Yes, the FitBit uses your resting heart rate vs. your active heart rate to determine the calories burned. So if you casually stroll around the house for 10k steps you'll burn fewer calories than if you briskly walked those 10k steps. However, I have read that it can take several weeks for a new FitBit to "get to know you"…

It seems like your calorie goal is reasonable. When you select Sedentary, it truly means people who sit all day and don't move much. MFP calorie goals are calculated before exercise, so when you do some you should log it, then eat back at least a portion of those calories. I know you said you didn't do anything intense,…

When you eat quite a bit under your calories (on top on not eating back exercise calories) it's not going to hit you that day, but it will catch up to you the next day or two. Especially since you have a history of these crash symptoms you should really be careful that you're eating enough while maintaining a healthy…

This just takes me right back to childhood memories of watching my parents eat them straight from the can on saltine crackers...

Vanilla Hold the Cone ice cream, Sriracha potato chips (for my husband), chicken potstickers, pear gorganzola champagne salad dressing, greek yogurt, and their specialty raviolis. Mmmmm, yum. I might have to make a trip today :p

Ahhhhh, this is what negative adjustments look like. Good to know.
-
I would enjoy my vacation and then get right back on track with logging as soon as I got back. Life is to be lived :)
-
And the better news is - you consumed fewer calories than you thought!
-
What is your height, weight, and goal weight? Are you tracking your calories? If so, are you weighing and logging everything you eat?
-
I'm so sorry you're in such a stressful position right now. I've been there and I can totally relate. Are you incorporating any self-care for you into your days? Maybe you can get some assistance while you have some alone time or do something you enjoy?
-
ETA: I see the answer to my questions above. MFP calorie goals are before exercise, so it is designed that you add and eat back your exercise calories. It's only been 3 weeks. It could be that you're now experiencing the fatigue that has been building up.
-
Are you logging and eating back your exercise calories?
-
I don't see any fruits or vegetables listed in what you eat - do you eat any? Because if you're off a little bit with meat and rice, plus not logging fruits and veg, it can really add up. The nectarine I just ate was 70kcal.

Oh my goodness, I've never heard of horse bread before. That sounds horrible :(

I see you're not doing this and intending to lose weight at the same - good choice. I think it would make weight loss incredibly complicated. Here is a local woman who's been doing a raw diet for about 12 years. If you are interested in her techniques she has a ton of videos about what and how much she eats.…

Immediate family and close friends - yes. Everyone else... no.

I still drink my 3 cups of coffee a day. I use 1/4 Vanilla soy milk for each cup and log it. It's about 75kcal. There's no need to cut out things you enjoy as long as you can keep it within your calorie budget

I see frozen egg products at the grocery store, but have never frozen my own cooked eggs at home. You're right, the texture seems 'off' when I have a frozen egg burrito. I'd love some tips for how to do it well, because I have considered making and freezing breakfast burritos.

It's the MFP profanity filter :D So we get to use our imagination when we see it.

If you know which restaurants you are going to ahead of time you can Google the nutritional values and choose items that are lower cal.

So good to hear that you are doing better! It's wonderful to have you here!

First, 40 lbs in 4 months (with a 2 weeks plateau) is a great accomplishment - congratulations! From what I've read, only 10 days is not a true plateau. The closer to your goal, the slower the weight loss. Patience and perseverance will be your companions now. As for slowing your metabolism due to low calories, it doesn't…

Foods that become too difficult to log would just fall off my menu. @MegaMooseEsq you may have to look for new comfort food :'(

This makes sense. If someone were cooking the whole box 9say for the family meal), then how would they go about figuring out one serving after cooking? I would imagine... if it were 112g a serving and approx. 3 servings per box. I might measure out say exactly 3 servings 336g), cook it, weigh it again, and take 1/3 of the…

Wow! That is a very helpful story! I have finally come to the conclusion that I can never again 'eyeball' food because I have no intuitive sense for portion sizes and I would have believed the box. I just realized something similar with prepacked frozen meals. The weight of the actual food can very greatly.

I have a small/mid size breakfast and lunch, a small afternoon snack and a slightly larger dinner. That's just the way it feels best for me to take in food. Although I may move breakfast a little later because it's a long stretch from 7am to Noon.
-
Lovely words to start the morning!
-
Patience and logging everything you eat. Best wishes!

I crave salty foods like a maniac, but so far it hasn't affected the scale.

Hi there! I sit at a desk all day long, but I have a FitBit and really try to get up and move around as much as possible. I walk during my lunch break. But the have to set an alarm or I might get wrapped up in stuff and let time speed by. What has your experience been like so far?
