I attend group therapy twice a week for anxiety and depression, and sometimes the counselors think my weight loss is the result of depression...they often ask me if I am eating enough. One down side to losing a lot of weight is that sometimes you are one of the fittest people at the gym, and people treat you differently,…

Well, I found something new. I live in a food desert and can't find those little Ghirardelli chocolate squares that I like, otherwise I'd grab one before my workout. But I found boxes of small thin mint cookies (like York Peppermint Patties - only 3.5 grams of fat per serving and they hit the spot. It's not the sugar I…

I will also add, though, that weight training (which I do 20-30 minutes of 3-4 days a week) will cause you to burn more calories, so perhaps that is why I lost more weight than expected.

MFP might be generous on the calories burned, but I've been following their recommendations and staying within limits and lost a ton of weight, at one point being nearly too thin. My goal was 125 pounds and a size four and I actually had to eat more to keep from going down to a size 2 and 120 pounds or less. So the…

I reached my goal weight a few months ago, and found that I was still losing weight with my old routine. So I've cut my cardio from 50 minutes four days a week to 30 minutes 3 days a week, plus a few sessions of strength training, one yoga session a week and a lot of walking. We'll see how it goes. Trying to add more…

I recently hit the sixty pound mark and am approaching my goal, and I have the same dilemma sometimes. The diet and exercise changes your appetite. Some days I am just not hungry. I decided to listen to my body and just eat when I'm hungry. Not listening to my body is what caused me to gain weight.

I used to do strength training after cardio, but I found that I was too tired from the cardio and would cut my strength session short, or sometimes skip it. So I switched to doing strength training first, and it's worked out well for me. I feel energized for the cardio, and it's nice to just go home after the cardio. Since…

I donate magazines I'm done with to the communal rack. I *hate* when people walk up to the rack right after I put a new magazine on it, and walk out of the gym with it.

So the last two times I've been to the gym, I've done weights first. It seems to be working better for me. I did weights for ten minutes, then 45 minutes of cardio, then ten more minutes of weights. Often when I do cardio first I just go home and skip the weights, and by breaking it up, I'm doing my full workout with no…

Thanks for your input. I'll see how I feel tomorrow. I think I'll start with a strength training routine.

Excellent work. Patience pays off.

I've been eating pasta - 2 servings a day - and I am still losing weight, although slowly. I only eat it on days I work out. Also, I chop up 2 cups of spinach, saute it and throw it in the pasta - the vegetables fill you up, and spinach is delicious with Italian herbs.

Thanks for all of the input!

I have lost about forty-five pounds in the past year. Like a lot of people, losing the first twenty was nothing. But after that, there were a lot of plateaus. I was stuck at 150 for the longest time, but all that time, my measurements were visibly shrinking. I must have been gaining some muscle because I do strength…

I always wipe down the weight machines, but I also put a towel down when I am using them. As for the cardio, my gym provides disinfectant and paper towels for that, and of course I use them every time. Frankly, I think it's just good manners to clean the machine after cardio - and I always see people who don't wipe the…

I had always been relatively fit and trim, but I had a long illness that left me in bed for long periods of time, and I ate a lot of take-out food like pizzas, subs and Chinese. I got better and decided to celebrate my health by getting fit again and losing the weight and cooking from scratch again. I have lost almost 50…

Starting is the hardest. I am convinced it is an addiction. I avoid fast food places now, and when I do go, I get a side salad and water or unsweetened iced tea. You do get used to a new diet, but you have to get passt the sacrifice period. Once you're through it, you'll lose the taste for all of that food. You could try…

I listen to a lot of goth and industrial dance music. I particularly like the "Funky Alternative" series. I used to go to alternative clubs and dance. I'm too old for it now, but I feel like I'm dancing when I'm on the elliptical.

There is a group for vegans here called "Happy Herbivores". You should join us! You'll make a lot of new vegan friends there and see what they are eating. I have lost 40 pounds since going vegan last year. I definitely feel better. I love passing a hot dog or fast food place knowing they have nothing for me to eat there -…

I went vegan last September and have lost forty pounds so far.

Stationary bike because I can watch Netflix and the time flies!

I don't eat them back. My appetite has decreased since September when I started my current weight loss program. I find that I am used to eating fewer calories, and I don't crave carbs like I used to. I think you can wean yourself off sugar & salt & fat. I drink a lot of water and eat a cup of grilled vegetables or a…
