now under 200 lbs!! 199.7 lbs haha

New, which is why it's a pretty good deal. It was on amazon canada.

10 KM run. Ran my first 3K way too fast (5:45 KM pace) but managed to keep it steady at around 6:00 KM pace for the remaining 7 KM. Felt quite good, a bit tired towards the end but could have kept going, still had enough energy to do the 4x100m strides I forgot to do Wednesday. (Strides are like a 95% sprint that you ease…

I gave in. The Forerunner 235 was 270$ CAD instead of the regular 400$ + on amazon so I bought one. On garmin website they are 450$ CAD. 270 CAD is something like 200-205 USD for my American friends.

10 KM run. 3KM warm-up, 4KM tempo (supposed to be 20 minutes but I went an extra 2 minutes just to get that round 4KM) and then 3KM cooldown. And with that I have official surpassed my goal for this month with plenty of time to go!

Easy 5K run. Was supposed to be 9.5K but I am super tired and I decided to listen to my body and take it easy. Not sure when I should listen to my body and when I should push myself. I'm sure there is a time and place for both but I only had 4 hours of sleep so I think I made the right call.

Meant to run 7.5 KM but stopped after one lap because I was feeling my earlier strength workout and it was oh so humid. I really need to get better at running in humidity. +3.75KM towards my monthly goal.

Tonight I attempted a 5K PR. Did not go as planned, I stopped running at 3.8 KM unable to take it anymore. Walked a bit and then finished the last 1K at a nice 6:10 min/km pace. After 1 mile I was at a 4:42 min/km pace which would have given me a 23:30 finish. At 2 miles I was at a 4:49 min/km pace which gives me a 24:05…

Heck yeah @MNLittleFinn you are inspiring!

10 KM run, was supposed to be 7.5 but I was feeling good. Started off a bit too quick around 5:30 min/km pace but later in the run went at around 5:50 min/km pace which is around what my easy pace should be I think.
-
Good luck @MNLittleFinn we are all rooting for you. Hopefully by the start of next summer I will be the one nervous for my first marathon

Hey this is the chart that I use : http://www.sagerunning.com/downloads/key-training-zones-chart-by-sage-running/ You can download it for free you just need to put your email. Anyway, according to that, easy run is anywhere from 60 to 77%. Marathon is 77% to 82%. An all out 45-60 minute race is in the 82% to 90% so I am…

Long run, 12.2 KM, new long run record! Slowly building up towards lengthening my regular runs from 40 minutes to 1 hour and my long run from 1 hour to something like 1h30.

Ran for the first time using Strava! I just came off of 2 days of rest so my easy run was a bit too fast, I normally run a bit faster than 10 min mile and I was running close to a 9 min mile. I felt great and full of energy though, even if I was breathing just a tiiiiiiny bit too hard for an easy run. +7.75 KM and getting…

Ran an easy 5K. Tommorow is weight lifting I might not run or maybe an easy 3.5K we shall see. I tried using Strava for the first time but my app got stuck on the settings screen and there was no back button, anyone have that problem happen to them? I am talking about the settings screen you get after clicking Record an…

I just got a new phone and downloaded Strava as my first app (obviously). I requested to join the MFP group! Looking forward to using a GPS app while running for the first time later tonight.

7.5 KM run. I was running at my usual pace but it was hot and humid out and my legs while not tired were not fresh either because of yesterdays 11 KM run. I think I am going to smash this month's goal, if I stay uninjured God willing.

I am fasting for Ramadan as well. Weight loss has been going at like 2.5 pounds a week instead of my usual 1.5 pounds a week. I also have upped my running mileage so that could also be a factor. I make sure to eat well when breaking my fast and before starting it. I also drink a lot of water. I pretty much eat the same…

I would imagine that the percentage for aerobic system usage in 5Ks goes down the faster one gets? I can't imagine a 13 minute 5K is 85% aerobic system and a 30 minute 5K is also 85% aerobic system? As for my run, today I ran the furthest and longest I have ever in my 25+ years of living. 7 miles at a steady 10 minute mile…

Wouldn't the answer be to go even slower? And I hope I am not out of place but as you keep losing weight won't your ability to run distance improve as well? I would imagine that the longer distance you run the more impact weight has on your performance. Perhaps you aren't necessarily better at shorter distances, but are…

I don't understand. Wouldn't increasing your speed increase your heart rate and therefore take you out of HM pace?
