  • Current weight 130.8 goal by Christmas 120ish. Ha! Mostly I just want to fit back into my skinny jeans.
  • My goals this week: 1. work out 6 days out of 7 2. Make at least two of those workouts to include strength training 3. Stay within net calorie goals 4. Be in the Word daily.
  • Multiply the calories in a serving size by 10 and divide the answer by 8.
  • Desk job here too. Luckily I have a standing desk so I'm not sitting the whole time. I get up at 4am and get 60-90 minutes in prior to getting to work at 7am. When I work at 9, I get up at 5:30 or 6. I just feel so much better when I start my day getting my exercise in first thing. Sets the tone for the rest of the day. I…
  • Pick me! Pick me!!
  • He said he'd "been BACK into running" Hence the assumption that he has a history of running...
  • I put strength training under circuit trading and yes it is found under cardio. They don't include it elsewhere because it's impossible to enter a standard for this because everybody's workout and burn are so different.
  • ^^This is just so wrong! All research shows that staying active is essential to good health and to maintaining that health through aging. I work either a 7-4 shift or a 9-6 shift and I MAKE time in the morning because my intent is to be healthy. You will always find time in your day to do what you believe is a priority. I…
  • Totally agree with MeanderingMamnal on this one.
  • Obviously, whatever you add into your training has to be gradual, but this person is not new to running. They are up to 4 miles means they had a pretty good base to begin with. There's a lot to be said for muscle memory. Speed work is not hazardous to your health! It just has to be done sensibly and added in gradually. I…
  • I think the extra weight makes a huge difference. I'm not saying that if people are heavy that they shouldn't run, but it is obviously more stress on your joints. If walking is giving you that results and satisfaction that you desire without the pain, them I would stick with that. As you continue to lose weight, keep…
  • How old are the shoes, btw? If the cushioning is worn down, that can also cause issues. Being both in the PT and running store biz, I feel like the advise that getting your fit checked was totally irresponsible. Whenever I look for a health practitioner, I make sure to go with someone who is either a runner or has…
  • Google Hal higdon marathon training tips and/or 1/2 marathon training plans. So much good info on the internet. It's all out there!
  • There are so many factors that could affect your run. Are you wearing the right shoes? Are you more than 20 pounds overweight? Is your form correct? Etc. if you are only raising your bpm by that amount, (running vs walking) and you are having no pain with walking, then the speed your going is probably not that much faster…
  • Lots of good advise here, but the old adage "You have to run fast to run fast." Is true. Adding speed work to your running plan is essential to getting faster and it doesn't take anymore time than doing your routine running workouts. Google Hal Higdon and see if you can glean anything from his website. Farleks and hill…
  • I didn't read through all the answers, but I'll give you my suggestion. I am a former ultra-marathoner and have worked at a running store, I also manage a physical therapy office just to share my credentials lol! The first thing to check is whether your shoes are large enough. They absolutely MUST be 1/2 to 1 whole size…
  • I build snacks into my meal planning. I have a cup of coffee and a kind bar almost every day. (it's actually a generic kind bar from BJ's) I also like skinny pop and of course carrots and celery on the veggie side. But I really do look forward to my kind bars. They feel like a treat and I do t feel deprived. I am only…

  • I love the juice plus complete chocolate shake mix. Tasty good, 13g of protein, but add a few more grams when mixed with almond breeze. It has stevia in it, so if you are allergic to ragweed stay away from this one.
  • I created a separate meal for all my supplements and put it under the custom category of supplements. You can add categories, like "morning snack" or whatever and you can add 2 more categories or rename the ones that already exist. Saving the supplements as a meal truly helps!
  • ^^true that. I can't recall which features were not available with the free version, but bottom line is, if you save your daily supplements as a meal or simply track which ever supplement you take (you'd be surprised how many come up when you scan the labels!) you can keep track of them. You can also save your supplements…
  • You know you can manually enter the scan code, yes?
  • Short answer: yes. I have premium and have made my supplements a "meal" you can customize what nutrients you want to track. Try the free trial. You have 30 days to decide whether it's worth $50 a year. It is to me... added bonus, no ads except for UA ads on the various blogs.
  • Hey Kimberly - another mother of 5 here! I'm not too great with the format that's being used here, so please forgive me if I've already posted something similar! I tried to edit and I think it was a colossal fail! Anyhow, I've gotten back into calorie counting and find it very helpful. Used to be a Diet Coke addict too!…
