9 months update. Been following Raj on other social media and he has provided me with some encouragement while prepping. After my last update October 2018, I decided to compete in men's physique. I started my cut Feb 25, 2019. I started at 192.5lbs with a goal in my head of needing to get to 159lbs for August 10, 2019. I…

from MFP yesterday lunch time... skip the turkey and add soem more cottage cheese if you don't want so much protein. I use fat free sour cream or fat free cottage cheese mixed with salsa as my only salad dressing.

Everyone's goals are different but you and I seem to have very similar ones. My personal opinion is give your body a break and at least increase macros to maintenance for a week or 2, or so :) Don't make it an excuse to gain a lot of fat, do a lean bulk so you can still work on those abs. I am almost 48 now and I find I am…

Looking good, half_moon. Inspiring. Keep up the positive change.

Thank you for the update Raj and looking forward to seeing what you've accomplished when you're ready to share. For those asking "how did he do it".... there is no magic potion (to reiterate what Raj has said before), the right combination is obviously knowing what food intake you need, but you have to make a lifestyle…

Plateaus are normal and cortisol does effect your metabolism (no I am not an expert and have no sources to quote right now, but it is easy to research). Also do a little digging on set-points to see how your body fights you on weight loss sometimes. Doing things like having a diet break, not crazy binge eating, but not…

Thanks Raj. Still looking for an update from you too... You are the OP for this thread afterall 😎. Quick update from me... Just under 183 lbs now...

I buy all my whey protein from myprotein.com. it is hands down the best tasting in all flavours for a pretty clean whey... Clean meaning little fat and carbs. The only flavour I don't like is cinnamon roll because it's really sweet. Rocky road, double chocolate mixed together is my favourite but they're good alone too.…

Technically you've lost 115 then!

Nice work! How long did it take to lose that Gretzky? If you aren't a hockey fan, that's 99!

I am grinding away. Metabolusm is slow right now and I am at pretty low macros. 165 protein, 145 carbs, 34 fat. Those macros aren't for everyone and trust me I've been slowly decreasing them. I'm about 1 to 1.5 lbs lost per week.

Quick update... 189lbs now... about 15-17 lbs more before October 29th I hope... going to be a grind. Any other 50 year olds out there who can inspire me like Raj (o.p.) to get me through this cut??? Love seeing everyone's progress... challenges me.

Nice work, keep it going

Hey Raj, thanks for asking and sorry for the very late reply. I took a diet break and bulked for about 21 lbs which took me to about end of April this year. I am back working with my coach and we are doing a 22 week show prep but not sure I will be elan enough to compete... all about the process. I went from 212 lbs in May…

in 24 weeks of IIFYM flexible dieting and hard work in the gym. I'm 47 and went from 238lbs to 188lbs. That's about 1.8 lbs per week on average. I eat pretty well whatever food i want including smarties, sour gummies, pizza, pb&j, etc. barely eaten a veggie or done any real cardio in 6 months. Just recently added a few…

With any good routine, it involves the proper exercises with proper amount of reps per body part per week as well as muscle confusion at intervals. I suggest finding a good trainer (I can suggest a great online trainer I use(d) via PM if you like) if you aren't quite following what i'm saying. Oh and of course, it involves…

Nice work everyone! Just turned 47 last weekend. Left is me in March 2017, right is me now (well 3-4 weeks ago)
-
Start = 238 Today = 188
-
I've still got a layer of fat to shed; hoping I can make it happen in the next few months while keeping the muscle built up
-
Nice work!
-
Lost 47 lbs so far (while packing on some solid muscle). I have a trusted online trainer who has done my nutrition and lifting schedules for me.
-
Not since 2001. Took some getting back into it, but regular routine now. The body is a pretty crazy machine. Can undo yrs of abuse in just months.
-
Nice Work, Raj. Trying to get there myself. Tough when you're almost 50, but doable! This took me 24 weeks, so hoping another 24 weeks gives me same results you're seeing.

Before (March 15, 2017) After (October 30, 2017)

first 3 months = 25lbs next 3 months (as of today) = 47lbs. 1.8 lbs per week average. ... just IIFYM and hard work at the gym along with my trusted online trainer. 5-10 more lbs to go before I hit my life insurance broker up again, so i can afford the crazy premiums. 50lbs ago I could not continue to afford my coverage.

My personal favorites... MyProtein Mocha, natural Vanilla, Strawberry, Cookies and Cream. I also really like the new Nestle Boost protein. Only drawback to boost is the small containers offered, but I guess the target audience is old folks! Personal taste of course but the MyProtein Whey I find way too sweet is the…
