Photo is at my approximate goal weight, taken a few years ago. I'm not quite there yet ;) Thanks all! That's a good idea to check the pharmacist - I wouldn't want to weigh more than once a month or so, so paid services are fine, within reason. I just searched this, and it looks like they MIGHT have one in one of the Boots…

I have no friends or relatives nearby, haha! (Just moved up to Scotland from England).

Dress I'd had for years (which I wore to graduation) was visibly too tight, especially at the back. My face also looked tubby and in some of the photos I looked vaguely pregnant. I think I was really disappointed that the photos of that day had to be so bad. I did get this amazing edit out of it, though (sadly, our cat…

Isn't blood only like, average 5 mM glucose? I'd expect more protein in there...

The pepsi probably isn't too good for your teeth if you wanted to get really technical about it, but I generally agree...if you're getting enough nutrients and meeting your calorie or macro goals, why the *kitten* not?! I'm also extremely pro-GMO.

That's definitely a good point, and I'm glad you pointed it out - there are a tonne more rituals than just counting, of course, and I experience a lot of those as well...OCD is as varied as it is weird. I'm sorry I came off a little defensive, I just find it frustrating when people characterise their normal, controllable…

I totally understand where you are coming from - I have recovered from bulimia and am still VERY VERY tentative about counting calories. People here can be a bit militant about weighing every last gram, and while that method will probably lend the most success, you have to be gentle with yourself and consider your mental…

I can basically handle a cup of coffee beforehand, but anything else puts me at risk of a panic attack (and all the other wonderful symptoms that come with anxiety). Might be worth discussing with a doc whether you can try the pre-workout at something like 1/4 of the usual dose, and work from there...?

'mixed' personality disorder (lol), ocd, and anxiety here...just muddling along. you aren't alone. if you search the groups, there are some for people with psych issues who are losing weight (I think one is called The Mixed Nuts? haha). they aren't very active, but I figured it would be useful to some people here.

the things you're describing are not OCD lmao...OCD is a crippling mental illness hmm half my post disappeared, editing to add: my actual OCD makes me do 3 sets of 4 reps (and sometimes repeating them over and over) because I have an issue with uncontrollable counting, so...thanks, brain????

Could be diet, could also be sweat if it's on your body and you don't shower immediately afterwards. YMMV but I know some people have had success with low percentage tea tree body washes.

Yeah, absolutely. As long as it was environmentally more friendly than actual meat. I tend to be very pro-GMO and often anti-organic, though.

Even the Snapchat filters don't hide how chubby my face is. I think that was the real 'hit' lately. but I've been wanting to get back into it for ages, just needed to do it healthily...

no, I never addressed it. they knew I had an ED (and other MI issues) for...obvious reasons, but eating disorders make you very secretive and introverted in my experience, so it wasn't something that was up for discussion. There are other various issues as well (like my mum's own MI) that make it hard to talk about, as…

Ignoring the sickening NHS privatisation du jour, no, the NHS should not make money from it. Not sure if you can donate privately. AFAIK It goes to the NHS and they'll give it to whoever needs it in hospitals, and the recipient would not be charged. Labs also use it (e.g. for feeding bloodborne parasite cultures) but I'm…

Nah. My mum used to suggest to me that I was tubby/overweight/ate too much, and I developed an eating disorder. She told my little sister, too, who was overweight until recently - guess who has anorexia now? Even if you're trying to help, it can have really devastating consequences. That said, I do feel that parents have a…

You can just say 'I have a plan that has been working for me, but thanks'. No further explanation needed. If they push you further than that, you can explain that you already lost 100 lbs (congrats, btw!) without help. Honestly, though, they don't deserve an explanation. If you want to snarkily shut them down, that is…

do you have a specific recipe that you wouldn't mind sharing? I'd LOVE more cheesecake in my life... also, a surprise for me was mushrooms. I often cook them without much (if any) oil, so to see they have between 8-30 kcal/100g was a pleasant surprise.
-
But they're low calorie! ;)

Just weight and BMI can be misleading in some cases, e.g. where people have very high muscle mass. I recommend taking some measurements and looking at other common health metrics like hip to waist ratio, or estimates of body fat percentage (these are typically pretty crude, but may still be a useful guideline) to assess…

IIRC increasing your calories sometimes have the effect of increasing acne (or perhaps it was the other way around, that short term calorie reductions can reduce its incidence). Either way, it should level out. I don't know what you're doing skincare-wise, but if you aren't already using one, a BHA or AHA (or both) after…

I don't change my diet, at least deliberately. If I feel like eating less, I will, but usually I'll just forget about it and stick to my calorie goal. When I was struggling with disordered eating, I would go through starve-binge-purge cycles, so it's really important that I don't associate starvation with binges lest it…

This thread has gone waaay off the topic of body positivity...surprised it hasn't been nuked yet.

I went over my calorie allowance yesterday, having eaten with the intention of going for a run (including half a tub of frozen yoghurt...). Ended up getting a migraine and passing out before I could do that. :(

Alpha-arbutin is better for fading sun spots - AHAs and BHAs are more exfoliants than anything (BHAs in particular are good for acne). Niacinamide and azealic acid are also good for over-all skin brightness. If you do use AHAs and BHAs, use sunscreen with them, or you will worsen the problem.

I wish we had Halo Top here! For those in the UK, the Waitrose chocolate frozen yoghurt is pretty good. The macros aren't like Halo Top, but it's still only 445 kcal for the whole tub.

I do this too! Sometimes answers to chemistry problems come to me in my dreams. Unfortunately, often it is after I need the answer...

I dreamt about being raped, again. ;_; It's not something I've ever experienced, thankfully, but I have a lot of nightmares about it. Hate it.

sorry dude, that's *kitten*. take a look at some of the recent YouGov polls, for example, - the NHS is massively popular. The people you have seen complaining are not necessarily representative. The main issue most have with the NHS at the moment is its de-funding and privatisation which are crippling its function.

I really think it is something to do with the eating disorder. I am more in control of my hunger cues now (4 years recovered, bulimia), but getting hit with sudden, ravenous HUNGER still occasionally happens. I don't think people quite understand that it isn't just 'having an appetite', it's a huge, sudden, consuming urge,…
