Because processed white bread has a lot of calories and little nutritional value. I wouldn't say it is bread that is demonized but white bread. Whole grain breads are a different story.

I don't feel it takes away from the enjoyment of food, but rather helps me enjoy it more. It helps me learn to make better choices and makes me think twice about what I am choosing to eat.
