  • I find I do better if I buy "frozen desserts" instead of a 1/2 gallon of ice-cream. Ice cream bars, ice cream sandwiches etc. Then I go out to the freezer and get just one. It helps that my big freezer is in our detached garage (sometimes I'm just to lazy to walk out there. LOL) . I never keep ice-cream in the freezer in…
  • Since you're already lifting you might check on the Eat More 2 Weigh More threads. They don't put as much stress on cardio and more on lifting. You might also find out you can eat more than 1500 cal/day. I did and I have found it to be much easier and I'm still losing weight. Not as fast, only about 1/2/week, but for me…
  • Thanks everyone. I do think I'm going to focus on some lower body resistance training since that doesn't seem to bother me like upper body does. Going to continue on with the upper body I'm doing and just gradually add more weight. One of the things I've read about fibromyalgia is that often times it is the repetitive…
  • Thanks for your reply. I've been working on the protein goals for several years and have that down pretty well. I climb about 4 flights of stairs everyday. That with the biking has kept my legs pretty toned, will try resistance band for my upper body.
  • BTW--WOW, JUST WOW! 49 and getting your black belt. My husband is 48 and will be testing for his black belt in Sept. One of the things he does is eat a small, high protein snack about and hour before Karate practice. Usually half a BP&J or maybe 1/2 a grilled chicken breast with a few whole grain crackers. Then he eats…
  • I already wear orthotics to help with the PF. I wish mine resolved itself that quickly. I've been battling with it now for about 6 or 7 years. I wore cheap little flats with no support in them for years and that's probably how I jacked up my feet. I went from the girl with 40 pairs of cheap shoes to the girl with 6 pairs…
  • Are you eating because you are bored at work? Or are you avoiding a task you find daunting? Could be you're using your food as an avoidance tactic. I've done that before. I don't want to tackle this report, so I'm going to get a snack. Are you sure you're eating a big enough breakfast? Maybe you need to add a handful of…
  • My company gave me my reward. If you hit 4 of 6 benchmarks on a biometric screening(stuff like weight, waist measurement, blood pressure, cholesterol) you get an $80/month discount on your insurance premiums. If my husband and I both pass, that's basically a $160/month raise for us.
  • If you like them, mangos, always help me out in that department. I have to be careful not to eat to many of them or I get the back door trots (as my grandma used to say)
  • No. My husband has fragrance allergies and certain fragrances cause him to have an instant headache that will last the rest of the day. We don't go to movies, the theater or malls because of the fragrance thing. Be considerate. Just because it smells good to you doesn't mean it smells good to everyone.
  • Thanks for all the replies. Have set my goal at 1600 calories a day and I feel a little hungry, but not ravenouse like at 1340. Hoping that by next week I can cut another 200. Haven't lost any weight yet, but I'm still encouraged.
