@amymoreorless congrats on your HM, and glad you got home safe. Always wanted to go to the Texas Hill Country, but haven't got there yet. 11.25 miles this morning. Was not prepared for 100% humidity, 62F, zero wind. So didn't take any water, and only grabbed 2 Gatorade chews. So I struggled, even going slow. Had to cut it…

Congrats on your race @martaindale!

110% Agree

To give you another data set: I too have a hard time getting my heart rate up significantly. Normal easy runs are about a 120 BPM. Resting HR is in the very low 40's. Granted, I don't do a lot of speed work, so my average run is usually at an easy effort (9-9:30/mi). The last 'race' I did was a 15K a few months ago.…

Hey @RunsOnEspresso glad to hear from you! @mbaker566 really sorry you are sick. Terrible timing. Wasn't a planned run, but did 9.2 miles this evening because 80% chance of rain all day tomorrow. And since I wasn't planning on running today, I did some lifting (for the first time since before Christmas) yesterday and was…

@rusgolden huge congrats on your 10K PR and 1st place AG! 48:06 is an impressive time!

May have shared this before, but this is the medal rack my daughter made me for Christmas last year. Many of the shorter races I run in don't give out medals for some reason (I could show you a picture of my closet filled with all the racing t-shirts, but nobody wants to see that :s ). Proudest of the medal on the far…

9 miles this evening. It was a Great run! Effort felt easier than Monday, but was :35/mi. faster. Even with 18mph sustained wind.

Whew..first time I read that I thought your dog was run over halfway into your run! I have always been slightly dyslexic. Glad the new shoes are working out. @katharmonic Great job getting 90% across those monkey bars! Your strength training is working! @amymoreorless I agree with @PastorVincent regarding tapering. You…

Happy birthday @Elise4270! Love the kick-a** pic @katharmonic! Thank you @Mobycarp and @shanaber for your comments and insight! I definitely am going to up my protein (and calories) a bit. That might even have me being less grumpy! Well, we'll see.

8.5 miles this evening. Such nice weather, didn't want to stop. Started with 1xWU, 7xEasy, 0.5xCD. Never really tried a true cool-down jog. Felt pretty good. Thanks again everyone for answering the monthly question. I am just going to reduce my carb intake, but just be smart about it. Try to increase protein (and calories)…

@rheddmobile I don't know, that just what a day works out to be. I don't consciously restrict calories per se, just try to eat responsibly. I am on the smaller side of a 'good sized male' (5ft. 4in., 128 lbs.) But as I age, the gut expands :s

Thank you ALL very much for the monthly question input (@elise4270,@rheddmobile,@avidkeo,@eleanorhawkins,@noblsheep,@Squish815,@quilteryoyo,@7lenny7,@kgirlhart)! I 100% agree that cutting out an entire food group is not realistic, at that is not my desire. I just want to significantly reduce the amount of processed food…

I'll go ahead and pose a group question. It may have been asked before, but at least not recently that I know of. As I have admitted recently, I am addicted to carbs. :( So in that vein, I am wondering... How many of you have Keto or low-carb lifestyle? How has it benefited (or harmed) your running / day-to-day life?
-
@7lenny7 that is awesome. @AlphaHowls that is in-human!
-
@amymoreorless great job doing 18 miles two days in a row. You can't see me right now, but I am literally bowing down to you!
-
I'm a little behind on my yearly goal, so I will bump up a little and say 105 miles. I also want to try running more than 3 days a week....but I probably won't.
-
Great run @7lenny7!
-
Ugh @lporter229 that sounds like a miserable experience. Hope you are warmed up by now! Makes my run sound like a nice walk in the park. 13.1 this afternoon. Winter decided to blow back into town today..literally (50F 25mph wind/40mph gusts). This of course also meant the return of white fingers (yes mom, I had gloves).…
-
@amirahdaboss woah, from the picture it is amazing that you weren't seriously hurt. Hope you heal quickly. And I would bet money that kid was on his phone :s 😠 When will people learn?!
-
@7lenny7 glad you were looking out. That is hilarious that you scared the *kitten* out of that driver. Good for you! Speaking of "I forgot to mention".... On last night's run I crossed a busy street, and about 5 seconds after I got to the other side I saw a squirrel starting to cross too. Cars were barreling down the road,…
-
@garygse have a good 3-day weekend! Rest up, hydrate, abd you'll be back to 100% by Monday.
-
@KatieJane83 Welcome back! I too had two years in a row of failed marathon training. But the third time was the charm...got my 1st marathon done this past January. So I know how you feel, and I know you will get it done this time!
-
9 miles last night. Goal was to try to get to an 'all-day-long' pace. Didn't really have a clue as to what that was going be as it was pretty warm and windy (75F 18mph). Added to the excuses: didn't sleep well, back hurting in a few places, wifey trying to give me her cold, rough day at work. So excuses aside, I set off…
-
@polskagirl01 Very cool running art. Seeing a herd of wild boar beat all my wildlife sightings. Glad you stayed safe! @MobyCarp Sooo sorry to hear about your injury! I know that feels like a punch in the gut. Seems that kind of came out of nowhere. Take the time you need to heal. You are one of the top runners around, and…
-
@HonuNui I'm so sorry for you and your friend. Huge hugs going out to you, your friend, and anyone who has had to suffer the loss of a child. Heartbreaking :'(
-
@lporter229 I agree with @Mobycarp. You just proved to yourself this weekend you are ready. So start resting, tapering, and getting your mind ready. Cmon, you qualified for Boston! Be proud! Be confident! You got this!
-
8 miles this evening. Was a nice run, but had a few hiccups...Got my replacement Bluetooth headphones, and they were fine for about 2 miles, then mid-song they stopped pairing with the phone. Couldn't get them paired again, so no music for the last 5 miles. Suspect they were fighting my watch for pairing rights, but…
-
@mbaker566 great job on your 20 mile run! I too use the Gatorade energy chews. Those are the only thing I have found that doesn't give me any gastric issues. I actually end up sucking on them for several miles just to keep my throat from getting dry.
-
@PastorVincent - House fires are indeed dang scary! So glad it turned out ok. @MegaMooseEsq - Congratulations on your PR!
