  • I found out I'm going to be honored at a banquet next month so time to really kick things into gear. Back at the gym lifting weights for 3 times a week. I know there will be photographers there.
  • I held a plank today for over 1 minute. I know that's not really a long time, but last week I was only doing 15 second planks. Progress!!
  • I've been on this journey since St. Patrick's Day of 2017. I initially lost 58 lbs and kept if off for the most time with some minor ups and downs along the way. This past April I was diagnosed with bilateral knee and lumbar spine arthritis. Getting old sucks. I had been going to the gym 3-4 times a week and was seeing…
  • I started back at the gym at 58 years old myself. I was almost 240 lbs when I started. You can just imaging what I looked like doing zumba. I stuck it out and before I knew it, it was being asked, no told, that I needed to be right up in front along side of our zumba instructor. I was more or less the inspiration story…
  • I injured my knee and back almost 6 weeks ago. I've been feeling kind of frumpy since I haven't been able to do anything at the gym. I was going 3-4 times a week and was really seeing results. Just when I was starting to get depressed, not one, not two, but three of my co-workers gave me compliments on how wonderful I look…
  • Yesterday at my son's college graduation, I wore a new dress with a slip that I haven't worn in years. That slip used to be so tight that I gave up wearing it. Well, when I tried it on it seemed like it was a little bit big, but definitely wearable. Then as I got out of the car (thankfully in a dark parking garage) the…
  • Heading to Daytona Beach, FLA for the US National College Cheerleading Championships in a few weeks. Let's Go Mountaineers (West Virginia University). I want to be able to wear a cute spring/summer dress and look OK in it. Working overtime at the gym to achieve it. Need to loose at least 10 more lbs.
  • Be able to hold a plank for a full minute by the end of the month.
  • Talked to a new trainer today. He got me started on an actual weight lifting regimen. My body is so sore right now, but I'm so proud of that pain. I know I'm doing what I need to do to become healthy again. BTW, I never realized just how long 30 seconds can be when I'm "planking". Ugh. Looking forward to the day when a…
  • OK so this is kind of a scale victory, sorry but after speaking with one of the trainers at my gym, we decided it would be better for me to change things up a bit. So I walked away from zumba and picked up the free weights. I was disappointed when I got on the scale only to see that I gained weight. Then I was thrilled to…
  • After loosing 60 lbs then gaining back 12 lbs over the holidays, I met with a personal trainer who mentioned using free weights. So at 61 years old I tried it and found that I actually like doing strength training. I lost that 60lbs in about 13 months, then stalled for a while, because I got lazy and slacked off on my…
  • After loosing 60lbs and then re-gaining 12 lbs. I met with a personal trainer who got me thinking of weight/strength training. So I got back into the gym a few weeks ago and picked up the free weights. I can't believe it, I actually like lifting and core training. I'm a 61 yo woman who NEVER did this. I was a 3 times a…
  • Awe, thank you so much. I have to admit it, I feel 100 times better now than I did at 40. Especially since I'm currently 61 years old.
  • Down 60 lbs. Lost that in the first year, maintained for the past 10 months. Working on the last 30 lbs now. So far I've gone from size 2XL to Medium tops and size 20 pants to size 12.
  • I just did it using my Samsung Note 4. It works.
  • Picture at left at my heaviest 238 lbs. On right after 60lbs loss. Still have about 20 more to go.
  • First pic is from 2 weeks into my journey at about 235 lbs. Other one after a 60 lbs loss. I still have another 20 to go to get to my initial goal. Apparently, you'll have to click on "Screenshot" to make it bigger. Sorry, I had trouble posting the photo.
  • I want to loose another 20 lbs by April. Going to Daytona Beach for the National College Cheerleading Championships to see my daughter in her very FINAL cheer competition. Been cheering her on since 2004!
  • I work in a hospital were we have to sometimes wear disposable isolation gowns. I used to have to tie the strips behind my back, but now I find that I can actually wrap those ties all the way around my waist and actually tie them together in the front! I think that's how they were originally designed.
  • I'm 61 years old and have lost 60 lbs. I was really good with following my calorie allotments from MFP. I stayed within those limits as often as I could. Yes, I strayed sometimes, hey, I'm human but I knew on those days I just had to do better the next day. I never beat myself up. Portion control, portion control! I…
  • I noticed that my 21yo daughter left a pair of pajama pants home after she left for college. After about 3 months, I got tired of looking at them just sitting there folded up serving no purpose. So for haha's I tried them on. O-M-G, they fit so guess who just inherited them. FYI, she said she didn't want them anymore.
  • For the first time in over 25 years my heel spur has started acting up. Which means I have to stay off of it for a bit. No zumba for me. Noooooo. That's my go-to exercise three times a week. So instead of getting depressed, I opted to get to the gym and actually do some strengthening on the circuit. Ooh my aching body, but…
  • Today I was running late for work and grabbed the first pair of scrub pants that matched my top. When I got into work, I realized that was a huge mistake. Those scrubs were my old size 18 (XL) and were literally falling down. I'm currently wearing a size MEDIUM. Luckily, I had a pair of medium Operating Room scrubs in my…
  • OMG, I forgot all about checking my BMI chart. I'm actually, finally in the "HEALTHY" range. Oh happy day!!!!!!
  • My boss who hasn't seen me in months, walked past me today. I said hello. I even said his name, but he looked at me with such a blank stare. He really had no idea who I was. Ok, so I now have a new body (lost 60lbs), new hair cut (super short), new eyeglasses (purple frames after 20 yrs of gold rims), and new scrubs (was a…
  • Today I found a dresser drawer full of scrub tops from 2 years ago. I tried one of them on and I'm "swimming" in it. Time to take apart and remake them. I was a size 2XL now I'm wearing medium!
  • I found a great app called All Trails and was able to try out a few new places to walk. During one of those walks, I missed the markings on the trees so I wound up taking the wrong trail. All was good because instead of doing a 2.8 mile walk, I wound up doing a 3.37 mile walk. Woohoo! Surprisingly, I was thrilled by the…
  • While on vacation in Philadelphia, I stood at the base of the steps to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. That's the steps that Rocky Balboa/Sylvester Stallone ran up in his movies. Well, this 60 year old woman decided on a whim, "I bet I can run up these too". So off I went, bounding up 72 steps without even getting winded.…
  • These are all great tips. I've always wondered how to post my activities working in the garden. I do it regularly. Thanks everyone.
