  • Haha well I guess you could say the increased comfortableness with myself after training contributed to being open to making a drastic hair color change :) I say go for any change you want, I'm not regretting it!
  • So... I just found a thread that I posted May which you replied to sardelsa, the thread was about my low energy and fatigue, you suggested recomp but I just wanted to keep losing :D :# I thought I remembered you suggesting recomp to me specifically in the past and had to find it...:…
  • Thank you everyone  I am so happy today because I really did not realize my progress until looking at my pictures and comparing this morning... I had just been weighing myself for months, not taking hardly any pics, watching the weight stall and then go up, and thought I was failing. I was sort of skinny fat (more…
  • Thanks for the advice. I do want to be lean enough to be comfortable wearing a two piece swimsuit this summer, I was not ready for it last summer and don't feel ready now either, I want to be a bit leaner. I've been estimated to be about 25% bodyfat, I would like to get to 20% or under. I'm 5'8'', so I wouldn't be…
  • Thank you! I was truly doubting whether recomposition was possible, I was hearing from certain sources online that it isn't really effective to recomp unless in certain specific situations and it's not really what I was aiming for, but I'm glad I did it! Now I believe :) I am seeing a personal trainer for the next 3 months…
  • I could not agree more... OP, I know you want to lose this weight ASAP... everyone does. But quick results quickly go away, while long lasting changes bring about lost lasting results. There really is no way around it in the long run. And it's true, we have all been there, tried this or that, only to come about and realize…
  • Personally for me doing keto and fasting 5 out of 7 days a week sounds really extreme and unsustainable to me. I honestly don't know how you did that. Obviously that was unsustainable, or else you would be still doing that...
  • The only way to lose fat is to be in a calorie deficit. I guess there are many ways to get into a calorie deficit (calorie counting is the most direct way to know if you are in one), but you have to have one to lose fat. Drinking water may help fill you up with 0 calories, but you can still eat more calories than you are…
  • Thank you, that is mainly what I was asking, does it seem she wants input or not? I think it is best to wait until she asks for it, too, though. I don't want to offend her. As for the bolded, I really hope not, that did not occur to me! She has been nothing but sweet to me, so I hope internally she isn't feeling upset at…
  • Thank you, you made me realize how I am a little frustrated with the situation. I truly believe my coworker is an awesome woman, so kind, considerate, intelligent, and great at her work, but I do feel confused and a little annoyed with the venting that she has been doing since last summer. I don't mean to come off so…
  • Thank you. I think it is hard to tell what exactly she is looking for in this situation. Since she has not asked for my experience or help, and has mostly been telling me about her struggles losing weight, I can assume that she isn’t wanting help so much as to vent and be listened to about the struggles she has. I agree…
  • I didn’t say there was anything wrong with eating lunch at 3, she did, when she said “man I am just now getting to eat lunch, you’re so good with food and I’m not, and after all that hard work with the trainer I’ve actually gained weight”. I can guess that she meant to eat lunch at her lunch period but had errands to do at…
  • Haha. I agree. I don't think she wants my advice, I'm not really sure what she wants. The only person who ever genuinely seemed interested in my "how" was my stepsister who repeatedly asked how I lost the weight, I told her MFP and counting calories, and she actually downloaded the app and started using it. Then she got…
  • Very insightful! I agree that it really isn't teachable, you really just have to want it enough to make sacrifices and no amount of knowledge is going to help you without the discipline and determination to follow through with the actions. Eating less is all it takes.
  • Nice hair cut and trim job!
  • Mangoes! (I strongly dislike avocados) Salmon or tilapia?
  • Honestly I have never tracked a Thanksgiving before but I'm guessing I'' be at least like 2,500 calories.
  • That's awesome, congratulations!!! Great Work. I am 27 and wish I would have figured this out sooner or never had a weight problem to begin with like many my age... I know I'm sure it sounds very silly to you probably since I am young and completely ridiculous. We all have our struggles though, and what we've been through…
  • I am 27F, 5'8'', and 139 lbs. I've lost 61 lbs, it took about 1.25 years. I figured out my maintennance to be about 1,880 net calories BEFORE exercise calories (MFP thought it was about 1,750). I am currently cutting at 1,630 net, adding my exercise calories back and eating them, too.
  • I won't, no way to know calories for sure on all of the homemade food I will be eating. I will just aim to eat reasonable portions and perhaps guesstimate my calories on my plate and try to stick around a certain amount. I am running a 5k that morning so that should help a little. One day out of the year is not going to…
  • Yes, it's a real thing, I'm the same way and it sucks. I would look up attachment theory and anxious attachment in particular. It definitely describes me at times.
  • I feel SO MUCH BETTER now that I am a healthier weight. It's amazing how light on my feet I feel and how much of a joy it is to move and work out my body. Running feels nice, actually. When I was 65 lbs. heavier, I was more tired, unmotivated, and moving my body was much more difficult. I felt uncomfortable with all of the…
  • Loooooove this! Thanks for sharing! Weight lifting and weight loss have some similar characteristics. For one, you have to enjoy the process to make it a sustainable habit (eating to meet calorie goals, or just enjoying lifting) or else you will quit. Your life and body are mostly a result of what you are doing most of the…
  • I can relate. One thing that is helping me in the gym is hiring a personal trainer. I see him once or twice a week and we work on lifting either upper or lower body, he plans out my workouts for the week, texts me my workout specifics the day before, and I screen shot him what I lifted. I like having the guidance and…
  • cottage cheese Greek/Icelandic yogurt (mix in peanut butter and perhaps chocolate chips for a DELICIOUS snack - tastes like cookie dough) jerky deli turkey roll ups with cream cheese and pickles raw veggies and hummus nuts (I love cashews) oatmeal hard boiled eggs Also, I love this list from Healthline (and I love their…
  • Thank you for the feedback everyone! Very helpful. It seems that all of us are different when it comes to this. This is what I most resonate with I think. I struggle with consistency with these vanity pounds, some days I don't have a good enough reason not to eat more and I am working through that. I thought a timeline or…
  • The app is a lifesaver for me!
  • I eat the same breakfast everyday (frozen Jimmy Dean light bfast sandwiches) I eat similar snacks daily (fruit, veggies and hummus, oatmeal, cottage cheese, yogurt, nuts) I also eat a lot of the same lunches (chicken breast and veggie, turkey sandwiches, leftovers) Every Sunday I make a meal plan with my Plan to Eat app, I…
